The Hotel was excellent. Our room was spacious and very well appointed. The lounge accommodation was very comfortable and restful. The food was of a very high standard in range and quality. Both dinner and breakfast were first rate. The reputation of Hotels is determined largely by the staff. In the Collingwood Arms, the staff were friendly and attentive and made guests very welcome. For the standard achieved the Hotel provided very good value for money. Management and staff should be commended for their efforts and attention to the requirements of guests. Very well done !

the room was comfortable and spacious. it is in a great location, the hotel has a nice garden. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. we were made to feel very welcome, even our dog enjoyed his stay. if you are looking for a dog/pet friendly hotel this is the place to stay. The food is excellent and a very high standard, the menu is really interesting and the ingredients used for the dishes are very fresh. the breakfast is also a very high standard and really set you up for the day.

there was nothing we didn’t like, it was all good.

The hotel was very pleasingly decorated but I felt a little frayed around the edges. Loose curtain hooks, missing tiles on bathroom floor, shower not particularly easy to work - so I bathed. I understand from the internet that the hotel is actually on the market - hence little bits of work outstanding. But the garden was gorgeous . The young woman who served myself and my sister over from Oz at breakfast was absolutely delightful, efficient and working alone. Well done . Food excellent an£ presented with a smile . I would stay again.

Breakfast was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. The kipper and poached eggs were the best I’ve had. The location was great as we enjoyed the traditional rural feel of a small village with easy access to other places of interest. Bonus was visiting the Flodden Battle field which was situated just down the road. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were made to feel very welcome.

As soon as we entered the building, we knew it was going to be good….our room (suite) at the very top of the hotel was beautiful; old beams, a very stylish (and roomy ) bathroom, a dressing room/living area and a lovely big bed with stunning views acroos the countryside. What was not to love ?

It wasn’t necessarily a problem but there was no reception which I found a bit odd. And some more practical information in the manual in the room would have been useful (time of breakfast, check out, that sort of thing), but there was nothing. Again, a bit odd….

Good location - the village store next door was a delight. Bed was comfortable. Main proprietor was v friendly and accommodating. Evening meal was very good (veggie Thai curry) and decent value. Breakfast was tasty (once the order was sorted - see below)

Shower controls in bedroom bathroom were not great; one member of staff at breakfast was rather unfriendly and grumpy and totally got the breakfast order wrong!

Swiftsure room was spacious and even with the extra bed for our 5-year old daughter it had plenty of room. Own fireplace, nice style decor and beautiful views from the windows. Sash windows to keep in style with the rest of the building, but with soundproof inserts - hotel is on the main road, but we didn't hear the noise from the road. The breakfast was restaurant quality and everything was fresh and tasty, both food and drinks. All staff were very helpful and friendly, lovely people.

The chef cooked us special dinners each night and he did not disappoint. Luxury big room with roll top bath and plenty of space. Huge comfortable bed and lovely clean linens. Good breakfasts too. Can’t wait to return

Not the fault of hotel, just circumstances but we felt they were short staffed.

Lovely hotel and everyone really helpful and friendly. Steve was an excellent host; insisting on carrying our bags up to our room. Despite staff shortages there was always someone on hand to answer any queries. The room was very comfortable with a nice en-suite. Tea and coffee with complementary biscuits. On site parking and a nice garden. The location of the hotel was just right and it was easy to find, and access other areas. There’s some stunning scenery around and a pleasant walk into Coldstream, crossing the river Tweed. The food was very tasty, and the breakfast was substantial. You definitely felt everyone was doing what they could to make your stay enjoyable and really appreciated that Steve rang to let me know my mum had left some of her medication behind, offering to send it on if needed 👏

The mobile signal wasn’t good inside, probably due to the thick walls. WiFi was available but again not great.
