We stayed in a nice big family room, with sea view it was very nice and clean and had nice size bathroom. It was also pet friendly :) The breakfast was very nice and staff were helpful too. The staff even prepared our breakfast early as we had to leave to get an early ferry which lovely of them We used the indoor pool and sauna at the hotel The location is perfect close to beach and town There are various activities at the hotel in the evenings

We could not get WiFi in our room at all The food to order in the hotel restaurant for evenings could be better for the price. There was not much choice of evening food available in the local area partly because of the time of year we came (February)alot of the restuarants and takeaways were shut in Shanklin and surrounding towns and hardly anything open on a Tuesday which was strange !

This was my second stay at the Channel View Hotel. After a brief overnight stay in 2023, I knew what to expect and opted for a longer stay this time. As before, I received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a comfortable room that was spotlessly clean and kept nice and warm, considering the weather. The breakfast in the morning was very good and the staff couldn't have been nicer, always willing to offer help when needed. Location wise, this ranks among the best in Shanklin, as it overlooks the esplanade and the front-facing rooms have an incredible panoramic view across Sandown Bay, which is arguably one of the best views on the Island. You are a short walk from the beach, the Old Village and the town, so everything is within easy reach.

The only thing that would have improved the stay was the weather being better, but that is clearly outside the control of the hotel!

Really poor customer service, specially guy with suit not interested about customer service at all. We went there 2-3hours early ,when we tried to speak to him he was really rude and not interested at all. Everything we had a eye contact he was looking at us like we did something wrong.also they have guest by the counter they should come to the counter and speak to customer. There was a lady inside the office most probably the general Manager she was ok but again poor customer service.there was a guest who was standing by the counter to be served but the lady for the desk was saying she is middle of writing something she can’t serve now but for me customer or guest should get priority over anything. We did not feel welcome at all unfortunately but yes hotel was nice and clean.

Loved this hotel, came here with family when I was younger and this is not my first trip back since. It's wonderful. Very charming. Really love the refurbishments they are doing, so lovely to see the owners taking care of a popular hotel and this goes for the whole of Shanklin, it's looking really fresh and everyone is so friendly. It is a doggy friendly hotel but the sea view rooms, do not accept doggos. We found out post booking which was a pain. Whilst it says it on booking.com it's not in all rooms.

These really are tiny things, but would have been nice to have. The pool was a little chilly, and the sauna could do with a sign as we did ask for it to be put on an hour before using but it was clearly forgotten sadly :( You wouldn't know it was there unless you open the door which looked like a cleaning cupboard. The Wifi was in transition which meant I wasn't able to work from here, but can totally understand this is a one off and that horrible period between providers which we've all experienced. :-) As I say super small things but would have been nice to have.

Fab location

Initially room was not up to spec, but we were moved 2nd day. On searching for plug socket next to bed i pulled out side chest of drawers, lots of debris. Understand that there is limited time through changeovers but the debris had clearly been there sometime. My father had a fall in the overspill car park due to the uneven ground, he had cuts to his chest, hands and knees, staff did provide plasters but really it should have been written in accident book, I think this was down to staff not being effectively trained. On a positive the staff are super friendly and the swimming pool is a fantastic edition to the hotel. Breakfast was equally plentiful and of excellent quality. Despite my comments we had a lovely time and I would recommend.

Sea view from room (requested) was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Car parking outside. Close to seafront which was lovely for sea bathing, fun stuff for kids and good restaurants. We also walked up to the old town for old restaurants with thatched roofs. The entertainment in the hotel one night was great fun with a singer called Simon Howard. You can walk the coast to Sandown and back along cliffs. Great walking routes all around the island.

We loved the hotel but it should be recognised that it is three star and that where your expectations should be. Shanklin is on a cliff and so there can be steep climbs and stairs including up to the hotel but there is an accessible path round from the right hand side as you look at it.

Very well placed hotel close to the beach, staff were very friendly & helpful & the food was good.

Decor was a bit tatty, however work was in progress to rectify this & we were given room 29 which was right above the entertainment stage so on the first night the room reverberated with the bass volume, however on mentioning this to staff they offered to move us to another room we however declined as we had already unpacked & they assured us it wouldn't go on past midnight.

Me and the girls booked the hotel for the iow festival, what a little gem of a hotel! We had the absolute best time! Beautiful location the beach was on our doorstep. The staff could not do enough for us, so friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Bob who always stopped to chat to us, the breakfast staff were lovely and very attentive, and the housekeeping were super, topped us up with biscuits and made our beds ready to dive in to after the festival. We'll be returning to the island again next year but sadly you have no availability:( Thank you for such a wonderful stay! 5 star review from us - the awesome foursome from Shropshire

That we had to leave!

The breakfast severing and cleaning staff were great. Rooms were served everyday.

Front of house seemed a bit under pressure with lack of staff. Like most old buildings this one could do with a bit of a refurbishment..ceilings at front of house and the entertainment room needs attention. Hotel losing a lot a revenue due to lack staff. Water was extremely hot in room 47.Not a problem for us but any young or elderly would scold themselves quite badly. Also had a bath not show due to very low pressure when shower turned on(also not a problem for us)

Fantastic position , lives up to its name. Easy walking distance to great beach and promenade. Smiling, efficient, professional staff, sparkling clean room and bedding, comfy beds. Lovely sun lit dining room, excellent and fast service, always with a smile, even when fullish with coach parties. Off road free parking, electric charge point.

Having to order dinner at breakfast time. Guess it's an efficiency measure to enable swift service in the restaurant but meant you had to commit or forgo when plans might be somewhat flexible. No real problem, a great range of nearby places to eat. Special thanks to James on reception for managing to fit me in for a meal despite my late arrival in the evening.
