Room, bell hop helpful in calling taxi and understanding about zero cash for tip, swimming pool and sauna, location for Moscone center, Union Square, cable cars, BART, restaurants in the area, good advice for an alternative when the hotel restaurant was closed.

Fire false alarm on first night took too long to rectify (jet lag shortened patience!), had to stay in lobby as elevators were disenabled Evening restaurant service restricted to bar are service, no sushi!

Lovely sized room with everything we needed. Bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in and I am really fussy about beds and pillows. Quiet room with effective and easy to use air con. Fridge space for our own wine along with the mini bar, robes, slippers etc. Location great for centre of town and if you wanted to go to Fisherman’s Wharf then we recommend the cable car which you catch in Powell Street and which takes you to the port, you can also hop on and off it. We jumped off at Lombard St to see the bendy road and walked the rest of the way to the wharf. For breakfast we headed to Pinecrest diner just 2 mins walk from the hotel entrance. So good there was often a short queue, often the local police had their breakfast there so you know it’s going to be good. We also tried Cafe Mason which had great eggs Benedict but my hubby had really poor poached eggs and it was all a bit luke warm so definitely worth a small wait time to use Pinecrest instead. If you are eating in the local area just be mindful that some of Ellis Street near Tenderloin is best avoided tea time onwards, there are lots of homeless in this area accessing the soup kitchen so is an area where larger groups are found. Like most cities there are people asking for money but in our experience they were polite and jokey and only asked once and didn’t present any problems to us.

Only thing was the size of the damage protection fee held by the hotel, for 4 days £800 was held until we checked out I think for multiple days the amount per night should be reduced. This will of course be refunded but meant the initial amount taken on my credit card was almost double what the room was expected to cost.

Top Hotel rated 1a. We spent our summer vaction in San Francisco. The location of the hotel is perfect in order to reach many SFO atractions in walking distance. Also public transportation is short distance from the hotel is rated positive. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. In all aspects great service

The room that we booked was a bit smal. But this was our decission. The size of the room was published before. From a european/german perspective the price per night is at the high end of the scale. Never or less we would book the hotel again if possible. BR Claudia and Dirk Germany

The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Also very convenient for my purposes. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just after I checked out I realized I had forgotten to pack two pairs of glasses. I called the hotel from the airport and the staff person called back to report they found the glasses. The hotel then sent them to me home and they arrived a few days later.

The $39/daily "resort fee" seems unfair for people who don't use the gym or pool. The television channels seemed to be streamed; on the first night I was able to receive CNN but the next two nights it was not available. The entrance to the hotel is uninviting, even a bit gloomy. This is a design/architectural problem (the white marble walls and floors look very dated) and I'm not sure it can be easily improved.

We had a super nice corner room with great views over the city. The rooms are modern, well equipped and with a very comfy bed. The Bathroom is large and modern. We enjoyed a great dinner in the restaurant of the hotel, called ANZU. We recommend to try. The personnel was very helpfull and accommodating. The pool and spa area looks great and at no extra costs, but unfortunately we did not find the time to make use of it. The location is great, because it is only a few steps away from Union square, the turnaround of the Powell & Market cable car and one of the stops of the hop-on/ hop-off is right in front of the hotel.

The lobby is cooled down to freezing levels; unpleasant in our book. The down side of the great location is the number of homeless and addicted people in the streets around the hotel, but that seems to be an increasing problem of San Francisco.

The room was decently sized, and the beds were comfortable. The shower is very small, which is my only complaint regarding amenities in the room. But, there is a separate tub with a detachable head, so that's cool.

Make sure you don't touch the stuff in the mini fridge. My friend's daughter literally picked up the gummy bears and placed them back and at the end when we checked out, we were charged for having them. Also, there were surprise charges at the end of our stay. I'm not sure exactly what they were for, since you have to check out either on your tv or by text message. I did not like that. Not everything is "enhanced" by technology.

Absolutely stunning hotel just a short walk to the cable car end stop where they turnaround to go back towards Ghirardelli Square. The rooms and facilities were exceptional. Lots of restaurants around the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The valet parking charge is very expensive. We ended up returning our rental after our drive to Muir Woods the first morning, as it's very easy to get around SF on public transport. If you do have to park, there is a garage just near the hotel which charges $43 a day ($32 cheaper than the hotel) with in/out privileges.

The room was great, spacious, high up so had a view, well lit and with a huge bathroom! The bed was huge and really comfy! The breakfast was very nice although a bit expensive.

The location is not great, especially during the night time. It is very easy to make a wrong turn and end up in Tenderloin. Nevertheless, there was always personnel at the entrance of the hotel. Other than that, the only thing that was a bit strange was the amenity fee charged on a daily basis ($39/day) which we couldn't figure out why was there.

Checkin was friendly and efficient. The room, though not large, was clean, large bed, and nice furniture. Very good view of bay and San Francisco, just don’t look down. The gym was excellent, large, well equipped with both machines, smith machine, cables and lots of free weights. The pool area is nice, perhaps too shallow for a decent swim but a good space. Unfortunately even though they have designated adult only hours PEOPLE do not read. Better signage could help this. Breakfast buffet is fantastic, huge variety, quality and the waffles are fresh as if just cooked.

Nothing in particular.

The reception staff were lovely. And the swimming pool was such a wonderful treat. The view from our room of the night fog was spectacular only to be bettered by the sunrise. The bathroom throne was a new experience :0) So many places are within walking distance, and we went on an hop-on/off open top bus tour from very nearby - which was sensational. The Faugust fog lifted and we saw the Golden Gate Bridge from a distance and as we crossed it. A great way to see Frisco in a limited time.

No tea bags, but that’s more my British issue than yours 😉
