Thunderbird Inn of Mackinaw City

The staff was friendly and professional and accommodating. The room was clean and sufficient. The breakfast in the morning was sooooooo much better than where my family was staying. (The Hamilton...on the water) Even the people staying at the Thunderbird were friendly and most pleasant. Only around the corner from the major hotels, the Thunderbird was a good find!!

The room was a bit dated, but I did not have the impression that it was unclean. Pass the word....."Thunderbird"!

The motel is an older motel that has been nicely updated. The room was clean and well maintained. Our room was right by the Breakfast room which made it very convenient for us. My husband sleeps in and I am an early riser so I could take a book and go to the breakfast room and have my coffee and a light breakfast and read. There was a hand washing station as you come in which was very convenient and well placed. This area was nice and clean too. Breakfast consisted of your choices of lite yogurts, cereal, Donuts , toast, and make it yourself waffles. Drinks were juice and coffee.

This property is not situated on the water. We knew that but it also makes your stay more affordable and you can walk easily to the lake and the town. The pool is a bit outdated but well kept. So really nothing to negative to share .

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and in good repair. It was close (walking distance) to the ferry we took to Mackinac Island (StarLine). The beds were comfortable. The room had a fridge. The outside of the building was cute.

Nothing to complain about, really. It exceeded our expectations, given the reasonable price. There’s no continental breakfast, but that was clear ahead of time so no real complaint there.

The front desk was friendly and helpful despite being obviously understaffed. The rooms were nothing fancy but they were clean. The location was great; its was a 20 minute walk on a paved walkway to downtown Mackinac City.

There were handfuls of old roofing nails in the parking lot. Management's first response was to make excuses but they did come out to look for themselves, although I think we cleaned up most of them ourselves. The pool at Thunderbird Inn was dry. We had to go to the motel next door to swim which was ok, just not what we expected.

We experienced nice hospitality in Thunderbird inn, the receptionist was very helpful. It’s genuinely worth for the pay.coated in main area and easily connected to nearby parks , light house and near to mackinaw bridge.

Pool was fully drained out ( May be becoz of winter starting), Room , facilities everything was good except no oven / microwave. The blanket smelled lot , this is the only problem I felt thunderbird should have looked to it. Over all I highly recommend for the peaceful stay.

I liked that it was so close to town. Also, we were offered water park passes to two different water parks for free with our room. :)

No pool, refrigerator was only a freezer no matter how low you turned it down. Ruined all my fruits and veggies! Needed to be better cleaned. Had hair in the bathroom and floors were nasty.

We have stayed at the Thunderbird several times over the last 3 or 4 years. We have always counted on our room being clean and it has been. Our room had everything we needed, a comfortable clean bed, tub, shower, sink and vanity. Everything worked the way it was supposed to and it was a perfect hub for us to visit family as well as just a short walk to downtown Mackinaw City.

There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was up to the standards that we expected.🙂

The location was close to the boat docks. Comfortable bed. Decent room size. Older but clean hotel.

No breakfast. Indoor pool on the property was being renovated. Spiders hanging out on the outdoor soffit by our room door. Didn't see any in our room though. Pricey but that's Mackinaw City in the summer.

Good value for a reasonable price. Decent location that's a short trip from the major thoroughfares in Mackinaw City, and close enough to walk and especially to bike if you'd prefer to get around on your feet. Hotel staff were accessible, prompt and friendly. Room was neat and fairly clean, quality continental breakfast, and lengthy indoor pool hours if you'd like to get in a swim or refresh yourself bright and early or late in the evening to wind down. I will strongly consider staying here again the next time I visit the area.

Room was clean and stocked well and everything worked as it should. Breakfast wasn't anything special but was better than others we stayed at.

Facility was a little dated and steps to second floor balcony were built a bit unsafe compared to todays standards. We needed a laundry room as we were packed light while traveling on a motorcycle but my wife said there were plants grown up around the door as if it hadn't been used for a long time so she passed on any attempts to use it. Land scaping was a bit unkept also.
