Green Tree Hotel

The staff were extra helpful and friendly, we were in the top room of the hotel, 4 of us and a dog, and it was hot!! So I asked for a fan and they found me one to use from the kitchen, no problem! Beds were clean and comfortable, spacious room for a family of 4. We also asked for ice cream at 10am on day of our departure as we realised what delicious flavours they had, and even though they were not serving until 12am, they were kind enough to serve us ice-cream, very nicely presented in dishes too, and honestly the biscoff flavour was the most amazing I've ever tasted!! I would highly recommend, we will return when we get the chance.

Fantastic value for money. Given how inexpensive it was compared to other hotel in Peebles, I worried it would be run down. Ok, it's an old fashioned hotel and there is some wear and tear, but the single room I stayed in was very nice. Good facilities, like a desk, chair, storage space, good shower, kettle and even some shortbread (you barely get that in 4 star hotel now never mind two star hotels). Everything in the room seemed very clean. The staff member Andy who met me on arrival was extremely welcoming. Breakfast included in the price and was perfectly adequate - not a fan of a cooked breakfast, so I just had cereal, coffee and toast, but it was all fine and nice that it was included.

This is probably not a hotel to stay in for a romantic night away, but it's perfect if you want good value for money in a basic but comfortable place. The plumbing was very loud - at some point it woke me in the night and I momentarily thought it was a fire alarm or something, because it had jolted me awake so abruptly. But that is normal in an old building. The bed was not the comfiest, but it was fine. There was no shampoo in the bathroom (only shower gel and soap).

I thought the hotel met all our needs and will definitely be back, having parking is a bonus but thay only have 6 maybe 7 spaces. I had a fantastic sleep and full breakfast was excellent. The staff where so friendly and chatty and made us feel very welcome. Didn't eat dinner at the hotel but will make a point in trying it next time, menu looked amazing

It's an old hotel and the rooms look Abit dated I really don't have an issue with wallpaper and furniture, I had a comfortable stay

Excellent breakfasts, good bedroom with a television which works well, plus facilities for making coffee & tea. Also, ideally located in Peebles town with easy access to shops plus other attractions. Peebles is a hill walker's dream. Glensax is a scenic gem, crowned by the mighty dome of Dun Rig (2,453 feet: classified as both a "Donald" and "Graham."). This great dollop of peat, molina grass and heather boasts glorious vistas which makes the effort required worthwhile. For those wishing to explore lower levels, they won't be disappointed - there is plenty to discover.

We returned to the hotel around 1230/1am as we had attended a wedding. Because of this we needed to enter around the back of the hotel which was extremely dark and wasn’t clear what door we were to use. There were still staff and others in the hotel up and about at this time so a better system could have been in place.

The accommodation is basic, but comfy beds, clean and everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It’s fantastic value, but what really tipped this from being okay to exceptional were the brilliant staff. A friendly welcome and genuinely lovely throughout. Really made what could have been an okay stay really nice. I was travelling alone with two young children and felt very at home. We also are there due to the welcome and the food was spot on. Recommend whole heartedly if you want clean, functional, but a warm welcome.

Perfect location for access to Tweed fishing. Very efficient but pleasant helpful staff. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and a really good value dinner menu including a fantastic world class steak pie! The hotel has a lovely bar attached which has an excellent local feel and ambiance. It’s a great value no frills family hotel - please never change!

The pub was good.The hotel was nice.The room was ok nice comfy bed .The people who run the Green Tree were great . Nice location brill.

Stayed in room 9 if you are a bit on the large size not much room near the top of the stairs.went through booking.cm thought we had paid in advance turned out we had to pay on the day we left.so i would advise you double check this when booking your stay here

We liked the location as it was on the main street. being able to park at the hotel was a bonus and being given a downstairs room as requested. The staff were all approachable and friendly which we feel is a priority as it makes us comfortable and able to ask for what suits our needs. Food was very good with generous portions, breakfast was as much or as little as requested and on a personal note my poached egg was cooked to perfection. The room matched the price, it had a very comfortable bed and had everything you needed including an extra heater. Most importantly it was very clean.

We would have liked some more stations on the T.V.

Easy to find. Off road parking for my motorbike. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. I was able to book an evening meal on arrival. Plenty of hot water for the shower etc The bed was comfortable for the night and the road noise was not a problem considering your on one of the main streets.

Single room in older property needs a refresh. Functional reminded me of student accommodation.
