The appearance on the outside is beautiful and has a lovely wow factor, inside could do with a bit of doing up but it is a old building so it can't be perfect. I loved the spilt staircase and the graduar of it, the room was very spacious and bathroom was clean and modern . Customer service was excellent and bar staff were exceptional, one of the ladies serving behind the bar on the Friday night even had made up a little book of cocktails that could be made up of the spirits they had ,including a peanut butter flavoured whiskey. Her book was hand written which tells me firstly she enjoys her job and wants to do her best , and secondly she's gone above and beyond .would love to come back soon.

A few cobwebs on the ceiling and lampshade and if I'm being picky the toilet roll was of a cheap quality, would of exepted a bit better considering how grand the Hotel is. The first room we were allocated had a leak just outside the bathroom. We spoke with the receptionist and she moved us straight away and to a slightly better room without a quibble . There spa area had a few broken tiles and one of the therapy rooms wasn't working/ didn't do anything . There was no signage to say this ,so a lot of people using the facilities were walking in looking confused and walking out again. The steam and sauna were lovely and clean .

What isn't there to like about this place as soon as you approach the building it resembles a beautiful historical Castle! Beautiful interior with historical features! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a smile, made to feel right at home and so very welcome. Breakfast the next day was so delicious. And once again when you arrive you are greeted so warmly. Special thanks to Sophie on the desk who made us feel so welcome and gave us a quick brief of the history of this very beautiful building. Also, special thanks to Aziz, for welcoming us at breakfast. He made everything simple and easy and couldn't do more to make our meal and stay super comfortable. A+++++

The recetion staff were lovely. The size of my bedroom was massive, as was the bed and had a great wetroom. Had a great tv that unlike some places actually worked! So quiet at night with no light pollution. I watched the cows in the field beside my room in the morning and squirrels playing in the afternoon. The food was delicious with the waiting/dining room staff really friendly even at 6:30 am. Plenty of seating so didn't have to wait to be seated. The whole hotel was spotless.

The safety rail by the toilet was very close on one side.

Spent our wedding night here ( 2 nights )before jetting off to our honeymoon abroad. The room was beautifully decorated, so so romantic. Modern room which included a coffee machine ( a must have for us) walk-in shower , very clean ,these are the newly renovated rooms if I’m not wrong , very clean , modern and had the whole romantic vibes going . To our surprise, the room was all beautifully decorated which made it even more romantic, with a lovely welcome platter which included chocolate and fresh fruit .

There was nothing not to like.

Lovely big room for 4 adults. Quality bathing products. Older parts of the building are beautiful and charming. The restaurant and bar are well decorated. Breakfast food options and quality was really good. The swimming pool area is nice.

It’s quite tired and smells quite damp in some areas, especially when you first entered the bedroom until the windows were opened for a while. The restaurant food doesn’t live up to the decor or how it’s described on the menu. The breakfast hot drink station just doesn’t work. Tiny cups and the slowest machine for coffee/hot water. The changing rooms for the swimming pool aren’t exactly relaxing. Lots of doors/steps/ramps and tired decor.

Staff were so lovely, Management must be really proud of them. Really comfortable room (had a complimentary upgrade on arrival) a real surprise and much appreciated. Lovely breakfast too.

Had we known there was going to be 2 huge groups / events / parties on Sunday evening / night (2nd April), we would have cancelled that night's stay over. Rowdy youngsters up and down the corridor outside the rooms, banging doors going on til 4.30am! They clearly had had too much to drink, absolute nightmare for us to get to sleep. We unfortunately did not have a phone in our room (107). We had reported this as should have had a phone and reception said they would get maintenance to deal at some point. Had we had a phone we could have called reception in the middle of the night to stop these out of control youngsters, certainly was not going to challenge them face to face and open our door. Not ideal when we had a 200 mile journey home today having had very little sleep :-(

The staff were amazing, very friendly, and nothing too much trouble. Aziz who was on hand at breakfast was happy, cheerful and friendly, staff serving breakfast was also jolly and Chris in the bar was very friendly.. did not see a lot of the other staff, but all had a smile on their faces with friendly hello. Bar in the evening was chilly, and the staff can't help the weather but fan heaters were given to each table as well as radiators on. Very thoughtful The bed was so comfortable. Lots of puffy pillows

A bit pricy on the bar £9.50 250ml of wine, or £25. A bottle The pool water is chilly so couldn't stay in long, but the spa is lovely.

Great spacious hotel with excellent parking

The noise of the bottle bins below our room . Bottles from the conference area should not be put into bins at a evening time when guests are trying to sleep

Lovely hotel. Our room was very spacious clean and comfortable. The robes and slippers were a nice touch. We were able to use the pool and sauna which was great. Our bathroom was very modern, clean and had everything you need. The towels were fluffy and soft. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Staff were very friendly. My husband is gluten intolerant and they brought him toast with no fuss that they did in a different toaster so not to mix with regular bread.

There is some building work going on and scaffolding up around the hotel. We were not troubled by any noise as it was a Saturday night. The ladies changing room by the pool was being refurbished so I had to use a room nearby but they were clearly labelled and was no issue. I showered back in my room for privacy and convenience. But this is a temporary issue.

The staff were very lovely and responded quickly to things we enquired about. A lovely greeting by a young lady who is 6 months pregnant. She was so lovely and inviting. We love the decor and how close it is to our family in Accrington.

The beds to me are uncomfortable and feel very hard. Could do with a mattress topper for more comfort. We didn’t mention this but feel this would be good for future stays. We found the shower cubicle had a odour as well - smelt like rotten eggs. So unsure if the drains had been looked at and the extractor fan had dust bunnies too. The tops of radiators, TV, Bed and wardrobes had a thick layer of dust on. We didn’t know until we found a very large wasp/hornet flying around, and landed on these areas. We reported this at the end of our stay and they assured the head housekeeper will look into this with their team.
