OYO The White Horse, Ripon North Yorkshire

Absolutely fantastic hotel set in a traditional style pub. It’s in a lovely location in the centre of Ripon. We went to the races as a group, the rooms were in a gorgeous court yard, the pub served traditional food as well where we enjoyed an evening meal. Every one loved their rooms and were very comfortable. Our stay included breakfast the next day which was lovely, the lady who served us was so friendly and attentive and the chef was top notch. Honestly could not fault our stay there at all as a group of 6, every single one of the group said how lovely it was and all want to visit again for another stay. We’ll definitely all be booking to come back again :-)

Very nice and welcoming people. We were only there to sleep, really, and it fitted the bill very well. Good beds. Very nice typical English breakfast, with extremely helpful and cheerful staff. No fancy extras, but who needs them? We’d stay there again. Only a very few minutes walk from Ripon Square, where there are lots of restaurants, cafes, and a tapas bar (which is really excellent). Cash point inside Sainsbury’s, which is through, and further through an opening in square, and not well signposted. Ripon is a bit noisy with traffic during day, but much quieter at night, although there seems to be a good social life. Cathedral worth visiting. Fountains Abbey (National Trust) definitely worth the few minutes’ driving, as really beautiful.

The shower in room 2 wasn’t on originally, however, cheerful help was forthcoming immediately I mentioned it. Unfortunately the shower turned out to be either lukewarm when set on low, or red hot/very cold, on high. Fan string needs renewing, as broken, too. But not the end of the world, after all. I’d still go back.

The location is smack bang centre to enjoy ripon and surrounding areas, great for local pubs and restaurants and most within walking distance. The room was very clean and the bathroom was en-suite, and not a tiny little room which is often the case . The owners are very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was served piping hot and was a great start to the day. All in all ,it was a great experience. If I was being pickie, the only negative would be lack of direct parking, however depending on when you stay, it is possible to park on the drs. Surgery opposite(weekends) The positives far outweigh any negatives!

Ripon is a lovely town-sized cathedral city. The White Horse is located within easy strolling distance of the market square and the town's many shops, pubs and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great cooked breakfast made to order. Main bar/restaurant and rooms had been recently refurbished. Weather wasn't great while we were there, so good that it is possible to control the amount of heating in your bedroom. Kettle, tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. Outdoor table and chairs available (if you are in a courtyard room).

The shower is very small - and yet the bathroom itself is big! Room itself is quite basic, but contains all the main essentials.

I was booked in for two nights as part of a bellringing tour in the area. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially at breakfast and accommodating of the large group I was in. My newly refurbished room was clean and very comfortable with a big bathroom.

Some noise at night made it up from the pub below and my room was overlooking the road, meaning traffic noise from the local boy racers did intrude a bit. My ear plugs proved their worth and allowed me a good night's sleep.

The invidual rooms are converted stables in a courtyard out the back of the pub and are really quaint and amazing! They are really comfortable and they have everything you might need. The White Horse is in a really good location for a base where I went from and saw Ripon Cathedral, the Police and Prizon Museum and then onto the Workhouse. All of this was via the town square where the market was on.

I worried about the ventilation in the bathroom as there was no window but there was a vent.

The location in the midst of Ripon was great, and I loved being able to enter/leave my room in the stables when I felt like it. The bed was super comfy, great service with free bottles of water/shampoos/etc. Lots of breakfast options (the juice was amazing), friendly staff.

The shower is a tad small and didn't seem to maintain heat very well, good thing the weather was hot! I'd have preferred a slightly later breakfast option, 9 am isn't bad but a little early when on vacation. (Though I was still able to get a coffee past 9!)

Had a lovely one night stay at the White Horse whilst visiting our daughter and family in the area. Our accommodation was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed: Lovely and warm with very efficient heaters. The staff were all so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived until we left. Our breakfast was great as usual cooked by the friendly owner. Thank you all.

Absolutely nothing!

great location and the stable conversions were done lovely. rooms were a good size, decorated lovely and the courtyard was great. it would be lovely in the summer as little tables were next to the doors. staff were hardly ever seen but was there as required and offered everything you needed. good choice of drinks and toiletries offered in the room. we didn’t have the breakfast option, but Wetherspoons is a short walk as an option. The pub is just a few minute walk to the main square with shops, other pubs and restaurants to hand. It advised there was no parking but we managed to get parked on the street a minutes walk from the pub so that was perfect. For the price we paid, we were overall very impressed.

initially we had one room which had a single and a double bed. my daughter had the single and advised this was not comfy, we flipped the mattress and she said she would be ok. We then moved the quilt on the double bed to find a wet patch on the bottom sheet. To be fair, we advised of this and was offered a change of room immediately. the new room was very cold (they hadn’t turned the heating on as no one should have been staying there) but had everything we needed. the extractor fan did not work, a plug socket next to the bed was smashed and dust bunnies were evident but I do feel the place has real potential.

We had a room in the adjoining Stable Yard where it was quiet and we had our own outside sitting area with table and chairs provided. The room was comfortable and cool in the heat and there was a lockable store room where we could keep our bikes safely overnight. A good breakfast was served in the pub the next morning. Great location near the centre of Ripon with everything you need within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.

Don't have anything negative to say about it - it was a really good place to stay.
