A very spacious room and bathroom. Housekeeping good with replenished tea and coffee and clean towels daily. Our room overlooked the beer garden but when the windows were closed you could not hear any noise. An excellent location both near the river and the central area. Reception staff polite and professional. They gave us directions with helpful enthusiasm and the hotel allows you to leave you case on arrival and departure which was helpful. The hotel does not have a lift so if an issue book asking for lower floor. The price does not include breakfast though you can buy in the pub or a local cafe. I would definitely recommend and stay here again if planning a trip to Shrewsbury.
There was nothing we disliked.

The hotel was right across from the Theatre where we were going that night so excellent location if you are going to the Theatre, it was just a few min walk. I was a bit worried about the beer garden out the front but we had a room at the back so no noise whatsoever. Although the beer garden closes at 22.30 which we didn't know until that night as we were sat in it so that was good. The room overall I was impressed with it, good size bed, clean and tidy. There was tea/coffee making facilities with a good variety and some biscuits. We ate in the pub in the beer garden before going to the theatre and then we ate our breakfast there the next morning. Check out is not till 11am which is great and they serve breakfast till 12pm in the pub.
The only thing was there was one small window that you could open so no breeze or air getting in it. The weather was very warm and luckily there was a fan but it was noisy so didn't have a great night sleep but maybe alcohol was a factor in that as well... 😂

Centrally located in Shrewsbury, we were able to explore the town from the hotel; the bed was huge and comfortable, ironing board and hairdryer, ample tea makings, table and chairs in our room and a shower over bath in pleasant bathroom. Enjoyed the typical Wetherspoons evening meal, well cooked, and presented for a reasonable price and food available until 10pm. Would definitely stay here again, especially if they re-established their car park.
Hotel car park has been converted to outdoor dining space so parking in local car parks was £2 per hour after 8:00am until 6:00pm. Moving the car to a cheaper car park meant we got stuck in traffic as there was an abnormal road closure, took an hour to move the car less than a mile from the hotel. Definitely spoilt my enjoyment of a nice hotel. No lift so carrying things up to our room was not easy. Most internal doors had card tap entry so needed a free hand.

The room was lovely and spacious. It had a nice view of the river. I'm vegan so having oat milk sachets in my room as well as dairy milk was a nice touch. I haven't seen that anywhere else before and I stay in a lot of hotels for my work. The staff were friendly.
The TV remote didn't work. When we reported it it still.wasnt dealt with. Also we were on the top floor, it's a lot of stairs when carrying luggage it needs a lift of some sort. You need more staff as those working in the hotel had to help out in the bar which meant we had a good wait when checking in.

5 minutes walk from main high street and all the shops. breakfast wasn’t included but the hotel is joined to the restaurant and breakfast was available when wanted at a good price. room was a really good size, we paid extra for family room which had a bed settee which was left as a seat so had extra relaxation space. bed was comfy with very warm duvet car park over the river which had a cheap day rate and able to leave overnight with no extra charge.
a little noisy as room was over the entrance to the pub, but this didn’t affect us too much

I was expecting a low quality hotel at the price we paid. What we got was far better. The reception staff were charming and helpful. The room was spacious, modern and clean and tidy. There was a great range of tea, coffee etc in the room, the beds were comfortable with extra pillows on hand. The building looked well maintained. The hotel is very central and there is reasonable quality food on offer in the bar if you want it. Lots of hot water, which is what you need on a bike tour. Shrewsbury is a great town to explore.
Two observations that were peculiar to the fact that we were on a cycle tour, so probably won't matter to most people. We were allowed to leave our bikes in reception, once everyone had booked in. A bike shed would be a good addition. After cycling forty miles I needed a bath to sort my stiff muscles out. The bath was rather short and I couldn't straighten my legs while sitting in it!

Our room had the stocks of milk, hot choc, biscuits replenshished every day but unfortunately same wasn't to be said for the other room in our party, but we shared the tea bags. Room cleaned every day. The team were friendly and helpful. Had a few meals in the bar. We had 2 windows allowing a lot of light in and the room was comfy but it's looking a little tired now and could do with a refresh (carpet). There seemed to only be 2 power sockets by the kettle, etc. So could do with others if possible, or take one of those little multi-plug adaptors to be safe
Absolutely nothing to do with the hotel, but just so it's here and any one else that stays knows to take earplugs.... seems that Shrewsbury is blighted by the same issue we have by us locally. Later at night, the road right outside the hotel becomes a grand prix circuit for modified (and therefore probably illegal/ or at least should be) cars that sound like they need to be scrapped. They are loud. Utterly ridiculous, but you know, seems to keep a few idiot folk happy. Just take ear plugs. It shouldn't stop you from staying here

Only problem we had was the bar service, tables were cluttered with dirty plates so we couldn’t find a space and when we ordered breakfast we were told there was no tea and when it arrived we were told that there was no butter for toast! Ok I get it you can short deliveries but you could have put a portion of butter in a small dish or disposable paper pot, on one occasion we came back from a day sight seeing eager to sit down with a pint an all the tables were cluttered and dirty so went to the armoury instead, we didn’t dare go to the other Wetherspoons incase we encounter the same problems, we will stay again as the hotel part was exceptional hopefully the bar/restaurant will be better next time!!

The breakfast I chose was from breakfast extras as I am a coeliac, so I selected very carefully. The bedroom was tastefully decorated. One thing, though, the bed moved too easily when sitting on it or lying down on it. The TV was okay except the programme guide setting showed the programme times half an hour later not at the usual time when they're put on. So I told the receptionist at the hotel.
The TV and the menu in the restaurant. There should be a gluten free menu on offer in restaurants and pubs it is the law put into action a few years ago, and I didn't see this at all. I stated this when booking the hotel.

not having a view it was frosted glass as was at the back of the hotel but it was very quiet which was good. just ask if you book if you want a river view. I will next time.
