Despite being a largely 1970s rebuild, this historic inn has the atmosphere of a building centuries rather than decades old. The hosts were welcoming and the recently refurbished room was comfortable. Although a large building, the inn has a cosy feel - not least evidenced by the cat flap in the fire exit! Breakfast was of very good quality and we enjoyed the opportunity to sample an evening meal. The menu balances the expected with the innovative and nothing which came out of the kitchen was anything less than excellently prepared. We were travelling with a trailer and (with the permission of the hosts) the large car park was able to accommodate that and leaving it on site as we went to explore the surrounding area.

The room retained a lot of heat from the sunny day and was a little too warm; it would have been good to have had something like a fan provided. The 1970s plumbing was a little overwhelmed by the (excellent) shower causing the bathroom floor to get wet; the hosts were happy to provide extra towels and this didn't really spoil the stay.

The accommodation was overall very good. The Staff were professional but also very friendly . Breakfast was excellent with very good quality food products , one of the best we have ever had. The rooms were spotlessly clean . The bathroom had recently been renovated and was brand new and very nice although a little compact.

The room was rather small but adequate for two nights. There was only one thing that i suggest absolutely needs reviewing and that is the towel rail that hangs over the shower to house the bath sheets , as the bathroom is very small, space is obviously an issue so the rail has been hung over the shower to save space but ultimately has become a hazard when moving from the toilet to a standing position and when entering the bathroom in the night. On several occasions both my Husband and myself had banged our heads on it and walked into it. Just a minor niggle but one worth mentioning.

restaurant and food excellent, great menu, Dinner was brilliant, nice wines too. But my choice of cereal (bran flakes) not available for breakfast, maybe because there were so few guests. Staff were very friendly and helpful - excellent in fact. Check in excellent. No waiting time. Parking good and secure.

TV didn't work - but was too late to do anything about it, after driving 200 miles, and being exhausted after dinner. Only one night stay. I did report it to them and they said they would have a look And the shower was really difficult to turn on and off. But they said they would fix that too.

What a lovely pub and inn! Staff really welcoming. Nicely presented building, love the dog-friendliness even though we don't have one. Room clean and comfy. Excellent newly fitted shower. Service was great - we couldn't hang around for breakfast so they made us bacon sandwiches to take away which were flipping lovely.

The only thing I can think of was that the bed was quite small. A traditional double, so both I and my 6 foot-plus husband had our feet sticking out the bed. Oh - and I couldn't get WiFi to work on my phone, but husband managed on his ipad.

Lovely warm and welcoming pub where dogs are welcome if you book ahead. Beautiful building and cosy, spotlessly clean room with updated en suite facilities. Everything was clean with soft towels and toiletries provided. The breakfasts were hearty and plenty of choice to help yourself. Oat milk available along with dairy free spread which was all really good for us. A great location for touring the area and not noisy at night. Happy to highly recommend this pub for travellers to the area.

My only problem was that the matress wasn't comfy for me but that could be personal taste. The bed linen was exceptionally clean and there were plenty of pillows so I am not complaining at all.

The breakfast was superb, all freshly cooked and plentiful. There was also fresh juice, yogurts, spreads, fresh fruit salad. Plenty of tea, coffee and toasts. Evening meal was freshly cooked, imaginative menu, we'll priced. Good choice of well priced real ales. Extremely friendly staff, beautiful building with fantastic ambience. Warm, clean and very comfortable. Super large free car parking.

Bed was a little small, totally our fault as we are used to a king size so should have booked a room with similar. This is not in any way a criticism of the hotel!

Very easy check-in, personally shown room. Excellent dinner menu with locally sourced produce and fantastic cooked breakfast. Room was very clean with new fixtures/fittings. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large car park.

Countryside location so WiFi wasn't great. Room was very warm due to thatched roof, so was a bit uncomfortable when sleeping. No socket next to the bed (on either side) so phone charging was a bit inconvenient.

Exceptional place to stay. Room was small but spotless clean. Shower brilliant, water hot! The Staff couldn't do enough for you. Even Alfie the waiter is a credit to you! Relatively good menu selection and food was amazing. Even the breakfast pipping hot. A really Charming Inn and well worth visiting. Downside for me personally which I guess can't be avoided was they welcome Dogs. So we had a few episodes of barking dogs and it got rather smelly at times. Would definitely stay again.
