Extremely welcoming and attentive host, lovely family run place with as much or as little engagement as you wanted. Amazing breakfast and lovely dining area that demonstrated a really nice aesthetic. The huge room had a really homely feeling and freshness, one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, as well as a genuinely relaxing environment all round. Tea, coffee, water and snacks all welcomed and the facilities (shower,wc etc) were of an extremely high quality

I wish I had another night's stay. Nothing to criticise about this whatsoever.

Simply put - beautiful. The room was absolutely lovely. Everything you could need, stunning bathroom, loved the toiletries and snacks, even the WiFi is brilliant. The breakfast was, hands down, the BEST breakfast we have EVER had, anywhere!!!! Just absolutely gorgeous. Clare was the most amazing host. Really friendly, great to chat to about the grounds, animals and local area, and couldn't have been more welcoming. Gavin is clearly an incredible cook as the breakfast could not have been more perfect if he tried. The house is set in beautiful grounds, with geese, hens, horses, and just stunning greenery everywhere you look. Would not even hesitate at coming again or recommending to anyone else. It's perfect. 10/10, thank you so much.

Having to go home!! We would have stayed for ages if we could lol

The full English breakfast was delicious. Fresh local ingredients are used. The bed was very comfortable and I had the room with a lovely deep bath and view over the fields. There was a great selection of cruelty free products in the bathroom and of teas etc in the room, a fridge with mineral water on the landing and a great variety of books left by previous guests. The host, Clare, was very welcoming on both occasions I’ve stayed here and clearly puts her heart and soul into making it a lovely relaxing break for her guests. It’s a great location - short drive to lots of picturesque places like Alfriston and Cuckmere Haven.

The house is very quiet, down a private lane easily accessed from the main road. It is secluded and the views of rural Sussex from the windows across fields and trees are a pleasure. The care and thought gone into ensuring that all needs are catered for is amazing. The breakfast was first class and included eggs from own chickens, sausages from local butchery, and a selection of cereals, juices, toasts etc beyond the norm. The room was well provided with teas, coffees etc and fresh milk in a fridge on the landing.

There was nothing not to like. This bed and breakfast place really did live up to all the enthusiasms expressed in previous reviews.

This was a lovely place to stay - exceptionally clean, comfortable and modern. The host could not do enough for me, particularly when trying to find the property. There were nice touches such as fair-trade organic shampoos, soap and conditioner, a shared fridge for keeping a few bits in overnight etc. Recommendations for evening food options of local eateries were provided and take aways allowed to be eaten in the breakfast room. I like the fact that it’s a small operation as it feels very safe for a single female traveler on business. The bed was so comfortable, the breakfast excellent and included their own eggs, and really decent quality sausages and bacon. The breakfast menu also catered for vegan with a nice choice to suit most tastes / needs, Inc gluten free. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend to all.

Nothing- it was all great.

The property is in an ideal location for staying in the area near gun hill for weddings. Close enough to get a bus or a taxi to the station as well as to the venue. Clare was an exceptional host and the room was spotless. Excellent breakfast from her and Gavin and I felt very attended to.

Nothing. The property was easy to find and it was set back from the road so it was very quiet when I went to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was new and very clean.

West Lodge was a lovely B&B set in a delightful, very quiet spot and Clare was a very welcoming & friendly hostess who ensured that our stay was most comfortable and restful. Nothing was too much trouble for Clare who was prepared to serve our particular choices for breakfast and was able to direct us to a village where we were meeting friends. This was certainly one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at.

There was nothing we didn't like!

Clare was very friendly and hospitable. The scenery from the window was beautiful. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Lovely choices for breakfast and provisions to make hot drinks with fresh milk for bedroom.

The only slight issue wasn't really a problem - the choice of breakfast which we wrote in the book didn't come quite as we ordered.

Breakfast was delicious. Room was clean and well appointed, lots of tea/coffee/biscuits and quality toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely property with lots of open space in the grounds. Was struggling to get a taxi in the morning and Clare offered to take me the couple of miles to my meeting. Thank you so much!

Set in a lovely house in the middle of a beautiful country location with chickens and horses. Everything looks brand new and it spotlessly clean. Bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Breakfast cooked to order and was lovely. I loved how they had a wide selection of toiletries, different bath gels, big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, proper brands. Very different to what you'd get in a hotel. The bathroom was beautiful, I wallowed for ages in a lovely bath with bath salts. Absolutely nothing not to love here.
