Mackinaw City Clarion Hotel Beachfront

The staff was friendly and amiable. Our room was exceptional. I explained how someone was travelling with us who couldn't walk long distances and they nicely found a room for us that was close to the elevator, parking, and the beach. The hotel was older but rooms were beautiful and well taken care of. We enjoyed our stay here and definitely plan to come back!! 💜

We tried the free breakfast one day and never went back because it was very crowded and they ran out of food (which was mainly 'heat and serve' pancakes and ham slices). The pool wasn't working for half the week we stayed. When it was working, it was a great amenity though! (They offered us to be able to use multiple other hotel pools along the same street but we didn't). Also, if you are staying multiple days, you have to go to the lobby and ask for housekeeping before 9am daily.

We absolutely loved the location! Close to most everything we wanted to see in Mackinaw City! We absolutely loved our room too. It was a room on the 2nd floor, over the carport in the 2nd building. We were traveling with our daughter and her 3 children, so we needed beds for 6, and a larger size room. This was great. The room was larger than normal, had 2 beds and a sofa bed. Because the breakfast room was on the 2nd floor, it was the only room on our end. It was quiet...no people walking past our room or loud neighbors! It had a stairway that went only to our room. The wallpaper & decor could definitely use a facelift, but it was clean and comfortable, and perfect for what we needed. If this sounds like what you need for your stay, it's room 239. I don't think they rent it out as much, as we got it on accident, as they originally had us in a room with only 2 beds and a whirlpool tub. It was July 4th holiday weekend/week, and they were very busy. I'm so happy it turned out the way it did. If we go back to the area, I'm pretty certain I would request that room 🤣

The room could use a facelift. Housekeeping was slow to get our towels to us, but it was July 4th week, and they were near capacity if not completely full. None of these were a deal breaker though. The room wasn't fancy, and needed new wallpaper, but it was CLEAN, and roomy for 6 people

Breakfast was good. Location was also good.

We drove for three and a half hours stopping once to use the restroom. When we reached early on Jun 27, at around 12:30 pm, we requested to use the restroom, by the time our room could be ready for use, and to our surprise we were informed by the person at the desk that it was against their policy for guests to use the restroom of the lobby and the breakfast room where there is another restroom was locked. Imagine to our distress, we had to look for a public restroom or a restaurant in a city new to us just to have access to a restroom. This is the first time I have experienced such a lack of courtesy for being refused to use the restroom. I hope the hotel changes its policy in future so as guests are not received with a negative response. Thanks.

The room was a good size. It was a little outdated, but the beds were comfortable and it was clean. Loved the view from the balcony. Having a beach was nice. The Friday night fireworks were right outside our hotel. If you’re going to the island, it sits right next to the Star Line ferry.

The breakfast wasn’t good at all. When we got there about 9:15, most everything was gone and/or picked over. Not much of a breakfast. We ended up going to a restaurant for breakfast.

We were on the main floor and had a wonderful view. We could walk along the beach for quite a long stretch, it was so clean and beautiful. Best of all, this motel puts on a fireworks display twice a week.. Awesome!!

We felt there were two things that could be improved. First, the entry way to our room needed to be cleaned of the 'cobweb' type of things that were catching all types of debris. It gave the impression that perhaps our room would be dirty. Second, the Continental Breakfast was a joke!

Location was great. Just off of the Interstate and right around the corner from the Island Ferry docks.. Beach was just the other side of the hotel. Hotel staff were friendly. They called and had the shuttle come to the hotel to take us down to board the Mackinaw Island Ferry Boat so we did not have to drive our car.

You could tell it was alittle dated. Pool area was untidy probably due to kids in and out. Also, their website said they may not serve breakfast yet they had coffee, water, granola bars, and fresh apples available.

i liked that they had elevators. And the kids very much enjoyed the pool. It was also nice the pool was open until 11pm.

parking was difficult to park in some spaces and at times was hard to find a space. Also the password they gave me for the internet did not work. When i went to the front desk and asked about it she asked me if i had apple product and blamed it on that. told me to shut it down and try to rebot it but it still didn’t work. She acted like she knew this was a problem but didn’t really care.

The rooms were clean and taken care of. The staff was very nice. The view was nice from the balcony. Plenty of pillows and towels, they came in and made the beds and restocked the towels even though we were going to be there another night some hotels don't do that.

The beds were uncomfortable, very firm mattresses. The grab and go breakfast was very undesirable, even though the room was fairly priced for the price of the room it should have come with more than an apple and a granola bar and bottle of water for breakfast.

Was on 2nd floor with balcony. Facing the beach/lake. Was beautiful weather to sit out on balcony. Watched the fireworks from balcony. Walked right to the Star Line Ferry, through parking lot. Tickets available at front desk. Very friendly, great location, made fire on beach, roasted marshmallows. Very clean, no bad smells, very comfy!

Breakfast was wonderful! Pancakes, ham, muffins, yogurt, toast, boiled eggs, coffee, juice, tea... Rooms were great, the beach was wonderful, pool wasn't working but they gave us three other options nearby. Fireworks from our balcony. Walked to the ferry right next door. Very clean. Exceeded my expectations! Would stay here again!
