great location. Lovely bar

lost property was a problem but my fault for leaving something in the room

I was very happy with the location of the hotel as it is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops and also Grand Central Station. The property has a lot of character and charm. I loved how each room has a specific collection of books. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I changed rooms in the middle of my stay and they were very happy to accommodate me. I enjoyed the 24 hour reading room where I was able to enjoy refreshments. The rooftop bar was also a great place to have a drink and enjoy the majesty of Manhattan.

My first room had a bed that faced the mirror and I had difficulty sleeping the first two nights. I spoke to reception and they offered me the junior suite which was very spacious and faced a window with a great view of downtown Manhattan. I was happy to pay the difference. The last two nights of my stay were excellent and I am very grateful that the hotel was able to help me with my issue. I will most definitely return.

Gorgeous small boutique hotel in the heart of Midtown. From the location to the super-friendly and efficient service to the decor to the many items available in the coffee-room/library, this hotel exceeded my expectations. Good size room for NYC, too. subway a block away and Grand Central right nearby. Would 100% stay there again.

Really can't think of a single thing. If I was to nitpick, I'd say the lighting was very either all on or all off, but even that was managed with a single separate lamp for mood lighting.

Centrally located property made it easy to access all the sights of the city. The hotel has library section related rooms which gave the hotel a unique and bespoke feel. The staff were all helpful and friendly and would go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

The rooftop bar, whilst very nice and providing great sights over the city, isn’t run by the hotel and so provides a slight ‘disconnect’ to the rest of the experience.

Helpful staff. Especially love the 24 hour lounge. Very comfortable and welcoming. We enjoy this hotel very much--so much that we convinced ourselves to stay in the smallest room because larger rooms were not available for the duration of our stay. The description said it was best for one guest and that was true. But, we made the most of it and spent more time in the lounge---a great place to work quietly and have coffee.

Location was great for a short stay in Manhattan, with everything we needed within a ten minute walk. Very helpful front desk, both at check in and check out (very early). Parking garage around the corner had a special discount for hotel guests, which was great and easy to use, again especially for a very early drive to JFK to catch an early flight home. Roof top bar and terrace was buzzy with a great vibe and awesome free snacks for hotel guests when you order an aperitif!

Room was tiny, even for NYC standards, but clean and functional nonetheless.

The location makes everything accessible. The rooftop bar, Madison & Vine restaurant, VERY comfortable bed, a quiet hotel (besides normal city street noise), and the reading room are all great too. Love the concept of books everywhere available to read.

The rooms are fairly small. Some things were a little worn (specifically the blinds and shades), and the HVAC system isn’t the greatest, but very minor things that would not deter me from revisiting.

The staff was very helpful, especially Courtney. The second floor lounge was a nice place to hangout. Having snacks and espresso there at all times was a bonus. The decor of the hotel was charming. It felt more like a boutique hotel than a big chain. The location was excellent.

There was a fantastic bar and lounge on the rooftop. Unfortunately, it was rented out three of the four nights we were there. Since it was one of the reasons I chose this hotel, that was a big disappointment. The bar and lounge really should be available to the guests at all times, like the 2nd floor lounge.

The location is great. And the staff and service is excellent. The communal area on the second floor is really useful, convenient and relaxing.

My only critique (which was not a major issue) is that the aircons in the rooms feel quite outdated.

Really good location, close to Grand Central Station . Loved the book/library theme, felt cosy. Great to have the "library" with drinks and snacks, good to hang out waiting fir the teenagers. Staff really helpful with breakfast recommendations and organising taxi to airport.

Nothing, they even camouflaged the scaffolding with Christmas decorations
