The room was clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom and direct access to the grounds. All the staff were lovely, especially Niki who remembered us straight away from a visit a few years back. The food was exceptional. It is a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay

The staff were also friendly and helpful. The hotel was in an ideal, peaceful location, 10 minutes walk away from the centre & seafront. They accept well-behaved dogs and they have an abundance of electric car charging spaces. The food was excellent in the restaurant (though pre-booking is essential) and the breakfast was legendary! Plenty on offer.

my single bed needed replacing as it squeaked every time of the slightest movement which didn’t make for a good night sleep. (this was reported to the front desk and they are closed for the winter now so I’m sure it will be sorted). I feel that a 4’6” bed would be much better suited for travellers nowadays. I felt the price for a single bed was expensive. Also, the Internet did not work in the bedroom. Not a problem for one night but if I was staying longer it would be an issue. The Internet was weak generally around the hotel except for around the main reception area.

lovely location with plenty of (electric) parking spaces. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The set 2/3 course menus were excellent (booking in advance is essential). My mother had a spacious double room in the old part of the house with an ensuite bath, which she loved. I had a spacious single bed with an ensuite shower - both rooms overlooked the garden.

The single bed in my single room was stark and exceptionally squeaky, so I didn’t get much sleep, as I couldn’t move, without it squeaking badly. Personally, I think a small double would be better suited to the room. After all one is still paying £100 for the night. The bedroom walls are paper thin and I could hear the next rooms TV & chatter into the early hours. There was no internet in my part of the hotel (my mother didn’t have a problem in her room above the reception). I felt I had to complain in the morning, so let’s hope the owners address the problems in their winter break.

The breakfast was excellent, hot, minimal waiting with cereal, pastries as well as cooked option. Lovely room with dual aspect windows, spacious room , comfortable bed. Both slept well.

Unable to book for dinner with dog unless we were prepared to leave her alone in a strange room or alone in a cold car in pouring rain. No! We therefore had to turn out in pouring rain and gale force winds to find somewhere that could provide dinner with a dog. We found somewhere but would’ve been helpful if reception had provided some restaurant names.

Best hotel breakfast I have ever had - superb.

The fact that we were unable to have dinner at the hotel as all tables were pre-booked. When we asked if we could have sandwiches in the bar with our drinks, we were told they don't provide bar meals. So we had to buy 'meal deals' from the local Tesco Express on the first night. Second night we ate elsewhere. Also the bar was only open an hour or so both evenings - possibly due to staff shortages. However the hotel was of a high standard, the room comfortable and the staff all pleasant and helpful. It was only a ten minute walk to the town & sea front.

plenty of choice for breakfast, not only continental if you wanted it but also cooked.

unfortunately there was no note of me booking a bath and a shower, however they were able to accommodate us up until thursday of our stay when we were moved into a shower only room. Meant to have mentioned that we couldn't operate the rainfall shower to work. The handset shower was fine, although not very powerful.

Peaceful and relaxing stay in this lovely country house. Well situated for walking The Byes riverside walk into town and on to the seafront. Staff are lovely, attentive and caring. Food was good, breakfast delicious and we had dinner on one of the 3 evenings we stayed there. Enjoyed a cream tea in the delightful gardens. A real green space oasis in the heart of Sidmouth. Peaceful and quiet.

Only one of the four sash windows in our room could be opened. The heating was also on in the room too when we arrived even though it was end of May/early June and quite warm! We obviously switched the radiators off but it would've been nice to have been able to open more of the windows. The fan and lights in the en suite are automatic as you enter, makes a discrete nip to the loo in the middle of the night more of an event than in needs to be. Would be better if the LED mirror light could run independently.

Hunters Moon Hotel and its staff gave us an excellent long weekend stay. The room was very comfortable and clean, and large enough to easily accommodate the two of us and our dog (who aways travels with an unnecessarily large bed). The staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel grounds are enclosed and well kept and lead to a public NT park that is adjacent to the river. So our water loving woofer had a great time. Breakfast had an excellent selection of cold buffet and cooked food, the latter being served on hot plates - which gives an indication of the care taken to do things right.
