Extremely friendly reception on arrival, even though we were a couple of hours early we could check in. We were shown our room and then the rest of the hotel. We had drinks on the sunny terrace with a nice view. There was free parking. Room was small but very clean. Breakfast was cooked to order. Lovely grade II listed building. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

The bathroom didn't have blinds but we kept the window open to keep cool. There was a lot of traffic noise so we didn't sleep well. Would have liked some fruit at breakfast.

The room was fine.Staff were helpful. Bed was exceptionally comfortable and en-suite was modern and well appointed. Dinner was good and cooked breakfast excellent. Location is fantastic for exploring the local area and beyond.

Although the young staff were all very helpful and friendly, we felt they perhaps needed some more training or guidance in the nuances of hospitality (eg ensuring the breakfast buffet area was always topped up with things like condiments, juices etc to save customers from having to constantly ask). Although we loved the charm and character of the hotel, some of the rooms could do with refreshing (paint, curtains etc)

Terry was absolutely brilliant from check in to ensuring everything was perfect during our stay. She enthusiastically acted as photographer, organised a late checkout and a room to change out of smart clothes if we wanted. The home distilled gin(equipment in bar area) was enjoyed on the patio overlooking the valley with views stretching for miles. The food steak/fish and chips were well prepared and sourced from local outlets. Breakfast was banging - including local butcher's sausages and perfectly poached eggs with richly coloured yolks from happy hens

This Georgian house is kept to a good working standard oozing character in the heart of Launceston adjacent to the castle(English Heritage). It is not pristine and the room rates reflect this(great value)

Journey down to Cornwall was a nightmare. Terrible weather caused me to be late arrival. Although the restaurant has closed the staff took pity on me and provided a full meal. The car park was full, but the staff member on reception moved their own car in the pouring rain so I could get in. What brilliant customer service going above and beyond what I would have expected. I was completely frazzled by the car journey when I arrived but left with a definite spring in my step. My thanks to all staff members on duty 18-19th August

There is a lot to like about this hotel. The young staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The bar area and terrace seem to be very popular with locals and residents alike, and I enjoyed a lovely cheese board with their summer gin and tonic, and a very good cooked breakfast the next morning. The location, right next to the castle, is perfect for exploring Launceston, which was an overnight stay for me en route to the far west of Cornwall.

I had a single room on the lower ground floor which actually had a decent view. But there was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom, not even a hook on the door. The bedroom area was also quite cramped; this is often the case in single rooms but the best hotels adopt creative solutions, and I hope the Eagle House will do this as it continues its restoration. It has so much potential, and I do want to be constructively critical as I enjoyed so much of my stay!

Superb menu - great dinner and fantastic breakfast in the morning which I hadn't realised was included in the room booking. During dinner, my wife managed to knock a large glass of red wine into my lap, soaking my beautiful tan shaded trousers. Without a spare pair I had to resort to my pyama trousers. It was late and I gave the sodden pair to the waitress and asked if anything could be done. In the morning my trousers were hanging on my door looking like new! I was later told by receptionist that "everyone" had been involved the evening before to deal with the issue. On the drive home the hotel called to say my wife had left something behind and they would be happy to send it on. Such an enjoyable stay with such friendly and welcoming people. We shall go back!

We enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast and dinner in the bar area was excellent. We also enjoyed their home distilled gins! The room was very spacious and bed comfy with lovely cotton linen. Good location to walk into town. Bar and waiting staff were friendly and efficient. will definitely return for dinner. Sadly our room had suffered a roof leak and the wallpaper was stained and loose in a large patch down the wall - they said they were going to repair and decorate it - was just a bit surprised it wasn't done before we arrived.

The damp patch which affected decorations in the room. There was a wardrobe in the room but you couldn't open the doors.

Very large comfortable room, with large en-suite facilities. (Room 2) Comfortable bed and pillows. Parking available. Friendly staff. Its a Grade 2 listed building, and it had high ceilings, uneven floors in places, wide stair case and chandeliers. But we loved the quirkiness of the place. Option of cooked breakfast. Also option of evening meal, which was excellent

There was no fruit available with breakfast, and they had run out of orange juice on our first breakfast there. (This was remedied by the next morning)

Staff were brilliant, had an issue, they listened and escalated. Turned out to be my fault (couldn't see the temperature control properly in the shower without my glasses) Problem resolved. Breakfast was great, again very attentive and accommodating staff, my vegetarian sausages were brilliant! The view from the hotel was incredible, beautiful part of the World

The only real "issue" was that the tv remote didn't operate fully so had to manually change volume - no real problem as the tv was just there for the news/weather in the morning.

From the moment you wearily check in after a 6 hour drive in the rain to be greeted by friendly staff and a 26 foot Christmas tree in reception all travel weariness lifted and it was time to sink into a sofa near the bar have a cold wine and start relaxing. In Room 6 newly refurbished very cosy view of the castle very comfy bed slept like a log. Breakfast lovely, gorgeous coffee, juice, etc everything you could need. The waitress deserves special mention for being so cheerful and helpful that early in the morning! Thank you x
