Amherst Inn - Virginia

This has to be the nicest motel I've stayed my life of 72 years. It reminds you of the 50-60' roadside motels of my youth. But that's where it fools you, the outside is very attractive, when you enter the room it's as if you've entered a 4-star NYC hotel. I'm not kidding whomever restored/decorated interior are absolutely the "Best"! I've would have given it a 6-7 star rating if available. It had everything my wife would have wanted and more. Come on ladies it's not easy to satisfy you at times, but my wife was even blown away by the "Amherst Inn". Don't believe, try for yourself, you'll be glad you did.

What an amazing surprise this place is. Always wanted to stay in a roadside Motel and were expecting something a lot less comfortable. Awesome all the little details to make the stay memorable. Great snacks, amenities and even a booklet to help find everything in town one might need!

Maybe location is not really picturesque but actually cannot think of anything!

Location. Very little to no access to property around the hotel. Room is very small for 3 people and the throws and extra pillows just get in the way. Only a desk chair. No chair with arms for relaxing. Utilizes the small space very well but a comfortable chair to rest in would have been great.

I liked the entire setup and room. The renovations are nice and they had plenty of amenities for all my needs. Very clean.

The bed was just a little stiff for my personal taste and while the water pressure an shower head were great the shower stall was a bit small for me since I am a large man

It doesn’t look like much from the road, but the owners have put a lot of effort into making it a great place to stay. The waterfall shower—though a small stall—is amazing, as are the beds (quality mattress, lots of pillows, extra blankets). The personal touches are lovely. Books, snacks, and other homey touches fill the rooms. This is my second stay. It is the only game in town, in my opinion.

There is no getting around the fact that the building is small and dated, though the owners have done their best to improve the quality of the rooms. From the road, I never would have stayed (just looks like another dingy inn but not off-putting) but the reviews were great, as were the pictures. Other than the rooms being a little cramped (and not a huge fan of the a/c), I would highly recommend this place in all other regards. I really respect what the owners have done with what they have. If they ever get the opportunity to renovate the rooms/space and upgrade the a/c/heat, it would be quite the place.

Very clean room and comfortable. Liked the in-room coffee and snacks. Did not know it was a motel but only reason it concerned me was that I was traveling alone, it was late and I was on the end unit so I hurried into my room

Very well maintained older "motor inn. It was very clean and well thought out. The decor was cute and the room was cozy. The staff was very responsive and helpful.

Location to my destination. I was in town a participant with the Liberty University graduation.

No Handicap accessible options. My elderly and handicapped mother traveled with me.

The room was very inviting. Beautiful decor and had snacks and every toiletry you could possibly need. I found that little touch to be the star point. The room was exceptionally clean and everything was in great working order for such a small older motel I was wonderfully surprised. The owners were kind and very helpful to any questions we had. They even had a very nice Gazebo set up for the smokers... Instead of some dark corner to the side :) I personally appreciated that consideration. Thank you guys for a great stay. You have really brought the home into your motel. Loved it!!

Rooms are a little smaller then usual. I can't complain though because the room was set up so efficiently it never even crossed my mind again.
