Polhilsa Farm

Breakfast was excellent, always ready on time for us and served on nice hot plates. Fruit, cereal and juice ready as well. Room was spacious, clean and warm with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

We don't have sat nav so initially had minor difficulty finding the farm. Could possibly benefit from having a sign on the main road. Finding local places to eat is a bit of a challenge but the farm does offer an evening meal if you pre book, may be advisable to do this if you need to. We didn't do that but would assume it would be good based on the breakfast.

This was our second time of staying here. The room was very clean. Breakfast excellent. Kay, Tom and Grandad are very pleasant and informative. We stayed for four days - two of these were spent fishing. Lovely surroundings. Ideal for a peaceful holiday.

The only thing that we found annoying was as our room was on the ground floor there is constant creaking of the floorboards when people are walking around in the room above.

Excellent Breakfast, tailored for our requirements. The host is very flexible and was accommodating us with our food requirements. The location is a very rural types, with nice views and no road noise whatsoever. The room also had freeview, which is great. Wifi was quite good and room spacious. The location is like 10 minutes drive from Callington, which has good pubs and restaurants (Chinese/Indian).

There was nothing that we didn't like. It was all great !!

The double bed was very comfortable; the room had a good seating area too. It was the family room, so it had another single bed, which we didn't need, but added to the size of the room. The Tv had excellent reception. The tasty breakfasts were cooked to order. The staff were chatty and helpful. We enjoyed the short walk round the fishing lake. Despite the number of B&B and self-catering guests we always had somewhere to park. There were appropriate Covid measures in place.

Our room was on the ground floor. It could be a little noisy at night, when some of the guests walked around on the squeaky floorboards upstairs!

Breakfast was lovely. Large portions and lots of choice. Nice bedroom and very comfortable bed but the room was a little noisy from the room upstairs (creaking floorboards). Surroundings were quiet and the lakes were very picturesque and a nice surprise to be able to walk around them with our dog. Excellent location and would not hesitate to return.

Great quiet location, spotless, warm and very well maintained.Room was spacious with it's own entrance, great to come and go as you please. The seating area in the room was great, with plenty of tea and coffee. The bathroom again was spotless with a good shower, plenty of hot water and a lovely heated towel rail.Fantastic well maintained grounds, which was lovely for the dog or just to have a walk around and enjoy. Lovely breakfast and choice, Kay and Thomas are very welcoming and friendly, can not fault anything. Fabulous professional b&b, will return again and again, thank you Kay for a wonderful weekend

The property is so stunning. The lakes, the wildlife and the rooms are all lovely. Kay was super friendly and helpful with anything that we needed. She let us use tools to have a bbq one night. Breakfast was so tasty! The dog loved her stay here too.

The only thing I will say is that our bed wasn’t amazingly comfortable. We still managed a decent sleep, however we were on the ground floor and could hear every step the people upstairs took it was quite loud. But literally they were minor things and didn’t affect our stay at all we absolutely loved it and definitely will recommend to friends and family!

The location was nice -and the farm had ducks ,geese,bats and cats,with a large pond,and garden was well kept.Parking was convenient and free.Kay the proprietor was very helpful and friendly,giving advice on places to visit, and best routes to follow. There were local choices of places to eat in the evening.We found the Manor House Inn to be excellent,about 15 minutes drive from the farm.Covid measures were in place,and these were explained at the beginning of our vacation.There was table service throughout breakfast ,this was reassuring,and Kay was assisted by the very able Thomas,who was very polite.Cooked breakfasts could be ordered the evening before-there were home made jams ,my wife particularly liked the strawberry and gooseberry variety. The on-suite shower room/wc was excellent,with plenty of fresh towels.

The bed mattresses and pillows need replacing ,as they are not comfortable.The TV is rather small ,considering it is a family room.The coffee/tea table also needs replacing(a minor issue).If these issues were fixed ,it would be an amazing venue!

We came across this little gem on booking.com. We found Kay and her staff very accommodating and friendly, the room was very clean and large . A good hearty breakfast served up in the mornings with tables a good distance apart for social distancing . The property is situated in a great position for site seeing with north and south coastlines only a short drive away. For those who like the outdoors the property benefits from having beautiful views and an abundance of birds and wildlife. The two lakes on the site are stocked with a good head of fish, the carp in the top lake will give you a good run for your as I found out to my surprise. Just Brilliant, peaceful Quiet. So much so we have booked to go again. Richard & Helen

Where do I start, such a friendly family. Greeted with a smile and treated so well from the start to the end of our visit. The room was spacious, clean and well stocked. The bed was really comfortable and Kay's breakfast was exceptional, the lovely Robert took care of serving our breakfast and fetching and carrying in these bizarre time. The entire family made us welcome and pointed us in the direction of fab places to visit, thank you Phil we will certainly check out the gardens in Heligan next visit.

The step down from the bathroom nearly caught us out, but it's the only thing I'd say we didn't like.
