Fountain Inn by Greene King Inns

Staff and manager on my morning of departure were proactive, polite, kind and friendly and all round good. The room was clean, there's a tea and coffee set in room and bed is extremely comfortable. The whole experience is a "room in an inn" as opposed to a more formal "hotel" while the location is fantastic in heart of Cowes and you can see the water (a couple of metres away) from room windows. Overall my stay was really relaxing break

Nothing - all good - but it is very much a "room at inn" and not "hotel" experience.....which in fact is much more informal, relaxed and friendly/nice

This is the most dog friendly place we have ever stayed - from the freshly served sausage at breakfast, or the dog treats in the room! But even if you don't have dogs this is a very friendly and comfortable hotel with an excellent location.

The state of repair is not particularly good, everything works - but this is an old Victorian hotel and needs money spending on it. Did this impact our stay - no.

Great location, very friendly staff , excellent breakfast, would recommend this hotel to everyone, when I return I will definitely stay there again an excellent hotel .

I couldn't get into the WiFi also other people had the same problems with the WiFi but I used my own WiFi anyway and the doors are all close together and some people just slammed the doors that was my only winge .

Everything about the Fountain was great! Our welcome and help with luggage was amazing, nothing too much trouble for Andy!! Our room was lovely and comfy!! We didn't have much view, but that didn't spoil it! Breakfast was outstanding and abundant! Plenty of eggs, bacon, sausage, beans etc, some lighter choices as well! Fresh fruit, and pastries! Looked after by Nicky ❤️ they had live music in the bar, so a great atmosphere!! Bar staff were also very helpful, like to mention Harry and April, who we got to know 👍🎊 Not forgetting Nicola, who does so much behind the scenes xxx

The room was lovely 😊. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good. It was so close to the ferry so I didn’t have to travel much further with heavy bags and the bus stop into the town was 3 minutes up the road and the buses are every 10 mins so it made it very easy to access the other parts of the island.

The entry door right outside my door was loud every time someone opened it. I couldn’t open my window even a little bit to get some fresh air in, which was a bit annoying as I like to have it open a bit when I sleep.

The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Ideally located next to red jet terminal. Our room was on the first floor so was a bit noisy in the late evening but everything was quiet after closing. The breakfast is cooked to order so it's nice and fresh and importantly, hot. We were made to feel very welcome. Would definitely stay again.

The shower wasn't as powerful as we would have liked and pillows a bit hard but this is a personal preference. If you are booking the twin room it is situated on the 3rd floor, there isn't a lift. Elderly mum had to walk up the stairs.

the staff were excellent! very helpful and seemed to genuinely want to help you have the best stay possible with endless recommendations or places to go and eat! the value for money is excellent for what you get with a good buffet breakfast every morning! the location is exactly what you want as it's in the middle of cows and next door to the red jet passenger ferry! the rooms where simple but comfortable although need updating.

the only downers where that there is no free onsite parking so we ended up parking via ‘justpark’ and taking a short walk to get to the car when we needed it. and the rooms are comfortable and clean but in need of renovation and from what I hear this is in the pipeline and has been delayed by covid.

The Hotel and staff made our holiday.All the staff where excellent very friendly and very helpful.We stayed 8 nights and had breakfast and evening meals every day in the hotel. An excellent varied menu with very good quality food.Rooms where very clean.The location was spot on. We travelled down by train,crossed on the Red Funnel Jet from Southampton to West Cowes,the Fountain Hotel is located right next to the terminal.Excellent location.Central to shops and excellent Bus service.Very good choice of beers and spirits.Brill outdoor area to have a drink. The Hotel may be a little tired.

The staff could not be lovelier. So helpful and friendly. The Inn is very old and as such, the temperature will reflect the season. The room was perfect in October. The bed was comfy, the linen was clean and good quality. The breakfast was perfect, with very high quality and varied continental and a menu of hot breakfasts to order. The veggie full English was spot on, and massive portions. (All included in the one price) Great Central location, right by the red jet terminal and lots of shops and restaurants.

This is not something the hotel can change, but it's neighbouring free house is a brightly lit, cheap looking karaoke pub, that gets busy at 10pm and closes at 2am. The brash MC wishes he was on Ibiza, not IoW, and obviously whoever makes the noise regulations doesnt live nearby. If you're a light sleeper, it's not great. Maybe the rooms could come with complimentary earplugs? Obviously the age of the hotel is part of its charm and interest, but also the reason why they can't exactly sound proof and extensively update the place.

The staff were absolutely brilliant a credit to the management team. Everywhere was clean, and the food was well presented. Unfortunately, they had run out of some food on the menu, but plenty more options

The room was too hot but unable to open the window till late due to passers-by We should have mentioned to the staff the difficulty my husband has with stairs, and I knew there was no lift staff did offer to carry luggage so if you do struggle then make sure you request a first floor.
