Dovecliff Hall Hotel

Very welcoming helpful and accomodating staff. Brilliant communication before the booking. Delicious and filling breakfast. Lovely dinner that was most accomodating to our dietary needs. Muslim friendly if given enough notice :-) We had dinner and afternoon tea - all excellent quality. Herbs picked fresh from their garden. They very kindly upgraded us to their bridal suite for our wedding anniversary and the room was beautiful. Big sash windows with sunlight pouring in in the morning. Very good wifi available too. Ample parking. Beautiful dining place in the conservatory with gorgeous views of south derbyshire

The grounds are ample but in need of a little more maintenance. What has been developed is beautiful but it is a lot of ground I guess to up keep. It's a more traditional and smaller hotel so be weary that the room service finishes when the chef finishes and leaves for the night. No telephone in the room but I guess no need for it if there's no overnight service.

Wonderful building and nice grounds , good breakfast, very spacious bathroom, very efficient Young lady at night when we arrived late taken care of our need to have freezer pack frozen. Same young lady at breakfast just as good. Bianca was helpful at check out, but that was just the start , 30 mins after we left I got a call she’d found my DD card in car park and rang straight away so we could return and collect it. All staff nice.

There was a fan , but it was still warm in the room, but there was good window ventilation,

from start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Dovecliff. Yes, it’s what I would call ‘old fashioned’ but it’s super comfortable, the Wi-Fi is fast, bedrooms are quiet & I was lucky enough to have a river view from my bedroom. the staff were extremely welcoming & polished from the moment I arrived until I departed & the food & ambience - excellent 👌…. I’ve already recommended it to a colleague & would stay again with customers- especially during the summer- to really enjoy the setting … well done … it exceeded my expectations

The kids loved the breakfast, it was delicious! We also loved the veranda so we could sit outside and watch the stars and get some fresh air when we wanted. The kids also loved the large walk in wardrobe.. they wouldnt stop hiding in it! The staff were all absolutely lovely and accommodating for our last minute stay. We will definitely be coming back!

The kids got a little frightened by the peacock sounds at night but after the staff explained that they are safe and won't hurt them they calmed down :)

A very impressive hotel lots of period features decor appropriate to style and in keeping with the building The staff were all very friendly teamwork strongly in evidence during breakfast service all staff cheerful and very attentive and helpful, nothing was to much trouble food presentation was good too. Lovely cooked breakfast. Excellent value .

only slight area for improvement was the bathroom could do with a little refreshing areas of paintwork and decor felt a little tired and dated but all was very clean

The hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed at the hall with my parents while visiting family before Xmas. The hotel was beautifully and elegantly decked with Christmas trees, lights, and decorations. There was a fantastic pianist playing gentle carols in the bar area. This created such a cosy and welcoming atomsphere to relax in and made the stay extra special. Breakfast was cooked fresh and delicious. Our rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Lots of car parking space. We shall definitely be back.

The room was lovely and comfortable with a great bed, plenty of space, nice furniture, a very nice patio outside and fabulous views. It was also nice and cool despite the good weather. Staff very friendly and helpful throughout. Meals were very good restaurant quality and we cancelled a pre-arranged dinner to eat in again a second night. Has a lovely lounge and fabuluous gardens

Food and staff were friendly, helpful and very aconidating. We loved the ambience of the conservatory, and the gardens . The rooms were very clean and we enjoyed the daily little touches that made our stay very comfortable.

Since we arrived by train, we needed a taxi to get around. Location was beautiful but too far to walk, Although smaller towns nearby.

We actually had a larger room than expected with a patio which was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated.

Breakfast was disappointing as we ordered a veggie breakfast and a full English but got two veggie breakfasts (my husband did not want to say anything) and my husband's side plate was taken away before we had toast so he had to use a saucer. Also my husband had to ask for juice as it had run out and a fellow guest had to ask for cups for their hot drinks which were then also brought to us as we were also missing cups on the table. In addition the shower in our room I was unable to get to work.

Staff were welcoming , I had a nightmare with something I had organised separately and the staff were so helpful to try and sort it , couldn't do enough for me , would definitely stay again . They couldn't fit us in for dinner (already an organised event) but offered us a cold platter to have when we wished to have it (pre-ordered) . Breakfast was lovely too
