Wingate by Wyndham New York Midtown South/5th Ave

Excellent location, a 10 minutes walk from Grand Central Station and around 7 minutes walk to Times Square. Easy access to the subway/buses. The room was very small but we knew already and it didn't represent an issue for us, we had all the space we needed. Very comfortable bed, big TV screen, good choice of teas and coffee in the room, great water pressure from the shower. Complimentary breakfast is a big plus - too bad they didn't have any dairy free milk/options in general, but it was good overall. We would recommend it for a couple/friends travelling together.

The room was a bit noisy sometimes - I think the noise came from the mini fridge and from the air con system. It didn't bother us that much to raise a complaint, but definitely something to point out. Very cold air in the hotel, but that is a US thing apparently (very cold air con everywhere), so not really the hotel's fault, luckily the room wasn't affected.

Hotel is in a great central location, the room had everything you need, comfortable bed, good shower and clean. As a sole female it felt a safe location to be walking back to at night.

The room was small which is to be expected, it was comfortable for one but would be a squeeze for two. If there were two in the room for longer than a couple of days it would be worth paying extra for more space. Also no full length mirror.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The room was so comfortable and the shower room was well sized. Rooms in New York are small, this was small but we expected that and it was really nicely kitted out and decorated. Spotlessly clean. Lifts are fast. Staff are all friendly and helpful. We paid for a Gotham view. It was worth every penny! Situated on the 17th floor and just a beautiful view day and night. The included breakfast was a real bonus! Great variety. The location on 5th avenue is great too. Really central. We walked everywhere! Everyday when we returned our bed was all neat and the room was cool. Just lovely to arrive back to! Should mention there was a fridge in the room as well as a coffee machine. Just great. We’d recommend this hotel to anyone.

The dining area is snug but we always managed to find a space. We loved everything!

The hotel is really central, 5min to Bryant park and 15min to times square. Rooms are not super big but you don't spend much time there. Everything is clean and breakfast is included, is not much but you have some sweets, toast, bagels, you can make waffles. Place where you have breakfast is small but you can take it to take away. Personal was super nice and very helpful and price for NY was very good. 100% recommended

Brilliant location and view of the Empire State Building from the room was fantastic. Happy they provided a steamer as well and the one I brought from home did not work.

There is a Pre authorisation fee for 1st night that was not made clear before check in. It is an additional fee which you will not be refunded until after checkout (I received the refund a week later). So it meant I was still charged the full stay despite having paid for the 1st night so be aware of this fee when booking.

Overall, it was a good room, with comfortable bed. There was a mini fridge and complimentary tea and coffee. The internet was good and I was able to work when needed.

The room is quite small. Since I was travelling alone it felt ok, bit if you are two people it might feel crowded. The room is not cleaned for the first 3 nights, and after that you have to specifically ask for it in advance - something I haven't seen in any other places. The sound insulation could be better. When the guests from the room next to mine came back at 2 am I woke up since I could hear them talking (loud) and making noise like they were in the same room with me. The shower was good (size and installation), but the drainage had issues and by the time you would finish your shower you would find yourself staying in a pool of water.

The room was quite small but very clean and comfortable with small fridge and coffee machine.Perfect location in Manhattan downtown, walking distance to Empire state building, NY time square, the state library and shops.Friendly, supported and professional staff. The breakfast was fine, cooking food, fruits, drinks, different cakes and sweets if you like. The taste was different, I personally preferred the English breakfast.

Very comfy beds and well equipped and clean rooms. Perfect for a one night stay if you find yourself in the city. Great to have the 24hr checkin!

Breakfast was quite disappointing. The ‘restaurant’ was small and some people had to stand up and eat. Small bread selecation, when we got down they were out of both bacon and eggs, which were the only things one can put on bread. Quite poor if you are not into sweet breakfast (waffles or cereal). The use of disposable cutlery feels is wasteful and not environmentally friendly. There was a strange extra charge of 30$ dollars added to the room and we do not know where it came from.

The hotel was in a great location - near to both Penn Station (so easy from JFK on Airtrain and then LIRR), and Grand Central where I was getting a train to Connecticut. But it’s also near lots of shops, Bryant Park, Empire State and Chrysler Building etc. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was very clean, it was modern and new, the bed was comfortable and the TV worked (and was showing the World Cup!). I was worried that for the price it wouldn’t live up to the pictures, but it did and was probably better. Great little tea/coffee machine, a microwave and a fridge. The breakfast room isn’t huge, and everyone leaves it late (though reception warned me about that. But I grabbed a coffee, some fruits and a croissant and went back to my bedroom to have. Very happy and would stay again. Even had a view of the Empire State from my bed!

My room was a bit cold - which was probably my fault as didn’t figure out the wall control. Maybe some guidance notes on how to work things like the TV and heating/AC would be handy?

The room was clean and comfortable with adequate space for luggage. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location

The breakfast. Very disappointing : a bag with sugary low quality 'plastic' stuff. Please improve the quality of food items provided under the promise of 'breakfast included'.
