Idyllic riverside location and the new restaurant since our last stay is a real additional asset with lots of light and space overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food (breakfasts and evening meal) were excellent. The staff were friendly, effective and efficient.

Bed too soft for our liking, but bed was clearly of a good quality. The shower in the bath was difficult for our elderly parents to get into i.e. to climb over the side of the bath. The kitchen extractor fan is just outside our room (room 2) bathroom window so a bit noisy. It came on about 0700 and went off about 2300 so did not disrupt sleep and I cannot see any alternative given that it comes from the excellent new restaurant addition we loved! Consider the limited parking on a Sunday afternoon as people are there for Sunday lunch and Afternoon Teas so as we arrived prior to our check in there were no spaces and we had to park in the public car park for a few hours prior to spaces opening up in the hotel car park.

Location was great, close to everything. The Hotel grounds were stunning and a lot bigger than i was expecting. The restaurant food was good quality evening meal & breakfast were good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room although small was clean and the shower was modern and powerful. loved the bathroom mirror which had a digital clock on it which was clever. Electric gated car park so felt really secure.

Surprised that there were no baked beans with the cooked breakfast which i expected as standard. Could also have a better range of pastries available.

Its a very nice hotel on the river in a small town with lawns running down to the river with boats on. Has great patio area to have a few drinks on before moving the the timber frame restaurant for dinner. I liked the food, my wife didn't but the menu was limited and very expensive. However, it has secure parking in a secluded on property car park. It was ideal for the Poole ferry. Gave it a 9 for the location and vistas.

Very expensive and the guests were on the far side of retirement. A 60 year old would be the youngest person here, but was told the guest are younger in the day time. I do suspect our vodka was on the very weak side. There was no aircon but did have a fan in the room.

Service was excellent in all aspects, staff were so courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Room was comfortable and bedding good quality. Location is brilliant for easy access to the town, but still remains quiet.

Only thing I would have liked to see better was the grouting in the shower needs a little attention in places and the wallpaper beside the bedside light was worn away by people using the pull cord repeatedly. This was in room 5. It is not a cheap room rate here so these should be resolved.

The breakfasts were lovely and the location suited us well since we had relatives coming from two different directions. The gardens were in excellent condition and a pleasure to walk through. Lastly, kudos to the great staff especially on the desk and in the restaurant.

We thought the beds a trifle tired. The bed linens were superb but these were the only beds we met on our 21 day trip that caused me a bit of a backache. It was a shame that this item let the side down.

The whole hotel was delightful. Relaxed country house atmosphere. The modern light-filled dining room extension with views across the gardens works in perfect harmony with the adjacent historic building. Bed was super comfy and the quality of the sheets was a bonus. Take time to stroll through the gardens - a hidden treasure with walks down by the river (shelter from the wind and enjoy a good book in the pod) and don't miss the chance of a croquet challenge too.

It would have been helpful to be told about the dinner, bed and breakfast price package. This wasn't offered by Booking.com so we did feel slightly aggrieved to have missed out on the quite substantial discount when we ended up being billed the full non-resident price for the evening meal. Overall the catering in the restaurant is excellent (definitely have the turbot, wonderful saffron / delicate fennel frond flavours) with interesting canapes served with your aperitif and petits fours with coffee. Breakfast was also very good (coffee could be better) but avoid the porridge at all costs!

We have stayed before and love the facilities and the hotel location, especially the riverside garden. We also liked the new dining garden room very much. The staff were friendly without being over familiar which we also appreciated. The side entrance to the suites was very convenient.

Small points but we would have liked shower mats as standard as the shower floor was especially slippery without them. As it was the mats were provided on request. We would also have appreciated firmer pillows.

We were so impressed by this quirky homely and comfortable hotel. This was our second hotel in our week away ( we had just arrived from the Macdonald Hotel and spar in Bath) and we were taken to room 10 which is the smallest room in the hotel a big difference to the suite we had just vacated .However we were absolutely delighted with this cosy comfortable room. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel on both days of our stay and was very happy with the wonderful food and service we received. The staff are very helpful and both my wife and myself shall return to this hotel in the near future .

The hotel is in a beautiful setting which in the summer sunshine is stunning Lounges on the ground and first floor allow for and enhance the relaxing atmosphere.

This is an old building so one must accept narrow stairs (in places) and a layout that takes a few moments to navigate. But I thought it charming!
