I liked the corner bath, but although it was a jacuzzi it didn’t work. Lovely spacious suite to relax

No shampoo/shower gels etc in bathroom . When I highlighted to staff next day she advised that they only give it on arrival if asked for . I highlighted this could be a problem for them and customers shouldn’t need to ask . By the time we realise we could be undressed and ready to shower Tv didn’t work . Receptionist advised they were having trouble with tv , but IT would have been courteous to tell customer on arrival so we didn’t spend a lot of time trying to figure it out .

A beautiful setting and such attention paid to detail by the reception staff. The room and ensuite was spotless Breakfast was spot on sweet fruit juices hot tea. Omelette was really tasty and grounds of the building were just stunning. The decor of the old house the wood the stained glass windows created a lovely atmosphere. It was really lovely and the gentleman on the reception was so lovely polite professional glad I stayed here and felt like it's a little hidden gem. Definitley worth every single penny.

Bed mattress was bit uncomfortable and the room decor was a bit dated TV was good size aerial was a bit off at times.

A gem tucked away in the village if Darwin. From check in to check out nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we were met by thd owner who took an obvious pride in his hotel. Dinner was a lovely experience with a very attentive waitress. The room was bigger than I anticipated and had plenty of seating, quite a rarity these days. This treat was for my wife's birthday, so naturally I checked in on Facebook. At breakfast the following morning, we were again served by the manager who, after having seen the previous night's dinner check in, gave us both complimentary bubbles. A step above normal customer service. This hotel is highly recommended, and even if you don't intend to stay, the restaurant is absolutely fantastic.

Would really like to have extended our stay.

Fantastic place to stay clean and good food. Diner service has been delicious. As for the breakfast, it's spot on. My room was a good size comfortable bed. Good size TV and the wifi are excellent. Bathroom spotlessly clean with a decent shower. But to be fair, it's the staff. Natalie was polite and professional in front of the house. The manager owner. Blake it, believe. Friendly has an eye for detail with his guest. There's a gin tour I shall miss as checking out Thursday morning. I shall return to participate on my next trip to Bolton.

All was good.

An impressive Victorian building. Lots of trees around the large car park. Inside quite grand with a beautiful wide staircase. Our double room was beautiful, a four poster bed & enough room to ballroom dance, huge beautiful Bathroom had bath & large walk in shower. Everywhere was immaculate. Breakfast was exfellent & plenty of it. A grand lounge to sit & watch telly or chat & a very nice dining room, clean & modern. Staff were lovely, welcoming & pleasant. A lovely place to stay & highly reccomended by myself & my partner. Met the owner who was an extremely nice young man who runs a great place. Well done all round. Def stay again if we were in this beautiful area. Scenery was grand, green everywhere, valleys & hills. Lovely part of the world, lots of "beautifuls" but it really is.

nothing at all to not like.

This is the only review I have written on Booking.com but I felt I had to due to how amazing our stay was. I was travelling with a newborn and as soon as I told the venue, they changed my room to a ground floor room that also had enough room for a Moses basket to make our stay easier. Unfortunately when we stayed was in the middle of the heatwave, however the manager sourced a large standing fan for our room to keep the room cool for the baby. The room was lovely, and very large. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to change the date of our stay after the cancellation period. However the hotel did this no bother and also changed the date of the event we were having the next day for us with less than three days’ notice! The breakfast was lovely and the staff could not do enough for you! The venue is also beautiful, and the decor of all the reception rooms is incredible and to an exceptionally high standard. Thank you so much for making our stay this memorable. You really did go above and beyond for my family, and it was very appreciated by us all.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had my brother and his wife join us for dinner which was excellent and reasonably price. Good choice at breakfast.lovely setting. The price we paid was very good includingbreakfast

The bedroom decor was a bit dated could have done with a couple more teabags. The bathroom was in need of updating and the bath as an older person was difficult to get inand out of with no safety rails or handles , As an excecutive room would have liked a walk inshower but as we were only there for 1 night we didnt let it spoil our stay

Friendly, efficient welcome. Good value, enjoyable stay - a great building and I got a comfy bed and a decent shower.

I'd advice anyone booking to check their doors locked at 2300 policy. Other than that, it is generally getting slightly dated in look and practicality (e.g. location of sockets), but I'd rather that and paying less personally, so really not an issue for me.

a lovely looking building with fantastic host and some of the best food I’ve had at a place in this price bracket. room was clean with comfortable large bed. not a lot of frills in room but more than acceptable at the price I paid. Neil the host was loquacious and informative and made me feel welcome from the moment I checked in. special mention to the fantastic curry I had for dinner and the superb breakfast next morning. fantastic ingredients cooked to perfection. I’ve left but my taste buds remain. yum yum

It would be easier to answer the question what didnt you like because we loved this hotel and their hard working wonderful staff. The hotel overall was comfortable and inviting and the staff added the cherry on the top as did the excellent food. It was very good value overall. I have already recommended this hotel to local people to visit the restaurant and wouldnt hesitate to recommend family and friends to visit. The distillery was not open but it was interesting to read the history around this hotel and local area of Darwen, a place I had never heard of before and learn about the distillery experience that was unfortunately close on the day of our visit. The area itself and local town albeit small was full of history and it was a shame our visit was cut short due to heavy rain but it was worth getting wet for.

Wifi wasnt brilliant and a bit slow but for a night it wasnt a real issue. It was just a bit tiresome waiting for things to download.
