Great location. This is a 16th century pub....lots of character, some uneven floors but generally very comfortable. Big TV in the room Tea, coffee and biscuits provided Delicious breakfast Very clean The pub is busy and noisy but they tell you about this in advance. All was quiet by 10.30pm

I was assured by email that the hotel would secure me a parking place as i have a blue badge and cannot walk far with a case. No such parking place was provided and staff told me they wouldn't provide one. Very steep stairs to the rooms I had no hot water in the bathroom basin: the tap was broken. The bathroom lino was in a poor state.

Room was clean bright and cosy enough space for 2 people! Bathroom clean and spacious with good shower! Towels and toiletries were in the room as well as tea coffee and biscuits excellent value plus lovely home cooked breakfast included. Couldn't fault it excellent value for money had lunch both days too as great home cooked food! Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Definately stay here again. Entertainment was on both nights but ended at a reasonable time, all good fab place and full of character.

Can't say anything bad about this place especially for the price.

The location was spot on situated in the middle of the town The room was spacious clean and the beds very comfortable The breakfast was excellent as were all of the staff that we met

It's not in any way a complaint the situation was dealt with sensibly and in a competent manner But I was led to believe that you could pay by cash at the property but I was asked to pay by card that I was unable to do I was also asked to produce a form of ID which once again I couldn't do as I don't drive so I couldn't produce a driving licence and I don't have a valid passport (who when they're English carries a passport around with them) as the owner did agree with I fully understand the reasoning behind it all the same But thanks to Ed and the owner the problem was resolved I'd just like to add that this in no way ruined our stay and definitely would stay there again and recommend it to anyone

We really enjoyed our breakfasts with Wendy serving us with a smile each morning. Our rooms were fine except we were unable to receive WIFi and had to go down to the pub area to check e mails etc. We thought that Wendy was a real asset to the hotel, as she was always cheerful and pleasant. The noise from the pub was not too bad and we managed to sleep despite the chatting etc. The location was excellent , as we were just around the corner from all the lovely shops. The rooms were lovely and warm and the bed not too bad at all.

The shower did not work as the small knob which should have changed to flow of water was stuck so we had to manage with baths. I am not really a fan of baths now as I am older, so would have preferred the shower.

The Old Post Office is in a superb location - on the cobbles in the centre of the old town - the perfect place for a rest day on our LEJOG cycling tour. The friendly staff secured our bikes in a locked room. Our room was a bit of a journey to reach - up and down stairs with many doors and corridors - but that's to be expected with these grand old pubs and part of their attraction. The room was nice, the bed comfy, the private bathroom had good, warm water pressure. The full English breakfast set us up to tackle Wales next. We will stay again.

Great location in the centre of town. Short walk to all of the shops, Castle and Riverside attractions. Lots of bars and eating places all around. Great vibe in the pub. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast included. Comfy bed.

The room had no ensuite. The private bathroom was just around the corner from the room which was ok, except if you needed the loo in the middle of the night. There are a lot of stairs to get to the rooms which we didn't mind but it would not suit someone less agile.

Historical building, the location was excellent, close to everything restaurants, shops, historical sites, about a mile to the railroad station. My room upstairs had 2 windows so I could leave them open for fresh air!. The restaurant downstairs in the bar was just excellent! We had lunch here. Steak and Ale pie is so good! The included English cooked breakfast or other choices, was just perfect. The coffee was excellent! The rooms are a bit worn but larger than average. Warning, there are no elevators here! We were up about 4 banks of stairs.

The mattress on the bed was super hard and worn out. Had to pad it up with blanket, pillow, etc. It was cheerfully supplied so after that it was fine!! Wifi not working alot of the time.

The old post office is stepped back from the busy street which is prefect for quietness whilst still being in walking distance to all the shops, the staff was absolutely fantastic, very helpful and genuinely happy, which says alot about the managers...the food was so tasty with generous platefuls of home cooked food..prices are very affordable, and wonderfully priced special offers for two....the room was very clean and warm, with plenty of tea & coffee, with luxury biscuits...we were really impressed with the whole experience and we will definitely be back, plus we have already highly recommended to friends & family...thank you to all the staff for making our day

No complaints at all

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location ten minutes walk from the railway station in the centre of town was great. My bed was very comfortable.Breakfast was very good as was the evening meal . Tea and coffee ( nice biscuits) making facilities provided . Toiletries and towels, hairdryer and TV in rooms. thought it was very good value for money.

It wasn't a problem for me but if you have mobility issues it is an historic building with quite a few steps between landings where the six bedrooms are situated.

Location is good for walking around Shrewsbury. Staff are friendly and helpful. I was allowed to store my bags and explore the town (before checking in and after checking out). Bar menu is reasonable value. The Barman needs a medal for his customer service being the only staff member front of house, taking food and drink orders as well as waiting on the tables and cleaning them down alongside serving drinks and handling general enquiries, all with a polite and friendly manner.

Stairs up to rooms are quite steep. Decorating could be better but I understand that some of the quirkiness is due to the very old age of the building. Hand basin in room has stretchy caulking and rocks back against the wall. The chair in the room is very wobbly and I didn't trust myself sitting on it. The mattress on one of the beds could do with changing (flat and very hard), I slept on the other bed.
