The bedroom was beautiful, the furniture and decoration was gorgeous down the the last detail, even the coolest kettle I’ve ever seen! The bed was really comfortable and gorgeous cosy bedding. The shower was lovely and Scottish Soaps products were really nice. Loads of sockets, great choice of teas and coffee, lots of interesting things to look at, and a really nice touch of a vintage radio playing classic fm on arrival. Fabulous breakfast in The Olive Branch, and all of the staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful. Great to have parking in such a central location, and it was also really quiet (apart from the church bells!). Highly recommend and would love to stay again.

Loved everything!

Loved the room (no 7), with its quirky decor and roll top copper bath. Tv, digital/Bluetooth radio, tv, kettle and tea/coffee and biscuits - what’s not to like? We had dinner and breakfast at the Olive Branch and all fine. Checkout is 11am but staff were happy for us to leave car for an hour or so after while we wandered round town. The chap with the beard who seems to be in charge at the Olive works so hard to keep things going.

It seems bit unfair to pick holes with such a great room but the one thing I think would improve the experience is increasing the wattage (with led) of the ceiling light in the shower/bathroom. It is soooo dark in there and, to be honest, the shade needs to come down and have the flies cleaned out so change bulb at same time. Also, why would you sprinkle chopped chives on the fried eggs at breakfast - who wants onion flavoured fried eggs??

The room was great fun (a wonderful model of HMS Victory and lots of hardy memorabilia) and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast at The Olive Branch, a short walk away (I think they said 150 paces, though I didn't verify this). By the way, two delights from the pleasant little town: (a) the bell ringing practice at the Minster - they are good! and (b) an excellent dinner at The Wimborne Pig. The Olive Branch looked very decent too ... but there only one night.

It took us a couple of goes round to spot the hotel: look for 1777 in Big Letters on a hanging sign.

Everything really. Especially having antique furniture, interesting and well hung pictures, very comfortable mattress, the quirky pheasant holding the remote control, cctv view over the minster, size of room, nightlight in bathroom, ease of access, breakfast (except that although there were loads of cereal options this did not include cornflakes, and fruit salad was not an option, no croissants although shown on menu). Friendliness of on site manager, Sarah.

It didn’t bother us but if it had been raining hard we would have had a soaking getting to breakfast. I realise that there is nothing that can be done about that though. Incidentally we counted 187 paces each way so if we had only done as many as the bedroom visitors guide had suggested we would have ended up in the neighbours beautiful Georgian house instead. We would not have wanted a bath in the bedroom ! It looks different and they were obviously good quality lovely looking baths but this seems to be a modern fad that we have come across and dislike intensely. There must be some who find it acceptable, even preferable, but most assuredly not us. We will ask for room 5 if/when we come again. Thank you.

Breakfast at The Olive Branch which is a short walk from the hotel. Warm greeting. Beautiful breakfast area. Buffet-style choice of pastries cereal, yoghurts, fresh fruit, toast and preserves (even fresh honeycomb to spoon into little pots) and juices. Then table service for excellent choice of hot breakfasts as well. All included in the room rate. Fantastic coffee in nice large cups and can order more if wanted. Attentive and cheerful staff. Reception/housekeeping staff so friendly and nice. Phoned to ask about parking and offered early check-in. Shown to room on arrival. Fabulous room .... Huge, warm, enormous comfortable bed and very large en-suite. Great hot drinks making facilities with premium tea and coffee and hot chocolate which was delicious. Hotel so central in Wimborne looking over the main shopping area. We spent money in the sales and notched in galleries and other independent shops. We liked the choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs nearby. We ate at the Olive Branch one night and the meal was superb!

We had to ask reception how to work the heated towel rail. It did hear up but only for short periods at a time so towels did not dry, although We could have asked for fresh ones so it wasn't a big problem. Also the shower curtain was too short over the roll-top bath so water everywhere. Checked with reception who advised they were waiting for curtain to be replaced and given plentiful bath mats which solved the problem perfectly.

These clean and tidy rooms are on the 1st and second floors of an old coaching inn, with large comfortable beds, great baths/showers, and tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and antique furniture. The Wooo Flooo meant that catering was at the Olive Tree pub. a pub called the Olive, 5 minutes walk away. However we ate breakfast outside a cafe on the square in the sunshine. You are close to the "minster" whose bells added an unexpected ambiance. My group intend to return later in the year.

Nothing worth a mention, it would sound petty.

Comfortable bed in a quirky setting. Quiet at night and well-placed for exploring Wimborne. Free parking was a great bonus, as was the excellent breakfast at The Olive Branch.

The paucity of the tea or coffee making arrangements let such a pleasant place down. a tiny cheap kettle and very small cups instead of generous mugs are not remotely what one expects or wants in this day and age. The décor of the room is dark and Dickensian by design, but the lack of a choice of stronger lighting to illuminate dark corners is a matter to be corrected, not least for H & S reasons.

A beautiful and unusual room, superbly decorated and laid out. The manager of the hotel and accompanying restaurant (The Olive Branch) was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The staff were friendly as well, offering good service. Both dinner and breakfast were very good (breakfast was included) and the baked eggs/Shakshuka and pastries were stunning.

The room was a little cool for late April. That was okay but the bathroom would have benefitted from the heated towel rail being in operation.

We had THE BEST welcome! What a fantastic team at the 1777! We arrived early and we could not have been made to feel any more welcomed. Thank you ladies! Smack dab in the middle of Wimborne, the location is perfect to visit the Minster, enjoy the wide variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants and also do a bit of clothes shopping too! There is handy parking to the rear of the property and a lovely garden to sit in. This is an historic building with bags of character, and the decor reflects this. The en-suite was spotlessly clean with a great shower. Our room was ground floor, handy with my dodgy leg and very quiet!

Unfortunately I’m not very good with firm beds! Other than that, I cannot fault this accommodation.

That was the only negative in our stay. Monday wasn’t too bad, but had to ask for the toaster to be plugged in. There was no butter which took an age to arrive and I only had 1 cup of coffee to everyone else’s several cups of tea. Tuesday was breakfast nightmare which we already logged. Today decided on poached eggs on toast. I have intolerance to vinegar........ the most revolting overcooked poached eggs I have ever been served. Nobody asked why they were untouched which was a bit annoying. Just realised I have reversed 3 and 4 so hope they get answered correctly

Certainly the staff couldn’t have been any more helpful apart from Tuesday’s breakfast staff. Not very observant to things running out, need to be mindful of replacements. All cereals were sugary, my husband is diabetic, asked for fruit and fibre or some muesli but came back and said that was all the cereals they had.
