The Kingswood Hotel

Breakfast was very good, great location easy walking to Restaurants shops and the town. Outside seating was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Restaurant prices (for an evening meal) were good value.

CAR PARKING VERY LIMITED - when we booked a space was guaranteed only for the last night. I incorrectly assumed there would parking available. There was limited free parking on the front, however, after cruising up and down several times there were no spaces. I had to park in the local private car park at £12/day. I did complain and requested a good will gesture to refund or a Hotel voucher. There policy is NO. If you are not guaranteed a space then need to factor in Car Parking costs.

The location - right on Sidmouth seafront - was excellent. We had stunning sea views from our third floor balcony and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to amazing views. The breakfasts were filling and delicious- they definitely set us up for the day! Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Only a small gripe - but the shower wasn't that great (!). It went from scalding hot to freezing cold when moving the temperature control dial slightly. The water pressure wasn't brilliant either. My daughter's bed (a sofa bed) had metal bars that stuck into her back and she said it was quite uncomfortable. Otherwise everything was fabulous 👌

I loved that it was on the seafront, near to the shops was a bonus. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable residents lounge and terrace. Breakfast was excellent

My mattress was very soft and I did feel as if I was going to roll off it. I could have asked if they could change it but as I was only staying 3 nights I made do. Parking was very expensive, had to pay £42 for 3 days which included overnight. Although I booked about 3 months in advance through booking.com, I was told there were no spaces in the car park. When I mentioned this to reception they said I should have rung the hotel direct.

The hotel was beautifully presented throughout with light modern touches.The staff were helpful and the restaurant staff couldn t do enough to help with our needs.The residents lounge was spacious and the complementary coffee and chocolates after dinner was a special touch.It was surprising how quiet it was after 11pm,the guests were very respectful of each other.Everything was well ordered and ran like clockwork,rooms were cleaned and tidied if required. Luckily I was able to park outside the hotel because we had a Blue Badge but parking could have been problematic for anyone less able to walk to the available car parks in town

The only problem we found was our room was at the end of corridors with several stairs between them.The lift did not exactly help very much. I was staying as a carer to a friend with dementia and the differing levels of the corridors and of room 117 was worrying with a lower level bathroom.I was worried about trips to the bathroom for him at night.I feel easier access rooms would have been more preferable for the disabled.The room however was delightful,the bathroom luxurious. We dined at the hotel every evening,the daily change of menu was excellent, as was the food.Breakfast service was efficient too with good choices,very satisfied with all the catering.

Breakfast, service and location all very good. Dinner menu had adequate choice. I loved the seasonal vegetable choice and the quantity served.

My room was small with the bed hard up against the wall so the curtains inconveniently rested on my bed as they were too long. The safe (which was not working when I arrived) was difficult to access, except on one's knees, as it was on the floor of the very small wardrobe. The room was hot and a small mini fridge for cold drinks would have helped. Breaded fish (haddock?) on 1st September was dry and seemed overcooked.

Nicely appointed single room with all facilities needed and with french doors to a small terrace overlooking the seafront. Extremely clean. Very good breakfast and a comfortable lounge. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Thank you all.

Just one thing to consider if the parking facility is important to you: Check whether it is possible to reserve a space when you book or whether it is a matter of first come first served (which is fair enough). I did have conflicting messages about this. There is paid parking close by though and a very limited number of free on-street parking spaces in front of the hotel.- if you are lucky enough to get one!

Nice and courteous staff, good breakfast with a good selection and a large room.

The room and the furniture are a bit worn out. At second glance, one discovers one or two older stains on the walls and furniture, some corners in the room could be cleaned better and the shower gel of the previous occupants was still stuck to the shower fittings. I had a room facing the backyard and due to the warm days it was necessary to leave the window open. However, the place is also a popular perch for seagulls, which made a lot of noise at all hours and woke me up before my alarm clock. But that's not the hotel's fault.

The hotel is directly at the beach. We had a room with a balcony and sea view, which I would recommend to book. The room was small but had everything we needed. We did appreciate the dog friendliness as well, not just in the hotel but in Sidmouth in general. The breakfast was amazing - one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. It was cooked fresh based on our choice of the day and the variety of options was amazing!

The cleaners could have made a little bit more effort. The bed was made every day but the cleaning of appliances in the room, the floor and the bathroom could have been better. It didn't bother us though.

Sea front location 10yds to beach, very good breakfast plenty of choice.

Second visit to this hotel and both times hotel parking unavailable, off site parking quite expensive.
