White Lion Royal Hotel

Room: No chair in room, so not very good for reading. Breakfast: Unusual in that only cooked breakfast is provided, with no option of cereals or toast. However, I had the best bacon sandwich I've had in a long time! Also, breakfast starts at 7.00 am, which was what I needed for an early start. I was also allowed to keep my bike safely inside the building.

Dinner: I arrived at about 6.30 pm after a long day of cycling. Needed to shower and change. I knew from past experience that the hotel serves good food; the receptionist said food was served until 8.30, so I didn't need to rush. However, when I went down to the bar, it turned out the kitchen had closed early! This was a disappointment. However, there are several places to eat within five minutes' walk.

Cosy relaxing room, very comfy bed and pillows etc, lots of channels on the tv, bathroom was lovely and modern and shower was massive and easy to use, facilities were very good and I enjoyed the hot chocolate. Staff very friendly and went out of my way to make sure I was comfortable as unfortunately I had a badly sprained ankle during my visit, forgot the gentleman’s name who was very kind and helpful he had a beard and was very friendly, and the lady with glasses during breakfast was very helpful and kind too. The price was very reasonable especially with including the breakfast the next morning! Very tasty and good sized amounts with continental breakfast included too.

when we arrived we were greeted by the lady on reception who gave us a very friendly and warm welcome. after checking in, she recommended a couple of good places to eat, she was right about the one we went to, the food was superb. the breakfast was very good and there was of plenty of choice. the room we had was very comfy and had plenty of room. all in all,we had a very good stay at the white lion and would stay here agin.

there were a few patches on a couple of ceilings where there had been a leak at some point, they could do with a lick of paint to tidy the place up.

Hotel under new ownership and room had been refurbed.recently. Everything was clean as one would expect and the bed was comfortable. Good Traditional cooked breakfast but no juices or cereals offered. An excellent carvery meal was provided for our private group on the evening we stayed.

Only one bar serving a large hotel with many folk in it!

We had a nice big room on the second floor and enjoyed having the space to move! Very pleased also to have a really nice big bed. Mattress a bit harder than we are used to, but this is only nit-picking. We had room service after the first night, which we weren't expecting so we were pleased. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with the lady who did the waitressing at breakfast.

Just have to bear in mind the bedrooms at the front of the hotel are a bit noisier in summer when you have to open the window to stay cool, and the traffic does get quite busy from early in the morning.

Nice and cozy small hotel in a very good location. Decent room size with 3 beds and a very good bathroom. They have parking as well which is an added advantage. All and all a good experience and highly recommended

Our room was on the third floor and we had some luggage so taking it upstairs wasn't too convenient although one of the staff helped us with taking the luggage upstairs which was very helpful

Rooms were very big - had coffee machine, wardrobe big bathroom etc. The bed was also really comfortable and we managed to get a great nights sleep. The location was perfect, close to Bala lake and restaurants/pubs. Hotel also had parking which was a plus. Staff have been great at resolving any issues. Breakfast was also really good - we had options to chose from a menu rather than a buffet-style.

We didn't have cooked breakfast but cereal. The options were very limited and it would have been nice to have had the option of a continental breakfast.

The toilet seat was almost falling off - literally just connected with it moving all over the place. Also the toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. A real shame because the rest of the facilities and room/shower etc were very good. Attention to detail.

Good location, great service, friendly staff especially the lady at breakfast, comfortable clean room and great food. We had dinner and breakfast. Great hotel for the price. Will definitely stay again if we're in the area.

We were in room 103, a twin room. The room was a bit cold, the heating was barely on. The bathroom was the only disappointment, the grouting over the bath was black, just needs a good bleach, the shower curtain had a foot of pink at the bottom, just needs a good wash, the bath was a bit marked, good job we were only staying over night because there was no way I was getting in that bath/shower. The rest of the bathroom was fine.

We had an absolute amazing stay here, Smooth check in, friendly staff, bedroom & en suite very clean, large beds and comfortable! Location is spectacular right in the middle of town. Food at the hotel is lovely as the indian restaurant a few doors down, tandoori mixed grill was fantastic! We hired bikes from a bike shop at the end of town and had a bike ride around the very very big lake with spectacular views. Thank you for a lovely stay when we are back in the area we will definitely be staying again. Thank you!
