I can't rate our stay highly enough. Everyone who looked after us at The Crown was a delight. We were travelling with our young daughter and had a family room. It was fantastic because we could put her to bed and still relax in our own space. The food was exceptional (dinner and breakfast), the chocolate cremeux was INCREDIBLE. Our bed was super comfortable, and the area was lovely to explore. I'd book again in a heartbeat.

The walls are thin so you can hear some of the music in your room. However, if you're eating at the restaurant, which I highly recommend, it'll probably be turned off when you go to bed.

The history is unrivalled. As you walk from the car park the courtyard Is like from a mythical story. The entrance is original with the cobbles and huge door and then the inside is eerily stunning. We ate and drank with the nicest people.i had the juiciest burger and my partner had a steak. The breakfast was exceptional. Excellent chef. Then the new owners were so passionate and as an avid traveller rate as the nicest owners we have met and wish them all the greatest luck and happiness for the future. We are definitely booking for next year.thankyou Andrew and Anne for a memorable evening. From Tony and Carrie from oldham

Leaving. Could be our new favourite place.

Amazing historical building dating from the middle ages when it was. The new owner is clearly really enthused about the building and is working hard to renovate it sympathetically, carrying out some of the work himself. We stayed in the Ascott room which had views over the road/village and was newly decorated and well-furnished. Advise bringing some earplugs if you're likely to be disturbed by road noise as it's an old listed building with no double glazing. The staff were wonderful and the bar was surprisingly lively with locals in the evening (bit of bar noise in the Ascott room too but it wrapped up by 11pm promptly). The food in the bar/restaurant was top notch as well. It's a reasonably expensive option but overall was worth the money for something a bit special.

Gorgeous historic building with an impressive entrance hall. Central location in the typical Cotswolds village of Shipton. The Lamb is a good pub just 5 minutes walk away. Train station 20 minutes walk. Superb breakfast with tons of choice. Very friendly and chatty staff. Highly recommend walking to three nearby villages of Swinbrook, Asthall, and Widford. Stop at the Swan at Swinbrook for lunch

The room. Small and a bit cramped with drab decor and got hot and stuffy overnight. The bathroom was very small. Noise from staff and guests chatting in the hall til 1am disturbed sleep. We really loved our stay overall, but we didn't think the room itself was good value for money.

We absolutely loved our stay. Jerry and Julie are very amiable and welcoming hosts, making us feel relaxed on arrival. Jerry had communicated with us ahead of time and the room was extremely well furnished with dressing gowns and a fantastic view of the historic courtyard. We had booked dinner where we started with scallops and followed with a sea bream dish and a battered cod; the latter of which we thought was the best fish and chips we'd ever had. The meal was completely delicious and Rik the chef had come out afterwards and was very friendly and chatty. Julie and Jerry suggested some local places to visit and wished us well on the remainder of our trip. While the hotel is lovely in its decor and facilities, Jerry, Julie and Ruk were wonderful and really made our stay a memorable and truly special one. Please do not change anything and we will gladly come to stay again!

Absolutely nothing to change. Lovely place and lovely staff.

The inn is located in a very nice, quiet part of the Cotwolds. It is however located on a busy street - which luckily got very quiet at night. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Beautiful common area. Very friendly staff. Amazing breakfast. Took a beautiful walk in the Wychwood forest. For dinner we went to the Lambs Inn - which had very good local food.

Inn is located on a very busy street. During the day it was quite noisy. The bar below our room also played rather loud music till late in the evening. But at night it was quiet, so we slept well.

Great location for my event. Room nice and quirky. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast really nice.

I would have liked an update on wi-if when checking in. Also took till the morning to find tea and coffee as in a draw box underneath the cups. Would liked to have been informed what I could have off the list for breakfast, as wasn’t really explained. Room was near the fire exit door to downstairs exit and was banging a lot with people going in and out to their rooms. Shower room small and the plastic bits on the doors needed securing.

The hotel was full of character as expected. We were later than planned arriving and the hotel still accommodated us in the dining room for an evening meal which was lovely. Excellent location for Blenheim Palace and surrounding Cotswolds and places to visit. Room was lovely with comfortable bed, full of character. Choice at Breakfast was good.

The hotel had explained they were short of kitchen staff prior to booking which did not affect the stay at all, although the breakfast service was a little slow due to staff shortages. Our room was at the top of the stairs and you can hear people sat in the foyer area of the hotel, a room overlooking the courtyard would be preferable to prevent the road noise.

Gorgeous ancient building and extremely comfortable and clean room. Lovely bath robes as well as towels. Absolutely superb breakfast including really good vegetarian options. We will certainly stay again and will likely use as a base for future visits we have to make in Oxfordshire.

Wasn't entirely sure we were expected even though we had notified our arrival time but very warm welcome throughout the visit. Road noise in our room but we were aware of that beforehand and it was not unexpected or really much of a problem. No evening meal available but booking made for us at a local pub which was excellent.

Beautiful. This was a random pick a few hours beforehand, and what a pick it was! Amazing building, fantastic hosts, great food. Really pretty courtyard beer garden. Amazing dining hall. Lovely secret garden a short walk away and pretty church/village location. Perfect overnight Cotswolds stop on our way to Oxford.

Obviously in such an old building, as expected, the room was tiny (last room available) but perfect for 1 night stop over.
