The Kitano Hotel New York

Japanese toilet seat was excellent! Great location and staff was nice and service-oriented

No free WiFi. In 2022? In a $500/night hotel?? I thought it was a joke but apparently not. Free advice - Please change this policy immediately, you are embarassing yourself with this nonsense and causing alot of customer badwill and poor reputation

The location was superb for business or family travelers: it's within walking distance to midtown, but in a relatively quiet neighborhood separated from the busiest part of the city. The room was decent sized, and the bed was nice and comfy. Great views from the window too. The front desk and cleaning staff are nice and accommodating, too. The restaurants were closed for renovation when we visited, which was a bit unfortunate since we wanted to try.

For younger travelers or tourists, though, the location might be a bit too quiet and there aren't too many spots for entertainment nearby. Overall, the amenities are a bit worn off and look as though they're teleported from the late eighties. Also, the housekeepers will wake you up at 8am unless you put the do not disturb tag on the door, which is great if you're an early-waking business traveler but bad if you have a more night owl routine.

The ideal location: walking distance to a lot of iconic landmarks like Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, Times Square, also close to theater district. At the same time very quiet. When booking I was torn between this hotel and one that‘s very close to Times Square, being there I realized that I wouldn‘t have liked staying in this crowded and loud area. I also read about issues with the Lifts in other hotels , but this was never a problem. There are two lifts available within a few seconds. The lobby wasn‘t crowded either. A late check out at 12:30 was possible at no extra cost. The rooms aren‘t very modern, but well kept. Nothing is in need of repair. Housekeeping was excellent. The front desk is really helpful, provided us with all kinds of things (e.g. utensils, extra pillows, extra towels brought to our rooms). We experienced a Kind of hospitality that seems to be common in the USA but surprising for Europeans. There was even a doorman!

The only thing that I didn‘t like was the wifi-situation. Not only are guests supposed to pay 10$ per day, it didn‘t work at all. I had to reconnect literally every five minutes. When I mentioned this during check out they at least waived the 60$ for our six nights .

Great location, quiet sanctuary in a busy city. Our room had a view of Empire State Building which was a real treat. The rooftop bar is fabulous with a rear rooftop to see the Empire State Building and the front balcony offers a great view of Chrysler, Grand Central station and met life. Very easy to get to grand central and use the subway to get about. We didn’t fancy room service breakfast and so wandered a couple of blocks east and found plenty of independent coffee places with bagels to have for breakfast. There is a Starbucks two blocks north also. We use Bryant Park a lot too which was very easy to get to, and have a pizza picnic for dinner one warm evening. The decor is old school Manhattan and immaculately clean. Staff are efficient and helpful and not in your face, previous hotels have been a little too ‘have a nice day’ for us. Rooms made up each day.

We loved it all. Won’t stay anywhere else in NYC

It was a very comfortable stay in New York. The hotel is located on Park Avenue so I had a glance to this boulevard from my window, but it was not noisy at all. The room was not very big but very elegant and it was really convenient and comfortable to stay there. The bathroom was compliant to Japanese standards! As the restaurant was closed, I had breakfast in my room (both Japanese and American breakfast was delicious!) The rooftop bar was amazing, with sparkling sake and polite service. And this is what I especially liked in this hotel - the impeccable service and friendly staff. I would like to be back soon!

It's a pity the restaurant was closed due to renovation. I hope to come back to the hotel and be able to enjoy the restaurant as well.

The Kitano was fantastic! I asked for a quiet room and got an extremely quiet room - heard nothing from neighbors nor the outside. The room was extremely spacious, clean, and comfortable. Extremely close to both grand central and NY Penn Station so commuting was easy. We left our backpack in the lobby when we had left and they kept it for us. Honestly, the entire process and staff were amazing!! Early check-in/Late check-out wasn't difficult at all. Bonus - though they didn't have an ironing table/iron in the room itself, you can get it on request and they brought it up really quickly.

TV could be upgraded but this is nitpicky. The restaurants are closed unfortunately - but the rooftop bar is open! View of the city wasn't great from our room, but wasn't really a big issue for us.

Great location, beautiful lobby, attractive room, lovely bathroom, wonderful toiletries , linens and towels.

We were not pleased with the mattress which was much too soft. Staff came and flipped the mattress which helped but didn’t solve the problem entirely. We also needed a small refrigerator brought to the room because we travel with a medication that must be refrigerated. We had to pay a fee for the refrigerator. I have traveled widely on 4 continents and never have I been charged before for a refrigerator.

The staff is so very helpful and thoughtful!

It would have been better if Wi-Fi was available for free.

Warm greeting by all the staff. The mini bar was a surprising deal of $40 for all the contents which really hit the spot after a long day of travel. We had a good view of the Empire State Building. Absolutely loved the bidet in the bathroom which included a heated seat and several cleaning options. Really nice perk! Room service coffee was delivered in under 5 minutes and was reasonably priced including tip. The location was stellar offering an easy walk to great restaurants and shopping.

Due to COVID their restaurant was closed and there was no in room coffee. The staff did an amazing job compensating with room service and genuine friendliness.

the hotel is big, well decorated, was clean and my room was very comfortable.

i have two negative points: 1 - In 2022, in NYC, one of the biggest cities of the world, it’s unacceptable a hotel that charges for the internet. $10 per day is something almost impossible if imagining, due to the fact that I could find internet in every Starbucks or restaurants for free. 2 - the check out at 11am in very early, since it’s not market practice and being in Manhattan, where people stand up late at night.
