En-suite Shower room was very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the addition of a table and chairs was very useful for me to conduct basic laptop work. The lockers were a very generous size - I was able to store both a backpack and a holdall. The building was of historic value and the stone stair case added to ambiance. Rooms were carpeted and central heating was excellent.
I can't actually think of a negative about my stay. I was on the second floor but not a problem, even for my medical condition. There was only one thing to note and that was a bit of a leak in the reception area (Scotland had suffered from Storm Babet) but it was minor.

the other people at the hostel were great, sociable and also the kitchen was well equipped. the bathroom was good, and the rooms were comfortable although I found that the small lockers didn't lock even if you locked it with your lock, the handle still just turned open
besides seeing one person at two separate times at the front desk I saw no staff anywhere, and usually the reception desk was empty. the notice on the fridge saying stealing food results in immediate eviction is harsh, but understandable, except the sign is only on the staff fridge not the other three fridges so it sounds like they mean if you steal food from the (seemingly scarce) staff you'll be chucked out but if you take it from other travellers that's fine. also they don't even offer breakfast or anything or any evening activities like movie nights or beer pong.

First time ever staying in a hostel & I seen good things being said about this particular hostel, so I decided to book a room. I managed to get a private room with my own bathroom for a respectable price. I liked it so much that I requested if I could extend for another night. I preferably wanted another single room & they luckily had one with a shared bathroom which was really great & for a good price aswell. All staff members I encountered were very friendly & accommodating to me. I will definitely stay at this hostel again when I travel & plan to stay overnight in Dundee.
There wasn't really anything I didn't like. I would prefer the checkout time to be a bit later, so I don't feel rushed but I understand that's the policy. The only thing which I can only think of which I didn't feel comfortable with was the Reading Room in the morning, as I checked out at 10am & the staff member said I could stay till 12am which was fine by me but when I entered the room, there was a couple of people sleeping in there throughout the room which wasn't ideal, as it looked like they were sleeping there during the night but I could be wrong. So I just decided to leave after checking out.

The perfect place for backpackers to stay, but also other guests. Because this is a very social hostel. It is easy to meet and chat with other travellers, and people will start talking to you and make contact. Old building with stairs up to the rooms, but everything is cozy and clean. Check out the games room, it is BIG!
Nothing to complain about really. Only that the staff, consisting of more than ten people, constantly were in the small kitchen and cooking their own food. So it was very crowded the most of the day. Also beware: The space between bottom bunk bed and the top one is very close. You might have maybe 50 cm upwards when you rise from bed before you knock your head in the top bunk!

Really well located in Dundee. 8min away from the train station, which gives you access to so many other places on the Aberdeenshire coast and Fife. We had a lot of space in our room, which was great because we all had loads of hiking stuff. I absolutely loved the reading room, the historic part of the building and the fact that we could read about it on the information panel in every room.
Because it is right in the town centre, it was noisy at night due to the people in the streets. The space to cook was also a bit small, which was fine but not on peak time. For example, more than 4 people in the kitchen made the cooking harder.

The beds were wooden bunks and very comfortable, as I slept well during both occasions when I stayed here in the past month. The facilities were excellent, as there are recreational rooms and a dining room in which I could sit and work during the evening. The showers were hot and the overall cleanliness of the building was good. The wifi is also excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly on both occasions. Great value for money.
Perhaps my expectations are lower than those of others, but this hostel has everything that I needed from a hostel, and I would say a little more. There was nothing that I disliked.

Everything, except otherwise comfortable lower bunk had insufficient head room. Loved location, old quirky building, social space, dining rooms and lounges
Space between lower and higher bunk was 6 inches too small. Fear of sitting up in lower bunk and banging head in night. Very uncomfortable to sit and dress with neck cricked and head against side of upper bunk and only 1 chair for 4 beds. Ancient building had lethal twisting stairs and lots of them up from ground to upper floors. Modernised stairs on upper floors safe and quick to negotiate Finding ones way around the labyrinth helped by good signage.

The bed was well prepared. The sheets clean. I rank them by more than 100% on bathroom cleanness. The bathroom exceeded my expectations, one can use it with a smile. I also love the services they included in the room, eg tea, coffee, milk, sugar, and a boiler. Next time they should put some biscuits 😁😁😁
The kitchen was clean but I was put off by this other guy who spit in the sink of which in the sink there were dish washer forms. I recommend that the authorities write a note that for mouthwash people should use the bathrooms.

Massive commons areas [empty bcos I arrived during off-season]. Lovely staff that was always helpful from the minute I arrived there. The building is a historical house right in the middle of town with a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of cozy areas with lovely decoration - would really recommend it
Nothing really. I will say that it does not have as many plugs for charging phones etc as other places but wasn't at all an issue

The location is great - basically in the city centre. The room was quite spacious, and I had all my comfort at being alone. The staff was very friendly.
The WiFi in my room was quite poor, so I had often to switch to my phone. I didn't use the common spaces as I was very busy with my job. The first night the location was very busy and there was a lot of noise outside, but this is not a fault of the hotel, the room is actually quite isolated. Just consider you are in the city centre.
