We loved our stay- we are a family of 4 and took 2 rooms in the hotel as opposed to the chalet. It was clean, comfortable, staff bend over backwards for you and the facilities for pre/ post skiing were perfect- the warmest boot room ever! We had shuttles all over the resort whenever the staff were free to help us they were amazing. I have never been so upset to leave such a brilliant hotel crew! Mimi’s degustation, the Italian crew in the restaurant and cocktails (Dante- best cocktails we’ve had!)

This is not fancy, it’s a little dated and more Japanese in style and you have to be ok that not all rooms have a shower- ours did but my daughters didn’t and we used the Onsen everyday after the slopes and it was perfect. The fancy part is Mimis restaurant and bar- both amazing

Usually you check in, and check out, sleep, shower, and never engage with the hotel much more than that. The Phoenix is a different experience. You have a direct line to the team via Whatsapp. They're happy to book you dinner reservations, shuttle you around, guide you to the best pow, and in general be there when you need them. It's like having a mate, who's a local, and has nothing else to do besides lend you a hand when you need them. It's a tiny 12 room hotel with an onsen and a wonderful steam shower, near to everything. Also has one of the nicest restaurants in Hakuba and a solid breakfast. We'll be back. Thanks to the whole team here. You are all awesome people.

It would be great if breakfast started earlier, say 630, so that you could make it to some of the further resorts for fresh tracks.

I was overall happy with the hotel and location. The room was surprisingly big and I liked the onsen. The breakfast was nice and they provide a shuttle to lifts but you can actually walk over (10min) to one of the base lifts, pretty easy. However, it's a bit secluded from the main town (15min walk) and it's uphill so be ready for a little workout if you go shopping/dinning.

Can't really complain about anything other than weather. It was very warm for early January, half of the mountain was closed unfortunately (very thin cover) and raining instead of snowing. Unfortunately this might be the trend with climate changes and Hokkaido seems much safer bet for japow.

We enjoyed our stay here very much but unfortunately there is very little ‘off piste’ connection with other guests & we believe that the cost of drinks from the bar are prohibitive for most guests. There is a delightful lounge but no one using it?? There were no vending machines for cold beer or an area you might even take your own super market bought drinks & share some conversations with others. The meal at Mimi’s was awesome but thought that the extra cost of wine should have been included as are in most ‘degustation’ menus these days. The Italian staff were delightful. Dry room excellent as is free use of laundry.

No atmosphere No beer in vending machine Degustation menu but had to pay extra for wine matching AUD 90.00 each. Just include in menu. Cost of drinks from the bar prohibitive AUD 46.00 for two glasses of Chianti.

Comfortable fluffy blanket and memory foam like pillows. Spacious room, free nespresso pod coffees. Chauffeur shuttle to and from base camp and other resorts (if available). Masa (driver) was awesome! Good shower pressure and temperature! Breakfast ala carte was delicious!

Location not near food (but only 10-15min walk)

Great location if one prefers Wadano area Spacious rooms Loved the Japanese style rooms Good breakfast, though lack of a changing menu would be an issue fir longer stay Staff were great So friendly and helpful Has its own shuttle van and they do try to accommodate guests needs Onsen is good but not large We would stay here again

Nothing really In house restaurant is very expensive so we ate out Similarly the bar is pricey so we didn’t yse it much

Staff was friendly, provided shuttle to and from lifts and to bus terminal.

Location not bad, but still a little bit of distance to lawson and rest of nearby restaurants (15min walk). A shame steam room wasn't working. But biggest thing I was upset with is the 5000 yen per luggage charge for use of takkyubin service. (Would have normally costed 2730 yen as per black cat website). Our hotel in tokyo did not have such a surcharge at all.

The friendly helpful staff, the shuttle service to restaurants and the village well and truly compensated for being slightly out of Happo one villlage. The Onsen was so relaxing and the atmosphere very relaxing.

Lack of variety of fresh fruit but understand it was winter time.

Visited from Dec. 26th to Dec. 28th (before the peak season began). Operates shuttles to Goryu/Hakuba47 and Happo-one in the morning at 8am and 9am and back to the hotel at 3pm and 4pm. Picked us up at the Happo Terminal at check in and gave us a ride back at check out. Phoenix provided shuttle rides to nearby places in the evening at request. Extremely friendly staffs and great service. Breakfast was great! Highly recommended. Walking distance from Lawson, rental shops (Rhythm Hakuba), and other restaurants.

The team went above and beyond for us during our stay. The rooms to some might seem tired. We appreciated the charm, character and the local touch. Breakfast was superb!

Sharing a bathroom wasn’t amazing. However, we never saw another soul using them nor did we have to wait. So, it was fine really.
