Stow is a terrific choice for a central place to stay in the Cotswolds. There are 9 roads leading out of Stow in all directions and it provides a lot of options that are not far for travel to see different towns and villages. The town itself also has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and shops. Staff: The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Our check-in was easy and any time we had a question, the staff was terrific! Room: The room, #21, was large, quiet and comfortable. The only downside to it was that it is at the top of the house (the attic) and had "wonky" stairs (very, very crooked and uneven) to get up to it. It did not bother us but those who might be less spry should not stay in this particular room. Parking: We drove and the parking was right behind the hotel. We also were able to park in the central square right in front of the hotel without issue. Location: Location in town could not have been better in the central square. Stow is quaint, with wonderful small shops to browse. It was one of our favorite places in the Cotswolds! Catholic Church: this was important to us for mass on Sunday. It is a short walk from the hotel. The church is Our Lady and St. Kenelm; it's a small church that is accessed by walking through two alleyways between the main roads. (The alleys were interesting in themselves!) The mass was truly wonderful with a welcoming, enthusiastic congregation and a well-spoken priest! Dining: I think the biggest surprise to us was how excellent the food was for breakfast and dinner. It was fantastic, especially dinner, and the service was terrific. The decor is simple and quirky so I guess we didn't expect the superb dining experience that we enjoyed. Our compliments to the chef(s)! Have the onion gruyere tart and steak, or squid or salmon - all amazing!

The Old Stocks Inn didn't disappoint. After reading many complementary reviews it sounded like the perfect destination for a last minute birthday treat. We were greeted and directed straight to our room having checked in ahead online. The low beams sloping stairs and Cotswold stone features led us to our room. As we opened the door we were delighted by the warm and cosy room, which welcomed us with a serenade of quiet classical music playing in the background. The bathroom facilities were immaculate with the added treat of a deep roll top bath. We dined in the restaurant and had beautiful food and excellent service. Retiring to bed the bed was super cosy with the option to choose your pillow preference making our sleep experience perfect. In the morning we had a lovely sunny window table for breakfast with a view of market square and the church. Again the breakfast and service was excellent. All in a perfect little get away that will be our Cotswold favourite. We would certainly recommend.

We loved our 'Amazing great' room which overlooked the main square. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was exceptional and enjoyed some lovely cocktails in the bar area too. Every member of staff we encountered was absolutely lovely, and it was a nice touch that they allowed you free beverages in the mini bar. Fantastic hot shower too.

Honestly nothing, it was a wonderful stay. The only very small thing is that the bed in our room was two single beds joined together and it means you do get that annoying dip in the middle. I appreciate it allows more flexibility for those that want to use the room as a twin, so it really wasn't the end of the world. Also there was a bit of noise above us, but it's a really old building so you expect the creaks and noises - part of the charm!

Excellent stay in a fantastically renovated room under the eves at the top of this historic building. Great welcome, nicely thought out layout and very stylish. Great amenities in the bathroom, and nice powerful shower. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding and definitely recommended.

The bed could be more comfortable, two twins joined together to form a double which leaves a gap between two mattresses and we were disappointed that when we asked for softer pillows the only solution we were offered to remove the cover on the existing ones - strange since a pillow menu is offered when checking in. This meant our sleep was not as good as it could have been.

Excellent rooms and great bathroom with powerful shower. Staff very friendly, especially Justine, and the dinner and bar areas were excellent quality. The breakfast was also very good with plenty of options to please everyone. Also a great location in central Stow, which is a lovely town in a central place to explore the wider Cotswolds

Nothing at all to do with the accommodation, staff or food, it was all excellent, but as some others have commented, the access road to the rear car park is very potholed and could be improved for little cost I would have thought

If you find yourself fortunate enough to visit this most idyllic village, STAY HERE! Check-in was easy breezy and the woman in charge is nothing short of terrific! Our room was right on the front of the building overlooking the town square, old stocks, and church. I thought maybe it would be too loud, NOPE, the town is sleepy at night and no noise. AWESOME! Room was superb even with a low hanging beam that I was concerned with over the potential of knocking myself out on it after I might find myself a bit forgetful from a few too many ales. Neither my lovely wife or myself left with a bump. Breakfast was great. Food was top notch and the dining room looking out on the square nothing short of beautiful! Wifi worked great, water and shower were powerful and hot. No need for AC, windows open was all we needed. The view at night from the room over the church with the moon over it was priceless. Right across from the best pub, the Queen Arms, in town and a great bar inside the hotel as well. I could go on and on, but just to repeat myself STAY HERE!

Nothing bad at all.

very comfortable with just the right amount of facilities. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and attentive. Stow is a good location to explore the Cotswolds.

It was very hot weather during our stay and the upstairs bedroom was extremely hot. The funfair that arrived outside at the end of our stay was pretty unpleasant - I understand that this is out of your control - but I would have been unhappy if this had been in place for the whole of the holiday.

Very nice hotel, friendly welcome, room immaculate with everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. Shower was piping hot and powerful. Enjoyed cocktail in bar by wood burner and a lovely evening meal with plenty options for veggie. A really lovely stay and would recommend.

Room rate didn’t include breakfast and for the rate paid plus the additional cost for 2 breakfasts, I felt it made the overall cost per night high in comparison to similar small hotel options nearby- but the quality of decor and service was very good.

The Stocks was extremely clean, the staff were friendly and the location was perfect. I didn't sleep well, but that had nothing to do with the bed/room etc. Breakfast was lovely. I would highly recommend, and if we were to go back to The Cotswolds, would definitely stay here.

Would have preferred a twin room, but my fault as I should have requested this.

Stow is a lively cotswold town at the weekends, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs. The Old Stocks Inn is right on the market square, a great location. It is very much an updated, stylish place - with cocktail room, bar, restaurant and outdoor terrace all well designed and relaxing, yet vibrant spaces to be in. Welcoming, attentive staff, extremely comfortable beds, good showers, lovely products in use - and excellent food. We will be back for short treat breaks it hits the spot.
