Malmaison Dundee

From the beginning of our visit to the end any interaction with your staff was excellent. Special mention for Casey ?? at the restaurant who was particularly helpful and thoughtful enough to produce a slate with some desert and happy birthday written in chocolate for my brother in law who’s 60th birthday was the reason for our stay. Booked a suite for brother in law and sister in law who were absolutely delighted with the room and facilities. Likewise with our room a standard double no complaints.

Only one small criticism was my wife’s Mac and cheese at dinner Friday night. She loves this dish normally but wasn’t impressed.She said it was too dry.I asked her why she didn’t say anything at the time she said she didn’t want to cause a fuss.

Central location lots of room. Good use of an old building. Staff helpful and friendly . The reception staff very helpful. especially Dale and Paul

No parking. shower head is too big for the size of shower . needs to be a smaller head so that water comes down on the person in the shower no running down opposite wall. controls of shower wrong way around. Not enough staff to run Breakfast . meals cold on reaching table. Dirty plates on tables not cleared immediately or tables cleaned before new customers sat down at them. wrong menu’s handed out at Sunday lunch. long wait between courses.

Was allowed to check in early, its great position for all amenities and not far from the station. The reception staff and management were excellent. I went up to watch James @ Slessor Park outside the hotel, was a poster advertising the gig. The staff bent over backwards so I could take the poster back home with me when I left. All the staff, including the maintenance team, are very friendly and helpful. I was that impressed. I have booked a 3 night stay in October.. ☆☆☆☆☆

The Friday night door person who was outside the hotel could do with learning some manners and some people skills. Other than that, there was nothing else I didn't like..

The beds in Malmaison are the comfiest ever! Just wish I could replicate at home…. Love the style of the hotels, the decor, especially the gorgeous staircase - and general ambience. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful, and bar area was good. When we checked in, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a club room - this was much appreciated. This room was a real step up from what we normally book (regular visitors), so we loved it.

The full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door, which is right in front of the toilet - probably the worst design feature I’ve ever seen! Appreciate the need for the size of mirror but perhaps place it elsewhere?

Location is fabulous it’s so central for the train station and there is a multi-storey car park that costs £20 for 2nights stays which we thought was reasonable . we have stayed there numerous times and most of the times we have had good stays. Music from the pub that is along can be noisy on a sat night especially if you have rooms above. Rooms are always clean and I like the dark vibe. I think the drinks are over priced compared to other bars in the city. Food is good although we ate out this visit. Staff was friendly Overall another good visit and will be back in a couple of months.

We went as a last minute idea to see V&A. Lovely, modern hotel with fantastic decor. Staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful. Food was excellent, especially dinner. We got an upgrade on arrival to a bigger room that was available, although we were quite early. Great view from the window and despite other reviews very quiet. Room was massive, completely spotless with a big extremely comfortable bed. Lovely toiletries and everything you could need.

The car park is a 5 ish minute walk away which would be a bit of an effort with a lot of luggage and bad weather. The room was very dark. I struggled to see especially going to the toilet overnight and the room had the creakiest floorboards I've ever heard. The duvet was far too heavy and got flung off immediately.

Lovely old building and the main areas where decorated very stylishly and smart . Check in was fast and friendly . The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The restaurant was nice and staff friendly with the food served in good time .

The room was a little rough around the edges and could have done with a paint touch up in a good few places and the desk seat was ripped. For the price per night I’d expect an impeccable room. The food although very tasty and mostly cooked well was let down by the rice as it was undercooked. Other than that not to bad a hotel .

Good location and pleasant.

Bistro in evening very dark, with in adequate lighting and intrusive music. Menu was very poor quality in terms of printing, looked like a very poor photocopy with large parts completely unreadable. This along with poor lighting made it impossible to read even with glasses. People sitting at tables on either side both complained and had to use torch on mobile phone to read menu, so not just me. Waiting staff shrugged in response and said "I know". Not really an acceptable response when several people have raised the same issue in the space of an hour. How any person with a visual impairment would cope is beyond me! Apart from not being able to read the menu the food and service were good. There are never adequate lights in hotel rooms especially when decor is so dark.

The staff at the hotel and bar are all very nice. They were polite, helpful and organised. Nothing was too much trouble. My room shower wasnt working, however i was quikcly moved to the room next door and as i had been delayed, they also brought me up some coffee and toast as i wouldnt have made breakfast on time I dined in the bar as I was lone traveller and working, it was a quiet space for meetings and food was lovely

The rooms are a probably in need of an upgrade, chips and marks but in general the place was clean. Communal hallways again could do with an upgrade but bar and entrance was very nice.

It was a superb location and fantastic building. It was great having a fridge and the views were exceptional. Bathroom was superb as well as the bed. The paintings on the wall were great, as was the general ambience of the building.

We found the room a little cramped, and the chair although adjustable in the room was a little bit awkward and cramped in position. However our major problem was the terrible frying smell or stale food smell in the corridors and in and around the lift on floor 2. It was as if food was constantly being fried and it was really quite noxious. Sorry to be so critical because I love your hotel. My partner also felt that perhaps some update on the interior design and wallpaper and paint may be appropriate.
