Woodland Bay Hotel

Breakfast was fantastic.plenty continental to go for . Then a full Scottish cooked to order. Tasty AF. You don’t have to go for the full Monty. If you just wanted beans and toast with a wee sausage or poached eggs job done. Stayed for 2 nights .2 great meals. Fish one night steak pie 2nd night. Tasty lentil soup and sticky toffee pudding. I thought very reasonably priced.cooked and served with a professional attitude and a smile. I think the restaurant was only opened back up a week when I arrived What a great great job they have done to get it back up and running again.I’m sure they will just keep getting busier and busier. With that kind of hospitality it can only be. Thank you very much Michael and his team.

What could have been better. There is always room for improvement everywhere you go.here however ,not a lot. Maybe if I’m really picky I would have liked the shower water a bit hotter.I couldn’t see a temperature button.

From Booking through to checkout the service was impeccable. The staff accommodated outside of their regular operations despite my awkward arrival times. They were very communicative. The rooms were wonderful and had every facility I could have hoped for.

There was no hot breakfast due to their restaurant being closed (ongoing issues since the covid shutdowns). But they made every reasonable effort to compensate this and provided cereals and continental breakfast which was second to none and could be enjoyed in the comfort of your own room

Bed was massive staff were very friendly (made it feel very homely and welcoming) room was modern and well equipped, very generous with breakfast items and no problem when we asked for refills good size bathroom with power shower Great views from the room of the sunset On the beach in 2 minute walk across a road. (Dog loved that!)

Shame that the bar/restaurant wasn't open Room was a little too warm on an evening - couldn't really open the window because the road was a little noisy Shower was so powerful it forced the head upright!

Clear check-in instruction was given beforehand when the hotel knew that we will check in very late at night. Baby cot was put up and clean, and the room was spacious with a full kitchen facility (great when you're travelling with a baby.) Staff was very friendly and helpful, it was a pity that we didn't get to stay longer.

Dog friendly and a lovely continental breakfast supplied in your room prior to arrival. The room has a microwave and a fridge which is a bonus. Beds very comfortable and the rooms are spacious. Good sized en-suite and the shower was great. Every room has its own front door opening on to a courtyard which is great for taking the dogs out. Good beach across the road, but you have to be careful crossing the busy road.

Where room was situated but unfortunately at time of booking no sea view rooms were available. Definitely a noisier side of the hotel, with cars coming and going quite a lot past the room.

Location was good although it was next to a very busy road. Continental breakfast was excellent, great choices and plenty of it. Liked that you could enjoy this in your own room. Dog friendly which was a plus for us and charges for dogs were reasonable. You could walk the dogs around the farm grounds or cross over to a sandy beach. Staff were lovely and friendly.

Microwave/oven quite difficult to work out, although we managed in the end. No restaurant due to covid but you could order a meal to be delivered to your room. Downside was it had to be a full meal, no snacks available, so we just heated a ready meal.

Great location for a wedding in a nearby venue. The host was very welcoming. The room was lovely, nicely decorated with a small kitchen area which was stocked with items for a continental breakfast (croissants, cereals, jams, cold meat, cheese, yoghurts, fruit juices, milk and bottles of water), a comfy bed and a great shower. What more do you need for an overnight stay! 😊 Dinner was room service only as the restaurant is still shut. We had fish and chips...huge portions and piping hot which we ate at the small 2 seater dining table and chairs. Our other family members in a nearby room had the same experience. The hosts were still very Covid conscious, which was good to see. Limiting their contact with you, even down to their checkout process which was literally leave your key in the outside of the door and your invoice was emailed to you later in the day. My husband did pop into reception though to pay for the previous nights dinner.

Having stayed at The Woodland Bay before this return trip was equally good. The staff were all very friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. Food service hasn’t yet returned to pre Covid times but the alternative arrangements were excellent. The dinner menu was varied and a phone call to the chef to order was followed by well cooked, hot food delivered to our room. Each room had a well equipped kitchenette with continental breakfast already in the room. There was plenty of it ranging from cereals to croissants to fruit, cheese, ham and yoghurts. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining area and staff were very helpful. There was a choice of non dairy milk but not gluten free cereal choice.

The room was not cool overnight in the hot weather and a better gluten free choice would have helped. There were gluten free sausages but not cereal.

The staff were all warm and helpful at all times. The standard of cleanliness was exceptional both inside the room and on the communal outside spaces. Breakfast (vegetarian) was delicious, dinner had a very limited selection for a vegetarian, allergic to garlic customer!
