Harbour Hotel Sidmouth

Location was great and within walking distance of beach and town. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice. Staff were excellent too. Very organised and helpful.

When we checked in we had to ask where to go to get to the room and had to search for the restaurant and breakfast times ( these were on a leaflet in the room) but nice to be explained when booking in. We were checked in by someone that had just started that day so not her fault but other staff helping her did not give the details.

Good cooked breakfast choice but service was a bit slow especially when the restaurant was busy. Lovely location and great sea views. Liked the numerous outside tables and beds to sit/lay on and plenty of swimming towels.

The spa was closed for the week due to maintenance so it would have been nice to know that in advance. There was no air conditioning in the bedrooms which was a shame as it was a hot week and I didnt think it was a good idea to have glass bottles for the body wash and shampoo lose in the shower, when they were filled up they were quite heavy and I can see someone having an accident. The products were lovely but needed to be attached to the wall. Our room fridge wasnt working which was also a shame as it was hot.

On arrival reception very kindly had placed a cone for my husband’s car as he is disabled. They was really kind and very welcoming. The room was very comfortable with great views from the large balcony with chairs and a table. Complimentary gin and tonic in the room was a huge surprise too. Very comfy bed and the fan an added bonus as it was hot. The bar staff and restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - great to engage in a chat with them. The food was just delicious and well priced. The outside patio over looking the pool and sea was so relaxing. We will be back.

Provide real ale perhaps.

The location was perfect, with a beautiful view over the sea. It was a couple of minutes walk to the beach and town centre. The hotel was beautifully decorated, staff were helpful and friendly. We asked for a late check out or if there was a room we could get changed in as we were attending an event and were given a free late check out. There was a small but perfectly formed outdoor pool with loungers, towels and seated areas overlooking the sea. The spa had everything you could want with a pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and loungers indoors and outdoors. It was very quiet when we where there so virtually had the place to ourselves. We ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent with a good choice. Would definitely recommend staying here.

the parking in on a first come first served and was extremely busy, so you will be lucky if you can get a space.

Exceptionally clean, bright and cheerful decor. Excellent choice of breakfast. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Bar area lovely with a good choice of wines/alcoholic beverages. Mini bar in room with a selection of snacks and drinks for a charge.

There are lifts to the the second floor but depending on which room you have, you may need to go up/down two steps. Not an issue for me but anyone with mobility issues might have a problem. The outside pool is lovely, if a little small and only 1.3m at it’s deep end. Still, a great addition to the hotel though.

Fabulous position, food was great, staff very friendly but service at times could be slow. Room was excellent and quiet with a wonderful view but bodged repair on balcony decking needs to be looked at (room 6). Overall great hotel and the weather was fantastic.

No electric charging points, there are several in town car parks but none on site, could be a turn off for electric car owners. Loungers by pool very uncomfortable, the simple addition of cushioning would solve the problem. No bible in the room, Good News for Everyone (used to be called Gideons) provide them for free to hotels.

Amazing location with an easy walk to the beach and town of Sidmouth, very nicely decorated, good facilities, it felt like I was staying somewhere a bit more special than the norm.

The room was unbearably hot on a day when it was very sunny - but not all that hot outside (about 20 degrees). There was no heating on, there was no air con, and the window would only open a tiny amount. I put the fan on but it just moved the hot air around. I tried holding the door open to get some air flow, but in the end had to leave the room and come back far later in the evening when it had cooled a bit. It was still very hot in the room at 11pm, but chilly outside. Some areas of the spa and changing rooms need some repair work. The restaurant service was exceptionally slow, with the staff standing around the bar chatting rather than working. Not very family friendly, kids are only allowed in the pool for two hours a day, even during school holidays.

Good set of Staff, great cleaning services and reception acted on all requests. Food was excellent and the bar staff were well trained.

The room wasn't Aired properly, a lack of ventilation, it required a fan to move the air around, which was supplied on request. The room didn't have any points to use for the hair drier near the dressing table. Reception supplied an extension lead so we could get an electrical point for the hair dryer. There wasn't much room for our two cases, which did make the room feel a little cramped. The swimming pool was very narrow and could only accommodate one swimmer.

We loved the location, the views of the sea and the cliffs are extensive, the breakfasts were excellent. There is a well stocked bar. Good menus in the restaurant. Plenty to see nearby.

The room was a little tired, woodwork in the bathroom was painted over the damage, and the bath had chipped surfaces where someone had dropped the shower head. there were no slipper supplied until we asked and only three cotton wool balls in a very large jar. Cleaners knocked on the door while we were still getting ready to go out. Some of the service in the restaurant was flawed, when we asked for vinegar it never arrived until we asked a second time and the language difference was a problem when we asked for a cheese board to arrive at the same time as a main.

Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Really didn't like the loud jazzy music while we having our evening meal. When we complained it was turned down very slightly. When we complained again we were told it was what the manager wanted. Oh well, so long as the manager liked it. We ate out one night to get away from it. The hotel also ran out of biscuits and small milk cartons for our room while we were there. We didn't like the minimalist reception desk which was so high you couldn't see the staff at a distance.
