The Horn Of Plenty

This has got to be one of the brest places i have stayed in. What makes this place so special, are ALL the people that work there. From the moment you check in with Barbara, Catherine,Donna,and Candice, you can instantly see and feel how proffesional this hotel is.My room was alwaws spotless, the breakfasts superb. Certainly one of the highlights for me, was the wine tasting at the end of the evening with the restaurant manager, Emily..and team made the whole stay great fun, especially when you condsider, we were all there for a funeral..very sensitively handled. my sincere thanks to all..Marie ,Cheryl, Tam, Lucy Charmain,Page..spotless cleaning. Emily,Ryan,Jamie, Amelia.Eliza,Morgan, Sara,Bobby,Lowena and Ellen,plus Kit Allistair and Kitchen Team. nothing , it was perfect

I particularly enjoyed the food and methodical table service. The butter, canapés and crème brûlée was divine. Nothing was stressful. It was all beautifully relaxed and convenient. The food was appropriately priced and the optional light menu was welcomed. The hotel room was slightly costlier than I had anticipated for the size we received but since everything else felt right, I can’t complain😊. The breakfast too was wonderful. The staff were kind and helpful. The folder in the room was excellent. Filled with all the relevant information. It appears that someone ?Jeremy has taken a lot of time and effort to provide this helpful information.

It would be nice to have some simple maps and leaflets with guidance about quick, easy to reach, local walks and drives, if available, especially as Tavistock information center is closed on Sundays. The complimentary bread was appreciated but multigrain or seeded would be even better.

We are returning guests year on year and it is one of our happy places. The dogs love it and are made to feel very welcome. We are yet to find a more tasty breakfast and have never had a bad dinner here and the view of the Tamar Valley is just incredible !

The only teeny tiny fault is that the complimentary glass of Prosecco with breakfast is no longer available which I always found to be a lovely touch :-)

I have to say i was so pleased with the communication from the staff here. The beautiful confirmation letter sent out in the post for my wife for xmas. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay and i cant thank you all enough. Excellent. She loved the evening meal and also the breakfast, the location and views were stunning.

Room was a little cold. As I don’t think the radiator works. But there was a plug in one which heated it up quick. But had to turn it off at night. So cold in the morning. But no problem turning it on again. A tiny issue. When all was all so good

Breakfast is and was superb and the service received was above and beyond my expectations After 15years the service is still outstanding. It is the first time I have stayed in the house and I prefer the lodges but it was still a great stay.

The hotel room was better than many and the price was stronger than many and for the room with no aspect this would be my only complaint. But it would not stop me returning as the service is so good.

Excellent breakfast - plenty of choice. Friendly and attentive staff. Restaurant food excellent.

The advertising literature emphasises the views from bedrooms and restaurant. Only SOME bedrooms have these views . Also as a group of 4 - we were not allocated a table in the front of the restaurant with the views over the valley. Priority given to 2 person guests. With some negotiating we did manage to eat in the forward section on our last evening. The same issues arose for breakfast. But decided to split into 2 x 2 to obtain the premier tables. Not ideal when wishing to spend time with good friends.

Beautiful setting, fabulous it’s dog friendly as we were travelling with our 2 year old black lab. The staff were very helpful, friendly & sorted out a problem with our room very nicely.

We didn’t eat dinner so can’t comment on dinner .. we are in Cornish Arms in Tavistock was amazing

Almost evrything

The fact tayht breakfast didn't start until 8.30. I appreciate that it is essentially a holiday hotel, but I was travelling on business and had a meeting in Tavistock at 9.00 so not being able to start breakfast until 8.30 meant I couldn't enjoy it as I would have wished. A statrt at 7.30 or even 8.00 would have added considerably to my overall enjoyment of such a lovely hotel.

great location: most of staff great very accommodating, Had a few hiccups but staff dealt with these promptly - all others polite and helpful

lady who booked us in quite demeaning stating our booking method was not the correct one - we should have booked direct - so we needed to move for the last night of our stay - not ideal start
