Location: the BEST, incomparable, close to Dhoby Ghaut MRT (Red line) & Bencoolen MRT (Blue line) that get one everywhere. Bus stop right in front of the YMCA. Next to the National Museum of Singapore, Fort Canning Park (Tiong Bahru Bakery for breakfast & coffee is divine), right at the start of Orchard Rd where one can shop till you drop, one MRT stop to Newton Food Centre, one easy stroll down Bencoolen St or Princep (then Selegie) Street to Little India. Room: clean, comfortable, good to have a shower & have sleep. In the end, who travels to Singapore to stay in a hotel room all day? Rooms are serviced twice a week, and you can ask for clean towels and extra toilet rolls and the speedy room service will deliver to you. Many untidy people treat hotel rooms like pig styes, don't do that and you wouldn't need daily service. Breakfast: didn't try as there are so many more options outside. Why would one pay to stay anywhere else? If you have too much money and ego and are willing to pay for Hilton and the like, go for it it is your freedom. If you are poor and only want to stay in one of the Cube capsule cubicles, no one stops you. But for pure comfort at such an affordable price & value for money, YMCA is the best. Plus, at YMCA, God protect and look after you, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. WILL STAY AT YMCA forever & whenever travelling to Singapore.

Located very close to Dhoby Ghaut interchange the Hotel is very well situated. The room was basic but functional. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. We had no issues with noise although you must remember this is a community active YMCA so lots going on. Very friendly staff.

No bars of soap just a single soap dispenser in the shower. It was almost impossible to achieve the correct water temperature with the shower. The shower was not user friendly and dont forget the switch on the immersion heater if you want hot water for your shower.

Location central to a lot of places. Good food places around, easy to get to MRT and travel by foot. Lots of shopping centres nearby as well. Staff were very kind and helpful. Room was comfortable and very good value for the price. Bathroom was kept clean and the beds were made nicely. We were quite impressed overall with the standard maintained by the staff. We needed a step-down adapter to charge a laptop and were about to go out and buy one. We asked the staff where we could purchase one, and they offered to let us borrow theirs and return it at the end of our stay. We really appreciated this. There is also 24/7 service at the front desk, so checking out at 3am was a breeze. The area is safe and we had no problems going around at night. Perfect for young travelers.

There was a half-eaten ice-cream left behind from the previous occupant in the freezer for the entire duration of our stay so I don't think it had been checked properly. But this didn't bother us as we didn't need to use the freezer itself. The beds tended to roll around a bit on the hard floor which made it a bit difficult to sit up and lean against the headboard. There were some kids staying in the rooms down the hallway from us, who were very loud, screaming and running in the corridor. The rooms aren't very sound proof but overall wasn't a problem, as long as you keep private conversations quiet.

We had a twin bed room for 2 persons. The location was great for coming from the airport with bus number 36 (bus stop right in front), also for exploring Singapore (especially Little India where people were preparing for Deepawali) on foot and by MRT (Dhoby Ghaut station). Overall the atmosphere in the YMCA was good, we could do early check in without extra charge (much appreciated after a long flight), cleaning of rooms was twice a week. The swimming pool on the roof top was great (one had to go down to the reception to exchange the access card from room access to swimming pool access). The air condition worked (the wind was a bit too strong though especially since there were no blankets, only sheets), the water kettle worked, there were 2 small bottles of drinking water upon arrival which we could regularly refill on the 4th floor and some tea bags. The bathroom (including the shower) was big enough. The water for taking shower was sufficiently warm. Check out was easy and fast. The Waterloo Street Food Court (Hawker Center) was in 10 min walking distance. We took a warm vegetarian meal there every day for as little as S$ 3-4.5 per person. A great and close place for a clean low cost meal.

While the first few days (a week end) were quiet it became very loud when groups organized through YMCA (? not sure, but assume) started their evening activities; music, dance, microphone. One could not sleep before 10pm. But that was not all: there were groups of guests on our corridor (8th floor) (participants from the evening activities? not sure) who did not know how to behave in a place shared by many others. They shouted from one room to the next, quarrelled loudly, banged the doors. Asking them to be more quiet did not help. It was truly annoying. They lacked any understanding for the situation of others. We took breakfast in the Social Kitchen (4th floor) once. It was good, but we found it very expensive.

Location: Excellent! walkable to everywhere we want to go. It is right in the art precinct and close to Orchard Rd. Simplicity: Everything works, simple room, simple design, clean, and comfortable. Staff: They are all very kind and provide good service.

There should be an option for a double bed. The air conditioning in the corridor is very strong. Throughout our stay, we didn't need air-con in the room. The cool air seeped through. There should be a safe deposit in the room.

Location is brilliant. Close enough to walk to the city, very close to the subway - it's relatively quiet and lots of greenery around. Especially Fort canning park which is a very pleasant walk with interesting historical buildings. The staff was fantastic and was so generous to let us stay the first night without paying, as our credit cards somehow didn't work with their system. Next day one of the employees found a solution for our problem. Fantastic! We felt very much at home there. Would come again!

The air condition was quiet loud. And the fact that the system wasn't able to cope with our New Zealand credit card for some reason. Still not sure whose fault that was. It would be nice if the restaurant offered breakfast too. We had dinner there which was lovely.

The room was clean with all the amenities you need after a busy day - a nice bed, tv, desk, fridge, hangers, a window overlooking the street. Despite this, room wasn't noisy and I was able to sleep well. The bathroom was clean and I had a lot space to put my toiletries and hang my clothes and towel to dry. Lots of sockets for charging. There was also natural light coming in which was useful for doing make up. Best of all, the hotel has a great location, close to MRT stations (Dhoby Gaut, Bencoolen) and bus stops. Fort canning park was just a block away perfect for a morning jog or stroll.

Hallway had musky odor, probably from the carpet. Upon arriving via car, you will most likely be brought to the level 3 car park space. The man guarding there made it seem I was in the wrong place at first so I was worried for a moment. For a 5 night stay, they will clean your room once. Bring your own slippers. You will be provided with 2 water bottles only, so bring your own reusable bottle and head to the water refill station at the patio level 4.

As solo traveler, I feel very safe and comfortable staying in this YMCA one Orcharf hotel. The location is superb, easy to access public transportation. Dhoby Ghaut MRT station is within 3 min walking distance. Surprisingly, the National Museum of Singapore is situated just next door, so comfortable for me who planned to visit museums and galeries in this trip. Perfect location!

-The lighting in the room is not bright enough, because I like bright room. And the switch for light is confusing. -AC sound is not quiet -No waste bin in the room, only in bathroom.

I loved the location! It was so easy to move around to convenient places like shops, restaurants and even grab a drink. Knowing how pricy Singapore can be, the price for the place was worth it! It was very clean and the staff was amazing and very kind and helpful. Special shout out to the funniest guy with beautiful blonde hair who helped me at reception everyday "I am so sorry, I forgot his name". I would happily visit this place again without a doubt!! Bonus, The café upstairs served really delicious sandwich/breakfast and I loved that the staff was diverse and YMCA hire PLWD!!!

I have stayed here many times, and will continue to stay here. YMCA offers clean, safe accommodation in a fantastic location and at a reasonable price, and there's even a pool. Doby Ghaut MRT, Fort Canning Park, the National Museum, and Orchard Rd are within easy walking distance. YMCA is the place to stay if you're simply looking for good budget acommodation options. There is a small cafe, but I prefer to eat elsewhere for more menu options. YMCA is also a social enterprise; it offers work for young people with special needs. By staying here, you are helping to make a difference!
