The Woodlands Hotel

Lovely hotel with excellent room and access to a gorgeous garden! Ideal with a dog. Have booked again. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.and the breakfast has a nice selection to suite everybody. Very large conservatory with an honesty well stocked bar.

If you bring a dog, you have to eat under cover in the garden which is fine when its sunny but not so great when it's raining. Feel a bit austrasized but a heater is available if needed. Other hotels we have stayed in provide a separate room for dog owners. Maybe the conservatory could be used for this purpose.

The hosts Dan and Megan make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door for the first time. The rooms are all individually decorated, spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much for them. Breakfast is lovely and definitely worth trying the evening meals they are delicious and very good value for money. Can't forget to mention the dogs Coco and Chip who also welcome you into their home and the free range chickens that roam around the garden during the day are just a delight to see. Thank you for a lovely stay and we would definitely recommend to anyone considering a visit to Sidmouth and should we venture down there again we would definitely return to this hotel.

Breakfast very good with a wide variety. original room was upgraded as original not suitable for us cupboard did not fit our clothes and window opened out next to main roundabout of a busy road. room was immaculately kept every day. Very friendly staff.

original room noisy near a main road including no large mirror to see how we looked when dressed. Evening meals whilst excellent in quality the price was inclusive of a 3 course and you had to book from the morning with what you were going to eat.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating as we had to change our dates. No problem finding the venue and plenty of parking. We loved the honesty bar & enjoyed some crisps as we arrived too late for dinner. The room and shower room were very clean. and looked recently decorated The breakfast was delicious, lovely choice of fresh fruits, muesli etc followed by a full English which we really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and offered extra tea, toast etc.

The room was quite small and it was very easy to hear those in the next bedroom.

Woodlands Hotel is a real gem! From the warm reception at check-in, to the equally warm goodbye, the entire experience was positive. Clean room (everything worked), spacious public areas (conservatory, plus a huge and exceptionally well-maintained garden, with a stream running through it for added character) and a breakfast of freshly-cooked, quality ingredients, served piping hot. Sidmouth isn’t an area that features frequently on our travels, but Woodlands Hotel makes us wish it did! We’d happily stay here again.

Clean, comfortable single room, and a double my dog was made very welcome. Very good breakfast, lovely staff, had electric car charge points, car park. Good location and fab garden which dogs can use on a lead. Really nice shower. Very comfortable hotel, Dan and Megan are very welcoming and helpful.

I dislike UHT milk which was in the room and supplies were limited to 4 teabags/4 UHT milk a day, good thing I take my own tea, nice to have a T pot, mugs would be a nice addition.

Lovely old building. Wonderful breakfasts, gluten free bread and sausages. Huge comfortable bed, good quality linen, everything was spotless. Good shower. Exceptional service from the owners and staff. Parking on-site. Loved the bright lighting in bedroom. Nice big TV with Freeview but very frustrating trying to work out how to use it, some instructions in room would have been helpful.

Room at side of hotel a bit small, poor view and noisy. An old building so understandable but woken every day by lots of banging from kitchen areas. Too many stairs! Shower room quite small. Awkward to fill kettle as did not fit under tap.

Very welcoming staff who personally showed us around the facilities. Lots of comfortable seating areas including a large conservatory with pool table, piano and honesty bar. Cooked to order breakfast which was very tasty. There was a lovely garden which we didn't use due to the weather but can imagine it to be a very relaxing space in the warmer weather. Great location, a short walk into the town centre and seafront. Would highly recommend and would return if in the area.

Warm reception helpful a lovely place to relax convenient to the seafront good breakfast nice and quiet Dan rang me the night before arriving to see if we required an evening meal as we would be the only people in the restaurant I rang and said we would not bother as just getting the chef in for the two of us was a lovely idea but we thought better of it but to ring and ask and get a chef in for just 2 people was outstanding thank you Dan

Exceptionally clean, the lounge and conservatory were very attractive and comfy, friendly staff, room was a good size, beds were really comfortable to sleep in, breakfast’s were delicious. Hotel was a short walk to the beach/shops.

The service at breakfast, was slightly slow.
