Wonderful experience. Great, clean rooms, lovely facilities (especially BAHR), and friendly, efficient staff, especially Nicholau at reception and Caroline in the restaurant. Very good English speakers. Lots of little touches made the stay pleasant and memorable.

We were surprised by Eduardo at reception asking for a tip "for the reception" during the check-out process. I've not had that request at similar hotels before, even in the USA, so it took me by surprise in Portugal. I suggest removing that step from the process, as it seemed out of place and a little trashy.

highly recommend Bairro Alto Hotel for a stay in Lisbon! great location - very central, rooms were very nice - great decor, classy/authentic - great boutique feeling to it, staff very friendly, really pretty views from both the restaurant and the rooftop bar. would definitely stay here again / recommend to others!

Colossal location, everything is nearby, in the heart of Lisbon's old town. The hotel is modern, comfortable, with quality decoration and furniture. Very comfortable double bed mattress, we were able to get a full night's sleep. I liked that breakfast is served with a menu, since you can't overeat like at the buffet :) You can enjoy breakfast on a wonderful terrace, where a beautiful view of Lisbon opens up. This restaurant is considered one of the best in Lisbon, so you have to reserve a place in time to, for example, go to dinner. Daily cleaning is carried out at a high level, and all our things were arranged down to the smallest detail, I really liked it! There were also very tasty nuts :) Thank you!

We lacked lighting in the room in the evenings when the lights had to be turned on. "Long-thinking" elevator.

This was our second stay here and now that it has had a renovation it was even better. You can not get more central and the drinks deck has an amazing view out over the harbour, as does the breakfast area. All al a carte breakfast and excellent, quick service. Best we have had .

Unfortunately the traffic light malfunctioned during the night outside the hotel and even with double glazed windows the constant car horns was not good. An unusual event which they apologised about. Just took the shine off a great hotel.

Written instructions in room for , curtains, doors, coffee machine, tv sound in bathroom. Initial familiarisation was not sufficient. Eg not told that tv sound control in bathroom was behind mirror. Having said that staff came immediately to help.

An absolutely stunning renovation of a 100 year old building. The finishing touches are top notch and reinforce the complete luxury of this hotel.

The light switches are too complicated for their own good.

Nicely decorated hotel in an impressive building. The staff were nice (welcome drink on arrival was a nice touch and our bag handlers were warm and helpful). The rooftop bar was a nice place for a drink pre-dinner and breakfast was tasty. Would happily stay again!

A couple of times we had to wait for the lifts when it became busy, but I imagine it's difficult to install more of these in such an old building.. anyway using the stairs is good !

ALL of the staff were exceptionally friendly and ready to help us in every way. There was usually a surprise from housekeeping when we returned from a long day… mint water, chocolates…The breakfast on the patio overlooking the Tagus was delicious with local specialties and tons of choices. Our room was quiet and comfortable and the bathroom had double sinks and double rain shower heads. Great mattress and lovely sheets with the hotel logo. Coming back to the hotel after a long day was always a joy!

Modern, lovely hotel in a great location

They have a stupid door key system which involves heavy metal keys rather than plastic cards. It means having to hand the key into the desk all the time when leaving the hotel and limits on how many room keys you can have (for multiple travellers). The keys also struggle to be read by the sensors in the lifts which means most people have trouble operating the lifts.
