Great Location, Large clean room, first full breakfast was delicious, staff very accommodating and friendly, very quiet room. Lots of storage in room; clean throughout; kids loved the fish tank.

Bed uncomfortable; second full breakfast was much smaller with items halved and not cooked very well; no fan available; limited free parking during the day; Windows not safe for young children; bath needed re-sealed and was moldy round the edge; weight of water while bathing our kids created bath to drop; water pressure not good from shower and when coming back after a certain time the front two doors are locked. There is no light to see lock on the second (internal) door. Only a slight inconvenience with a child in one arm, key in the other, and my phone in my bag.

-room was very clean and the pictures do not do it justice.. it was lovely and cosy and better than expected -bed was very comfortable and big! -lots of storage in the room to hang clothes up -location was perfect, as we were heading to a wedding at Cornhill Castle -staff were nice and helpful letting us check in early

-room was very hot during the night.. even with the windows open -breakfast was average -water pressure in the shower was not too good, but did the job! :)

it’s more an Inn than a hotel as it’s a family run place so there’s no reception 24/7. they are so welcoming and happy to let us check in early to get ready for wedding at Cornhill Castle. staff were all so friendly and welcoming and even recommended where to park to avoid traffic wardens. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here if you are struggling for a place to stay near Cornhill. Breakfast was great service!

the rooms are dated but they are very clean. Has hand wash and shower gel but no hair products. They didn’t reply to my email or messaging on booking.com but I managed to get hold of them on the phone.

Hotel is obviously old but was clean and fresh, the room we had was lovely and clean and well equipped. We stayed the night before a wedding, there was a group of us nd we had booked dinner for 8 people, then other family arrived so we increased the table size, then another 4 arrived and the hotel kindly increased the table size again, considering they where fully booked and clearly busy they were very helpful and accommodating. Nice place, nice staff and nice little village, I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again,

We very much enjoyed our short stay at the Elphinstone Hotel. We received a very nice welcome from a friendly staff member and were shown to a large well-appointed room. We had previously booked a table for an evening meal which was served in the smaller front dining room, there is a varied menu offering a large selection of reasonably priced meals which are freshly prepared. There is a larger restaurant on the first floor of the hotel for larger dining parties and where overnight guests pre ordered breakfast is served by a friendly helpful waitress. All the food is freshly prepared and served at the table. To summarise we really enjoyed the Elphinstone and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

Although nothing to do with the hotel, parking may at times be a slight issue, the hotel is located on the main thoroughfare through Biggar and nearby parking can at times be challenging. The Wi-Fi also seems to be a bit hit or miss; the password supplied was not accepted on our machine, this didn't distract from our visit however if visiting during a business trip, communication can at times be a pre-requisite.

The bedroom was clean, tidy and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming of a tired, wet motorcyclist The food in the restaurant was of very high quality and excellently cooked. Highly recommended It even has a bath to soothe those aching muscles after a long ride

The only minor thing was the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guest, easy to overlook when turning the rooms round for the next guest. It wasn't an issue for me, but as it's the ONLY bad point about my stay there I have to mention it or booking.com gets angry 😂

The location was excellent, right in the middle of the town. The service was great, very friendly and helpful staff. Only had one meal there but can recommend the stuffed pork loin, it was superb.

Room 3 comes with a skylight as the only window, only a problem if you stay, like I did, on a hot day as there is no ventilation and the room gets rather warm. Adding a small A/C unit would make a massive difference.

the quality of the food both in the evening and in the morning made for a very pleasant stay, especially as the staff were so welcoming; The room was comfortable and the bathroom well provided for.

The hotel has very little parking close at hand and this is quickly taken up. This can mean that one has to cross a main road with luggage and then pass to the rear of the hotel more than once before settling in.

The staff made the stay, especially the lovely cleaning lady and the breakfast service. Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed. Cute pub downstairs too.

Unfortunately the built in wardrobe/cupboard sliding door was old and stiff and the cut out circle (as opposed to a 3D handle/door knob) ripped my finger nail off which was quite traumatic!

The room was spacious for a family room. The food was outstanding great portion sizes and a great choice at great prices. Breakfast is buffet style so you can eat as much or little as you want. We came for a family wedding at a local venue but is ideally placed for exploring . Staff are amazing too . Nothing was too much trouble.

Nothing negative to say about this amazing place.
