The Falcon Hotel

I paid for my parents to spend a night at the Falcon Hotel for their 60th wedding anniversary. The room was amazing and the breakfast was excellent.

Sadly the evening meal was a disappointment. Having eaten at the hotel before I knew how good the food usually is. Unfortunately on this occasion their food was inedible, undercooked vegetables, over cooked liver and gelatinous gravy. They left their food and received a condescending comment from the waitress saying the dish was usually well received by other guests. No apology, no option of another choice. Not interested. I feel very sad that what should have been a wonderful experience for them was ruined by a total lack of concern.

We had a living room with a large TV and separate bedroom which added to the comfort. Bed was comfortable so a good nights sleep was had. The bathroom had a superb power shower and loads of space for you to put out toiletries, although we were in the roof the sloping ceiling was not a problem. The lights dimmed in the living area so you could see if you woke in the night. Towels huge and soft. Staff very nice.

No offer to help with bags and the lift only went to 2nd floor so we had to drag our bag up a arrow flight of stairs. The fan offered by the hotel was very dusty and unclean - luckily we travel with our own large fan. The sash windows do not stay open and fully close unless you wedge something in- we should have reported this but forgot.

The room was spotless, quiet, spacious & comfortable; very comfy beds. Breakfasts are delicious. We had a fab time at the Bude Jazz Festival & The Falcon was the ideal venue as many of the bands performed in the hotel function rooms. The hotel is within walking distance of the canal, beach & town so a real winner. The fan was a thoughtful addition as the nights have been muggy... The staff were so welcoming, friendly & helpful & it's always lovely to see Sally again.

Mini Fridge in the room would be good

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice; the room was spacious with a large well appointed bathroom.

All minor and easy to fix really just for the Hotel's attention. There were no instruction on how to use the jacuzzi bath and the plug was stuck closed (the hotel very quickly had someone fix it and explain how to work the bath)and no instructions on how to work the coffee machine it was not too difficult to work out but a few simple how to use would have been useful. And there was no emergency/fire notice attached to the door.

Lovely family room. Clean. Nicely decorated. Fantastic location to town centre and beach. Very helpful staff, went above and beyond. Always happy to help. Was a nice atmosphere about the place. Breakfast was always perfect, good quality. Staff very cheerful and welcoming. I can't say enough positive things about the hotel. Would definitely go back.

Nothing negative at all.

Friendly staff, Alan is always exceptional. We have visited many times and plan to visit again early next year. The rooms are all very clean and well equipped.

The only issue is the cold and drafty bar area. The automatic entrance doors let a huge amount of cold air in and the bar door is propped open to enable ease of food delivery. On one evening we couldn't sit out of the draft at all because it was reserved for visiting musicians. It just takes the edge off a perfect stay. Maybe a heater above the doors would help?

Attractive premises in a pleasing location overlooking an historic canal and wharf now providing modern facilities. Pleasant well appointed and maintained room. The substantial and well prepared breakfast was very welcome. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Eating dinner in the bar proved to be rather noisy - but eating on my own I didn't have to worry about difficulties with conversation. The Brasserie would have provided a more sophisticated setting for dinner.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast options were plentiful which was good.

Communication of some things - I didn’t know breakfast was included (though that might be a Booking.com issue) or that there was additional parking available (people coming to the restaurant had parked terribly in their ridiculously big cars). More water in the room and a better kettle would make it even better

Whereas some hotels are "pets allowed" this hotel was definitely "pet friendly" (in this case dog friendly); Mya was treated like a guest, even to the welcome biscuits, bed and dog bowls. I arrived just after 8.15 when service ends but was able to order a light supper in the bar, the dog sitting under the table as I don't like to leave her in the room on her own. I was told that if she needed to go out in the middle of the night, there was a night porter, which was very reassuring though on this occasion not needed.

Customer service was on point, rooms were clean and well presented and the breakfast was fantastic. Ideally located opposite the canal and within strolling distance to the beach and the town. The Resturant was reasonably priced considering the quality and location. I made a couple of requests prior to arrival and they were met without hesitation. I’ve stayed at several of the hotels within Bude and this is one of the best. I’ll be returning again soon, highly recommended.
