We had an amazing time in Cornish Arms – we stayed just for one night as part of our hiking trip, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was helpful and very nice and friendly; our room was lovely, very clean, and well-equipped, and the food we had was absolutely great! Both the dinner we had in the evening and the breakfast were amazing. We don't remember when we enjoyed a meal so much. Thank you!

It's absolutely understandable that rooms need to be cleaned – and that this needs to be done asap. But since the check-out is at 11am (and breakfast is served until 10am), we felt that it was rather unnecessary that staff started cleaning rooms around us quite loudly around 8 am. We didn't want to sleep until very late anyway (8.30), but this woke us up even earlier, and it made the morning feel rushed as there was a vacuum cleaner in front of our room since 9am, etc. But this is just a minor thing, really; we had a great time anyway!

The room was very comfortable with a huge king sized bed and a coffee machine - most welcome, with fresh milk available from the bar. We also loved the shower with its two "heads". The breakfast was probably the best we have ever had at an inn or hotel. The Cornish Full Breakfast was incredible, ditto the yoghurt with fruit and granola. Our breakfast host was extremely helpful and friendly. We also loved the fact the rooms were named after animals and birds, making ours a very "pheasant" visit!

Our room overlooked the main road outside with a couple of takeaway food outlets across the street, where people congregated. It was not a major issue however but this was midweek.

We were supposed to be staying here for a Wedding, however, we had to cancel at the last minute. Therefore, rather than lose the money the Cornish Arms kindly changed the dates of our booking. We parked at the back of the premises in our of the resident reserved spaces and came in through a lovely back garden area. We were greeted warmly on arrival at the bar and shown to our room. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant the first night and although it was quite expensive, the food was absolutely five star standard! Breakfast was again very good! I had the porridge the second day and I can highly recommend that! All in all, we had a lovely couple of nights away.

The only tiny thing that I could improve in our room would be to move the tea tray onto a wall shelf. You had to move the coffee machine and kettle anyway to plug it in. Then there would have been room for a little cosy chair in the window area. But that's just being very critical. We did love it. We stayed in Pheasant.

Very comfortable large bed. Fresh milk when required. Lovely decor. Friendly staff, particularly Toshi our breakfast waiter. A fantastic morning person who really made our day. Good parking. Toiletries provided were very good. Large towels and bathrobes lovely. Nice coffee maker in room and quality tea/coffee provided. Very clean establishment.

Lack of storage in room. No wardrobe, drawers or cupboards. Only 4 coat hangers on wall hooks. No storage in bedside cabinets. A fridge would have been very useful.

The room was clean and in pristine condition, better than I expected for the price I paid. Breakfast was good, I had the Full Cornish on one day and the smoked salmon and egg the other. Real ale on draught was a choice of three from St. Austell Ales.

The Wifi speed was good, however it required me to log in to the hotspot much too frequently. Occasionally it just didn't work and I resorted to 4G. I travelled there in an electric vehicle. Mid Devon is unfortunately a desert for EV charging. A 7kW or 11kW charger in the car park that can be booked overnight would have made my planning easier.

Tasteful decor in the bedroom and well equipped, including coffee pod machine. The food, including breakfast, was top notch and beautifully presented. The staff seemed happy and helpful, always a good sign. The restaurant was busy every night, even on Monday and Tuesday evening, so a good atmosphere. Good sized bathroom.

There was very little to dislike. A bit noisy in the evening, as you might expect in the town centre location. The stairs to the bedrooms might be difficult for some.

Lovely atmospheric inn with a nicely decorated interior. Felt very Christmasy. really liked my room. extremely comfortable kingsize plus bed in “Partridge”. Soft towels and great bath products. Nice rain shower and lots of mirrors. Great room decor and lighting options. Enjoyed delicious cod meal at dinner and mushrooms with poached egg and the best smoked bacon ever at breakfast. a real treat. the location was just outside the town centre.

Slightly too hot in room. It was very cold outside but I would have liked to have the option to turn down the radiator at night. The cold tap was faulty and twisted round as it was used. I fed this back…. Unfortunately other guests made din with door slamming and dogs barking during the night, which disturbed my sleep. Of course this was not the fault of the owners.

The room was well equipped and decorated nicely, the bathroom was very spacious and the shower was good. We booked a meal in the restaurant for an evening meal and that was excellent and the service was excellent as well. The breakfast was cooked to order and there was a large selection to choose from. There was reserved parking for residents which was not charged so that was an added bonus. The staff were super friendly and very helpful.

It was all good so nothing to write here

Highly competent and courteous manager for booking accommodation and meal for my wife and I, and two relatives. Comfortable bed, bedroom and good shower. Excellent food - both evening meal and breakfast- and most generous quantities. Coffee etc in room with fresh milk a bonus. Exceptional parking facility. Good, vibrant atmosphere. Welcoming bar. Customer service exemplary. Great stop for us en route to Cornwall from London or vice- versa.

Loved the decor, location was great right in the middle of Tavistock and the food we had at breakfast and dinner was amazing. My husband said it was the tastiest cooked breakfast he had ever had in an hotel. The staff were very professional and friendly.

our only complaint was that we had no where to leave our suitcases in the room whilst we we were there for two nights. We had to move the furniture around a bit to accommodate two medium size suitcases. Also the tea and coffee making facilities were on a tray near the window, nowhere near a plug socket. They had to be moved to a socket each time we wanted to use them.
