The Crown Hotel

Central in Peebles and adjacent to bars, restaurants and sights. Nice views and pleasant staff. I had the penthouse suite for 4 of us staying together and it was comfortable and ideal for our the purpose of our trip. The breakfasts were large, well served and the sausage, haggis and bacon was tasty! The breakfast conservatory was lovely to sit in. The staff were all really smiley, chatty and friendly and really making and added plus to this hotel. Each was willing to engage, to help and to chat. I thought the staff were really top notch!

There were some trip hazards with level changes in the penthouse, which caused people to trip at night when you forgot they were there. I would have liked an alternate breakfast option to the classic cooked breakfast, like kippers! The baked beans were very sweet and not nice. You couldn’t know what was on the breakfast juice jugs, there were no labels to say what it was. The blaring music was unwanted and disturbing.

Great location, on the main street with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby, Lovely room, very clean and cosy, with no noise from nearby rooms, or from chambermaids in the morning. The staff is amazing, very helpful and always at hand for whatever you need, We had our meals in the hotel, and we weren't disappointed, great food and good value for money, The bar is great, full of locals and a great vibe, very lively makes a wonderful atmosphere, a final remark to our stay was the breakfast, as the first meal of the day is so important, we weren't let down, an amazing choice and very good quality, will be back with no hesitations and we highly recommend it for any visitors to the lovely town of Peebles :-)

Nice welcome from friendly staff who worked hard to provided a high level of customer care. Room and bathroom were clean and a good size. Beds were very comfortable. Unlike most hotels, the room was a comfortable temperature and the windows opened. We had breakfast & dinner both days. Service was excellent, good number of choices and food was great and fairly priced. My lasting memory of the hotel is the staff who consistently delivered a high level of service and were professional and courteous.

Entrance is direct from Main Street and rather narrow. There is no formal reception area. However this was not a problem as staff from bar area immediately attended to us.

The Crown hotel dates back to 1600s! Great town centre location. They let me bring my bike and wheel it round the back (a squeeze, but it worked). We ate in the hotel a lot- good value and a lively vibe. (The restaurant is very popular with locals.) Great shower- easy to work. The staff know what they're doing (efficient.)

Only 1 bed-side lamp, so we had to keep the overhead lights on. We are used to a king-size bed, so a double bed feels small (but it was as described).

The hotel was busy and atmospheric with the football being on I loved it, didn't hear a thing in my room which I thought I had no chance of getting to sleep The bedroom was a good size room no 5 And had the best sleep my bed was very comfortable and the linen clean and room spotless the shower was very powerful. Tea and coffee milk and biscuits. Extra heater in room

The bathroom tiles needed grouted but it didn't put me off. Could do with bigger shelve in shower to hold products as I can't bend down When we arrived the room was freezing but didn't take long to heat up I suppose it makes sense to keep heating off think I thought it wasn't working

The staff were lovely and very pleasant the location in excellent and the food is always really good

The street parking was a hit or a miss if there is something on at the theatre be prepared for a long walk to the hotel. The bed room we were in was a bit tired and the bed moved over the floor every time you turned over and not the comfiest bed we found it really hard. The bathroom didn't have a working extractor fan so smells came in to the bedroom area and made it smell musty and the sink plug didn't work so you could not fill the sink with water to wash or shave properly. The water pressure kept dropping to a trickle and the shower head leaked. Walking past the public bar to the restaurant the loud constant foul language was not pleasant I'm just glad we had no children with us.

Beautiful comfy room, spacious and welcoming. Staff friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast. Had lunch and dinner in the restaurant good choice and very tasty.

Make sure u don't get a street facing room, the hotel has a very busy bar which kept as awake until the early hours in the morning with the noise from the street. No shelf in bathroom to put your bits...toothbrush razor etc and in the shower for soap or shower gel.

The room was very comfortable, and was surprisingly large for a twin. Bathroom was also spacious and clean, so everything about the room was great. Good breakfast, and location right in the centre was great too.

The location over a bar on a Friday night meant it was very noisy until 1am. Inevitable under the circumstances, but anyone to whom this really matters should have had this pointed out to them before they booked. Also the lack of a real reception was strange.

I was attending a wedding alone because of a bereavement and the staff were very kind. Great breakfasts. Lively, friendly bar. Peebles is charming - one of the churches' bells played proper tunes on Sunday morning.

Not really a criticism because this is both a hotel and a popular pub with music but the music was quite loud until quite late so anyone wanting an early night and an early morning walk should be aware of this.

The crown hotel was the perfect place to stay in Peebles. Our room was incredible, separate bedrooms, separate bathroom and a living room / kitchen area. The facilities were great including ironing board, iron, hair dryer, toiletries and caffeinated and decaf tea / coffee. Beautiful view from the back of the hotel, and quiet even though it is on a main road. Amazing breakfast included in the price, beautiful food freshly cooked to order including your preferences. We also went to the restaurant in the evening which did not disappoint. Perfect if you have any intolerances. The gluten free menu was extensive and delicious. The staff were extremely informative and helpful, friendly and polite. support was given to access information about the local area and help make arrangements with taxis. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come again!

The only thing I would say is that the free parking is not guaranteed. The hotel itself does not have a car park, but there is street parking on the main road right outside the hotel, it’s completely free but varies where and when you can get a space.
