Golden Well

If you want to be pampered, this is the place to be. The location was amazing, located directly below the Prague Castle and next to the Palace Gardens. The hotel also has a rich history as the home of the astronomer Tycho de Brahe, gifted by Roman Emperor King Rudolf II. We enjoyed an incredible evening meal on the Terrace with expansive city views. Our flight was early, so the hotel prepared a breakfast to go as well. One evening we retired early and enjoyed a bottle of the nice selection of wines available in our room.

We were walking on this trip and did not realize in advance that the climb to the hotel and the castle would be so steep. I would still stay again, and would take the bus to the top of the castle instead of walking up, although that achievement is also part of our fun memory of visiting Prague.

A beautiful boutique hotel! Great location and yet very quiet. About 8 minutes walk to the Karl bridge. Stunning view of the city from the terrace, where the excellent breakfast is served. The room is well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. Very nice bath. The hotel is well kept and very clean. I would take into consideration that the hotel is a bit hidden from the main road (which is an advantage!) so get exact address and details on how to get there. Also, you have to walk a bit to the hotel entrance so be sure you can manage with the luggage, otherwise ask for help from the driver or the persons at the reception.

The Golden Well is situated just below Prague castle offering amazing views of the old city. The included breakfast was exceptional and served at the terrace restaurant with spectacular views.

The entrance to the hotel is at the end of a narrow cobblestone alley that is too narrow for a vehicle, so you have to carry your bags about 75 meters up a relatively steep walk. It’s really not accessible for anyone who might have trouble walking up hill on cobble stones.

Stunning hotel with so much charm. Staff were so helpful and the nightly turndown service was such a delightful luxury. The views are incredible and to have access to a Michelin starred restaurant just upstairs is incredible! The location is also great, easy access to many must see places.

My room included a set of stairs which had charm but would be difficult to navigate with much more than a carry-on sized bag. Accessing the hotel can be a bit confusing at first because it is essentially up an alleyway that cab drivers won't drive up.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had many requests. The included breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant was a highlight, as well as the daily fruit and nightly dessert delivered to our room. If you are looking for a non-corporate feeling hotel with excellent service, you will enjoy the Golden Well.

It is up a steep cobblestoned street (not too steep), and the cobblestones get slippery in the rain.

The breakfast is superb. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is excellent. the little touches like fruit and cakes in the room are done very well and the snacks available at 4pm are also a bonus. The staff are charming and helpful

Just a couple of things.... There is no real bar area in the winter as a terrace is not available. There is nowhere to sit comfortably before dinner or going out for the night, or when you return. The restaurant is lovely but not something you would want to do every night of your stay. Somewhere less formal and more relaxed to eat would be a bonus, as we needed taxis to eat elsewhere (the streets and pavements were very icy and dangerous for walking) and this meant booking ahead. Whilst the afternoon snacks available are lovely, we found that other guests blitzed them and occupied the only seats available, so it was necessary to go back to our room.

From the point of arrival, through the whole of our stay, the Golden Well experience was exceptional! A delightfully individual hotel with small thoughtful touches in each of the rooms and all furnished with taste and elegance and with your comfort in mind. The food was divine and the staff from every department were friendly and gave us five star service at all times, often going above and beyond our expectations to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We would love to stay again!

I genuinely can't think of a thing to improve! A fantastic hotel.

quaint, quirky with fantastic staff and everything you didn’t know you wanted! big comfy bed, a pillow menu to ensure your best sleep, and an end-alley way location overlooking the palace gardens means it’s so quiet! so very Special!

people with mobility issues should be aware of the location up a hill, at the end of an alley way.

Fabulous location just below the Prague castle. Very well appointed boutique hotel with wonderful historical character. Five star plus in terms of facilities and service and nice change from the big central hotels. Complimentary drinks and food in the small guest lounge each late afternoon was nice to come back to after long days walking and exploring the city. Easy to walk to the Charles bridge and old/new town areas/squares. Beautiful Waldstein gardens (Senate buildings) are afew minutes walk from hotel and free to enjoy. Hotel restaurant is first class with stunning views over Prague and breakfast ( included in room rate) is superb with same views.

A beautiful building and area. Great breakfast, with a superb view of the city. Turndown service and a nighttime sweet delight put on a side table every night. Molton Brown amenities. Drink&snack time during the day.

My room, a deluxe double, was an attic with stairs inside at the entrance. It was not a big problem, but after walking around the city all day, it was a bit sad having to climb up the stairs after opening the door to relax in the room.
