Great breakfast, cooked to order and on table within 10 mins. Staff friendly and helpful local advice. Station and bus stops about 40 metres away. Arriva bus to Alnwick (castle +, gardens ++++); and Bamburgh, Seahouses (boats for Farne and Holy Islands - plan for timings); also multitude of Travelsure & Border buses (again check service regularity. Walk to harbour about 10 - 15 minutes. Town guided walk very worthwhile from tourist info / library.

For the money and hotel grade, nothing. We heard a couple of freight trains in the night, but it was hot June and our window was open, so, fine, and we were just as likely to sleep through them after the first (strange room) night.

The staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great, and every morning I was asked if I needed anything extra in my room. There's a lovely roaring fire in the breakfast room and in the bar. The room was super clean, and had a kettle and lots of tea, coffee, milk cartons. The en suite was lovely with a powerful shower and hot water The location couldn't be better for access to the train station, and nothing in town was further than a ten minute walk away

The WiFi signal could have been stronger, but I had such a lovely stay, that's a very minor thing that didn't detract

The hotel is modern and clean. I stayed with my large lurcher and he was made to feel very welcome and even got a sausage at breakfast. There was no issue arranging breakfast in the bar area where dogs are allowed or it could have been delivered to the room. It’s one of the most dog friendly places we have stayed. The breakfast was good quality and filling and there was a good range to choose from.

The only downside is the noise from the bar at night but it’s to be expected at a hotel like this.

friendly and very welcoming staff , room was spacious and extremely clean , the view from the window was of the railway station and greenery but not in the least noisy . location was as described and if fit walkable to all Amenities . the breakfast was impeccable with staff to match . would not hesitate to return if in the area .

parking is dependent on went you turn up . we were lucky and got a place right outside . but due to the local highways and no fault of the hotel its a first come first served scenario . We were unlucky as chef was unavailable our stop over night [ perhaps he was at karate like the Fawlty towers episode ] and we had to find somewhere to eat locally ! good luck with that ! maybe the restaurants are fine but the takeaways have developed a keep you waiting as long as possible policy , especially the self proclaimed best kebab and pizza takeaway in the world shop, just down the road [on the same side as the hotel] . Avoid at all cost , bad service bad food .

Great location, literally 2 minutes from the station and at the top of the main street through Berwick, the room was clean and warm, the open fire in the bar was lovely for sitting next to with a pint or two after a day's walking. The breakfast consisted of a large full English with toast X 4, a selection of top quality jams, Marmite, a selection of breakfast cereals, yoghurt, fruit and fruit juices, tea and fresh coffee, filled me up for the day. All served sat next to another open fire in the dining room. There wasn't anything I disliked about my stay, nice friendly helpful staff, highly recommended.

every need catered for. certainly one of the better dog friendly hotels. excellent value for money. staff very approachable and accommodating . Rooms a good size and clean, comfy beds ensuring a good nights sleep - cannot fault it. the breakfast was good with a varied selection - evening meals also good.

limited parking, we were lucky and were able to park outside off the road. the road is quite busy but did not pose much of a problem. with it being a public bat, can be noisy at night(this however did not impact on our stay)

I like hotel and its atmosphere it is renovated but has old history and you can feel it. It is near railway station with good connection to Edinburg. Rich english breakfast and friendly staff was nice part of stay.we stay in flat upstairs. It was equiped with bathroom and 2 bedrooms.

The smaller bedroom had not really comfortable bed (sofa).maybe gor kids it would be ok. The flat is under roof, smaller bedroom has got only with roof window.

Good location easy walk to the Main Street, great value for money, rooms very spacious, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, very clean everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff were all friendly and welcoming would definitely stay again

We visited on motorbikes and had to park on the street which was ok as there was space however if there hadn’t been a space we would have had to park away from the hotel. Not a great problem but one to be aware of

Staff very friendly and couldn't fault the room which was impeccable. Had a fall out with my boyfriend unfortunately so left without having breakfast.

Only thing that was slightly annoying was that I had booked the stay on a "pay when you arrive" basis but staff charged my card on the morning of the stay, several hours before I was due to check in. This put me in a financial predicament as I had intended to use my credit card to pay when I got there and had very little money in the account that was charged. I think hotels need to stick to conditions that customers book under!

The hotel was situated very handy for public transport and access to the public gardens and and an easy stroll to Berwick and the history of the hotel is given with breakfast which turns out to have Lowery the famous painter staying there. breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice.

The stairs could provide a problem for the elderly with walking problems and the bathroom was small and challenging and the room required finishing in decor.
