One word: magnificent If you decide to stay on the "stage of the world" - Salzburg, then this Hotel is the adequate representive of this captivating city. Not only the marvellous location and the historical building makes Hôtel Bristol a gem in the hotellerie, but its attentive staff to a jewel that seeks its own kind. From the point you arrive until your departure you can be sure of one thing: you will be taken good care off! The welcoming "doorman", over to the competent reception staff and service personel to the thorough and courteous housekeeping.... it is indeed worthy, that this hotel is facing the residence of Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart since it is a symphony on its own! Since i have a rather good knowledge of several hotels in Salzburg i can say with confidence, that this is the best choice in regards of price / performance ratio that you will find; sure if you have "stupid money to burn", then there is a certain hotel that is located on a hill, but if you are a "budged luxurious traveller" like me, you will not find a more suitable accomodation that takes great pride also of the history than this one. When i have family / friends that are asking about a good hotel in Salzburg, then i can say with good consciousness and without any hesitation: Hôtel Bristol!

The Bristol is a first class hotel. The location was terrific.

From the moment we stepped out of the car and checked in to the moment we checked out everything in between was so perfect. The Hotel staff were so helpful, kind and pleasant. The ambience of the property, the various art and sculptures, the spacious rooms well decorated gave an absolutely warm and welcoming feeling. The breakfast was very comprehensive and delicious with so many options. The location, just right, walking distance to the beautiful river walk and across the river to old town and castle. Far exceeded rexpectations!

Excellent location, great breakfast spread with wonderful staff greeting you as you stepped into the restaurant. Housekeeping is efficient and the reception staff helpful. Stayed at the single room and although i was initially worried that it will be a tiny room, it was actually spacious enough for me and the bed is very comfortable. Best experience in all the 4 hotels I stayed during my 2 weeks stay in Germany and Austria. I will definitely choose to stay at the same hotel if I return to Salzburg. Highly recommended.

No fitness centre nor in-house spa.

Perhaps the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in, despite being in beautiful hotels all over the world, mostly because of the little touches: hot towel rack, exquisite chandelier, gorgeous armoire, balcony with table & chairs and flower boxes, complimentary beverages in refrigerator, great noise insulation, and more.

Firm mattress, but management brought in a nice foam topper, and gave us extra pillows. No hair conditioner.

The hotel was absolutely stunning inside and out. Very old world with tons of character. If you're looking for a hotel that is centrally located. walking distance to the river/bridges, shopping, restaurants, then this is it. On the higher end of the price point, but worth every penny. The staff was friendly, the lounge charming, bar food very tasty and drinks very crafty.

The restaurant shut down the day after we arrived. We were really looking forward to dining at the hotel given we would be arriving later one evening and didn't want to find a place to eat out when we were told that they had 'no cook' and that there would be no service and was not offered any real recommendations. Very inconvenient and disappointing. Checkout: upon checkout, which happened to be at 3am to catch an early flight, the night desk attendant had no idea how to check us out. She fumbled her way through it, but delayed us quite a bit. Also, arranging a taxi was not convenient. There were four of us with 2 bags each and they had to bring 2 cars and split us up, rather than call a minivan. Not great when you have 2 older travelers who need assistance.

The breakfast, in stunning breakfast room, was an issue as the hot food was cold but our experience was totally untypical of the normal very high standards delivered by this hotel. It was a one off. Most of the staff are welcoming and very friendly and all are highly professional. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a fantastic location. There is so much to do. Beautiful restaurants and shops. Trips to the stunning mountainous country side and alps. The Sound of Music tour was awesome as was the Bavarian Alps trip.

We did have a couple of issues around the breakfast and some housekeeping matters. We also felt that a more convivial atmosphere could have been evident in the hotel bar. As with the issues we raised around breakfast etc we found the hotel owner to seriously take our comments on board and any issues were resolved very quickly indeed. That is the sign of an organisation committed to high standards of customer service. In the square there is a monastery so church bells ring throughout the day but to be fair they are all across the city not just the area of this hotel. Whilst they are lovely you may wish to ask for a quiet room if they are not your thing. The hotel will offer you this ab no problem

The hotel room was beautiful and the bathroom very spacious with both a bathtub and a shower. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. The service was also very good.

There was a small blunder when we arrived. We were on our honeymoon and had been promised a bottle of sparkling wine on our room. When we arrived, there were chocolates on the bed. We thought maybe it was another greeting but two minutes later the receptionist came and took them away, apologizing that they were for another room. We then had to ask about the bottle of sparkling, since it was obviously forgotten. But apart from that everything went smoothly and the service was very good.

The hotel has history and charm in loads. The rooms are perfectly unkept and cleaned. With plush carpets, very comfortable. The staff were marvelous and service extremely personal. The location is great being just across the river from the old city

The hotel, with its history, is next to the church the bells start going off at 7 am. It’s not that obtrusive because the soundproofing is good but if you’re a late sleeper, might be an issue.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent central location for all key sights and public transport. Historic building with characterful furnishings. Complimentary soft drinks in minibar and water regularly replenished. Air conditioning most welcome in unseasonably hot weather! Good breakfast.
