Location was excellent. The setting was beautiful.

One way system was confusing-needed more information on how to get to and from hotel by car. Cooked breakfast was poor. Couldn't cook poached eggs. How they can overcook the yolk and yet undercook the white is beyond me. Also grilled tomatoes werent grilled-they were barely heated.

on arrival the staff were extremely rude and discourteous. nearly walked out and left .

Character, location, staff and food.

A weekend checkout involved dealing with almost unfathomable experimental traffic restrictions to retrieve the car from the nearby car park. Only a few minutes walk away on foot but eventually resorted to getting a taxi with our luggage, as did some other guests. It would have been good to have had some advance warning of this so we could have made our move before the restrictions started at 10am.

Lovely rambling old building in the centre of old Shrewsbury. Town centre location suited me for attending a concert nearby. The parking was a bit difficult to find, down narrow side streets, and cost an extra £10. The staff provided helpful printed instruction sheets on how to find it.From there it was a short walk up some steps to regain the hotel. The hotel is big and a bit anonymous: there was no food available before the concert, and nothing after; and I didn’t take breakfast.

Unloading luggage in the narrow streets could be stressful

Excellent breakfast, helpful reception. Handy for shops and many sights.

Floor of room creaked a lot. I had planned to dine in on the first night but the restaurant had a private function. (Two of the local pubs were not serving hot food that night either!)

Fabulous location, lovely staff (except lady at breakfast) and breakfast was very good

Parking was only till 11.30 am so we had to go back to car and pay again. If we had realised we would have just paid at meter not hotel for the 24 hrs, would have been more convenient and less stressful. The bed was very hard which hubby liked however I couldn't sleep.

I loved the historical building, the decor and the warm welcome from the staff. The bathroom was very modern with excellent facilities . Also, it was in a brilliant location.

The noise made by the other guests carried through the building. Some soundproofing is needed as I could even hear someone snoring!

The choice of breakfast was very good and the quality of the food was also good. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel could not be beaten. All the staff were excellent.

One small point; the weather was particularly hot and there was a plastic undersheet on the bed, this made it difficult to sleep but I didn't realise that was the reason until the morning. It is unusual in the UK to have such hot weather. Perhaps removing the plastic on the beds could be something for staff to think about in the future if the summers continue to be so hot.

Great location in the heart of Shrewsbury. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff.

Noisy pub next door. Playing live music until 12 in the morning. Then there was the noise of the people leaving!. May have been because we stayed on Friday and Saturday. Maybe. Room could have been cleaned to a better standard.

The hotel is well positioned for the town centre and is a great place to stay. It is in the process of being updated which is great it needs a bit of TLC to the paintwork. Breakfast was lovely as always and great service. The room was clean and comfortable.

In need of a facelift but lovely place to stay so comfortable and easy. Staff lovely and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic place to stay when seeing Shrewsbury the beautiful Shropshire town.
