I loved this hotel, yes it's dated no denying that but I had a huge room full size bath, the most incredible breakfasts. Staff were lovely especially the breakfast staff, so nice and helpful. The location is terrific 5 mins walk from Nara Station and 10 mins or less from Kintetsu station. They kept my luggage for me after checking out, couldn't be more helpful, I was genuinely sorry to leave here. Incredible value for money

Nothing really, yes it's outdated as far as decor goes but for the amount I paid for the room I'm happy for the decor to be a bit lacking, it was still clean

The hotel is very authentic. "The hotel has a charming vintage vibe, full of stories from years past. Our room, 'Fuju,' was spacious and incredibly comfortable. The staff were exceptional, and the location couldn't have been better—close to Nara Park and the station. While they didn't have washing machines on-site, there's a convenient facility just a 7-minute walk away. The onsen was a good experience to end your day with. Pluses, the hotel lobby has items for sale, good for last-minute suviners

In our room, 'Fuju,' there wasn't a private bathroom, so we had to use the common onsen. As someone who prefers privacy, I was initially disappointed. However, to my surprise, the onsen was empty, allowing me to enjoy a quick bath without any concerns about sharing the space with strangers.

I took a traditional room and it was worth it ! I just stayed one night but it was so fun to experience this kind of room 😊 The hotel is near the JR train station like 10min walk and about 15mim walk from the park 😊 It has a little shop with Shikamaro products, Nara’s cute mascot, and more ! It also has a restaurant, I couldn’t try it because I didn’t book it in advance (2 days before at least) 😅 but I could try the restaurant room for breakfast where you have to remove your shoes at the entrance 😆 The hotel lobby and restaurant have this kind of cosy atmosphere where you feel comfortable. The reception also helps to feel at ease, they’re very kind 😊 ありがとうございます!

The atmosphere of this hotel was really warm and the restaurant really beautiful. The room was also very spacious. Staff couldnt speak English very well but we got by with a mix of broken English and my broken Japanese :D The staff was also super friendly and helpful. I wanted to have my luggage delivered to the airport in advance and they made it super simple.

Quite honestly the only downside was, Outdated rooms. The traditional feel is perfect, but the carpet and furniture are not in the best shape. If there was a good renovation I'd give it a 10/10.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were a decent size and clean. There is a private bath down in the basement and also a public bath which you can book which was really nice. My husband has tattoos so it was nice that we were able to use the private bath. The lobby was very welcoming and cosy. Location was ideal as it was only a short walk from Nara park and the deers :)

I cant think of anything that i didnt like in particular.

Located a five minute walk from ‘Nara Park’ and the main shopping/dining streets, Hotel Asyl Nara is conveniently central. Helpful and friendly staff, nice Onsen and delicious breakfast - all for a very good price! Room was spacious and quiet. A lovely, little shop with local gifts in the lobby. Added bonus was the Saturday night, Golden Week free bar. Family oriented and cozy atmosphere.

Everything was great!

We stayed in the maisonette and it was perfect for a small group as it was spacious, was two storeys, and had a small kitchen. It’s charming and has loads of character. There was a cedar bath, which we loved, and a small onsen onsite.

If travelling in a group , be aware there is only one bathroom for both floors.

Short walk from JR Nara Station and Kintetsu Nara Station. Bus stop very close to hotel. Large rooms, comfortable beds. Really nice, clean public bath. Very reasonable price.

Although they keep it as clean as they can, this hotel has seen better days - carpets are stained, some wallpaper peeling off….

Good breakfast - Japanese style Staff very nice and friendly - they even provided an adaptor to me to help to recharge my appliances. The hotel is quite close to Nara train station and to the bus stop to reach Nara park

Some noise (TV) during the night from my neighbor room> The staff promptly talked to them and solved the problem - very efficient and considerate.

We stayed there for the new year. The dinner was fantastic (even though there was a LOT of food), and the staff even organized a soba service for free for everyone to celebrate the new year in a traditional japanese way. There was also a free bar and a hearth.
