I was on a LEJOG bike trip and this was a great stop. The owners could not have been more helpful. We turned up on our bikes after over 50 miles in the rain but absolutely no problem getting into the house and room to get changed and get our wet gear dried out. Our bikes were stored safely in the garage and we got eBikes charged up over night no problem. Room was great and breakfast was great!

Everything about our stay was excellent. The accommodation is set in a peaceful location and our room more than met our expectations. Everywhere throughout was spotless and we were well looked after by our hosts. We were provided with an excellent choice of breakfast items and can thoroughly recommend the full English, as would our dog who is now a sausage connoisseur, kindly provided for him. As many other reviews have said in praise of our hosts, we could not have asked for anyone better to have provided us with a lovely place to stay and it felt as though we had been staying with friends rather than strangers.

Leaving, as we had a lovely weekend.

Nicky came outside to greet us and showed us round. Our room was absolutely spotless, with a really good shower with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There was complementary tea and coffee with fresh milk and biscuits. Also there was 6 bottles of water, which was a lovely touch. The beds were super comfortable - I can honestly say it was the best night sleep I've had for years! Good variety of food available for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I'm going to be in the area. Many thanks. X

The only down side is the location, as it is very rural. But that said, when we realised there was not much in the way of pubs/eateries in the close vicinity, we drove to the nearest town and stocked up with a few sandwiches and cans, so it really wasn't a problem!

Everything. The owners were really welcoming and interested in their residents, many of whom had stayed there before. The room was comfy and every welcoming feature had been thought of. I was exhausted and went to bed at 8.30pm fully expecting to be awoken by some noise or other but not so as everyone was considerate and the old house quiet despite being full. The breakfast was whatever you wanted in that the variety consisted of fruit, yogurt, cereal, muesli and porridge to a LARGE yummy full English breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed my ‘value for money’ stay there and would be very glad to return.

Too impressed to think of anything much I’d have preferred different. My room was fairly small but perfectly adequate. It backed on to the lane but cars passed so infrequently that I hardly noticed. It was such good value and pleasant an experience that my criticism is practically non existent. Well done to the owners !

Located in a tiny village, so no noise from traffic or such. Stayed one night in the groundfloor room. Room has a separate sitting area and an outside deck. Large bathroom with shower. Room clean, bed comfortable. Wonderful breakfast with quality ingredients.

There isn't a pub/restaurant/shop in the village. The owner informed us beforehand and gave suggestions where to eat. But still, you need to drive about ten minutes to the nearest restaurant.

From the genuine welcome on arrival to the genuine appreciation of our visit on departure we were unable to fault the accommodation, cleanliness or breakfasts provided by these two professional providers of a British B&B which others would do well to copy. Value for money is something which I think others search for and here you receive it in abundance. Thank you Robert and Nicki.

Towels need replacing - they did not do the job of drying after showers. Think the house may be a little too cold in the winter months.!!

The owners are extremely friendly and they make you feel at home, literally. It really feels like being very welcome guests of theirs. They are always available for any need and very generous with guests. Not to mention their patience and kindness with our late arrival and inaccurate booking. Breakfast service in particular was caring and attentive, and the place reflects their attitude in every way. The location is quiet and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Strongly recommended.

I wanted to say a massive thanks to our very kind hosts in Stoke House. We loved everything during our stay and we wish we could have stayed long. The house was extremely clean and the shower and toilet were new. WiFI was really good and the bed was so comfortable that we slept like a log. The breakfast was amazing and filled me up for the day, truly delicious!

The only challenge was the location as be careful with potholes along the way so I advise that you travel when it is still not dark.

Robert and Nikki are amazing hosts. They made our stay so easy and enjoyable from booking to leaving. Great communication, clear directions and a lovely warm welcome (even though we were very late). Nothing was too much trouble. Peaceful location and fantastic value for money. The ground level room was great for us, ( 3 adults and dog) especially as the large sofa bed was in a different room to the double so gave good privacy. Very clean and comfortable ensuite room with a wonderfully stocked tea tray, TV and direct access to the garden area. Everything you would need. Not forgetting the delicious breakfast cooked to order, perfect eggs and lashing of tea and toast and even a sausage for the dog. Wish we were staying longer and not just passing through. Hoping to return when we have more time. Thank you

I'd booked a few rooms at Stoke House for my bridesmaids as I was getting married in Stoke Rivers over the weekend, and their stay and my own experience was absolutely faultless. The bridesmaids told me how comfortable the rooms were, they looked spotless, and I was lucky enough to experience firsthand the generosity of Nicki and Robert. They were kind enough to let me join my bridesmaids for breakfast on the morning of the wedding, and I couldn't believe how thoughtful they were. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a 'Congratulations' banner and bridal confetti all over the breakfast table to start our celebrations properly! I had a little cry, and all of us were so unbelievably touched by this thoughtful gesture. The breakfast itself was fab, but Nicki and Robert's services was second-to-none. You can tell just how passionate they are about providing a joyful, comfortable, and personalised stay for their guests, and I can truly say I've never experienced service like it. It started my wedding day in the best way possible, and I can't thank them enough for being the most wonderful hosts. If my Grandma didn't live just round the corner I'd absolutely stay myself! But in the meantime I will wholeheartedly recommend Stoke House to any of my friends and family that fancy a Devon getaway! Thank you again Nicki and Robert, hope to see you around the village again soon :)
