Breakfast on the two days we stayed there was excellent, a choice of cereals, cooked breakfasts, variety of juices, coffee especially were very good and of course tea. The dinners were very good on both nights and what to expect in the Inn, nicely done, hot, and filling with a choice of menu. The room was clean, with all the facilities you need ie towels etc and comfortable with a fresh outlook, and the bathroom plus a fairly good view of the seafront. Had trouble sleeping on the first night due to the extreme heat we were having but there is a window to leave open as well as the curtains to close to keep it cool when you need to. The staff were impeccable from start to the finish of our stay there, whether they were busy at all times, they coped with it very well, always with a smile, friendly and helpful. Recommended for all couples.

Provide special fans in the Summer if it helps? otherwise, everything was all good. Recommended.

The staff were lovely. So friendly and polite. It was busy but we didn’t ave to wait long for food in the evening. A good choice at breakfast. I had had trouble using the coffee machine. I asked the young lady preparing the rooms if she knew how it worked. She immediately took me back into our room to show me.

Narrow stairs and we were on the third floor. My mistake I should have checked. My husband has mobility issues, but he managed. The manager had offered to see if there was a more accessible room in a sister hotel. No instructions for the coffee machine!

The hospitality was superb ~ staff, food, rooms etc Staff were friendly and helpful ~ nothing was too much trouble./

The STAY was excellent HOWEVER our experience was spoiled by lack of communication through the central switchboard (?) emails?? We checked out on Sunday January 29th. On Monday morning my wife called the hotel to enquire if she had left her electric toothbrush in the bathroom of Room 4 to arrange return/postal cost. She could not speak to anyone but left a message on "reserve a room". She was told she would receive a call back. Nothing so she emailed a message later. Still no reply. I called on Tuesday morning and was told we would be contacted. Still nothing and to date (Friday 3rd February) still no reply. New toothbrush was purchased as we simply gave up with your shocking communication facility. Such a shame.

I recently stayed at Dukes Inn during a difficult time, as I had just lost my uncle in Malaysia. Despite my somber mood, the hotel provided a calm and comforting ambiance that helped me grieve. The sea view from my room was absolutely spectacular, and the comfortable bed and amazing breakfast further added to my positive experience. Moreover, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made me feel at home. Overall, I highly recommend Dukes Inn to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating stay. I look forward to returning and experiencing the warm hospitality again.

nothingI am pleased to give this hotel a perfect rating of 10 out of 10, as I could not find any fault during my stay. From the amenities to the service, everything was impeccable and exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail and the high level of care provided by the staff made me feel valued and appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an exceptional experience and look forward to returning in the future.

We were able to check in early as our room was ready. The room was great with a terrific sea view. The hotel is centrally located in the town for the shops and other cafes and pubs, yet still quiet at night. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, even letting us plug in a mobility scooter to charge overnight from the mains electric in the reception area. Breakfast each day was fresh and tasty and well presented. Would happily recommend this hotel for a family stay.

A more comfy chair in the bedroom would be better if like me you don't like to relax on the bed in the day time. The WIFI signal was a bit intermittent too.

Stayed here before and will again. Excellent location, rooms are well equipped and comfy, especially like the provision of a bottle of water (glass not plastic). They seem to be quite ethical, with excellent breakfast options catering to a full range of sustainable provisions and lifestyle choices. They are less formal than their sister hotels, which is great for those young at heart as Dukes is the social hub of Sidmouth.

Not suitable for those with mobility issues as all rooms accessed by stairs. As this is not a hotel, check in can be a little confusing. There is no designated reception.

The location on the seafront and proximity to shops etc is excellent. Room 14 is spacious and comfortable with a sea view. All the staff were charming and friendly, the food excellent.

There are no lifts which is a problem for anyone with walking disabilities. There were no toiletries provided (apart from liquid soap) in the bathroom and an inconvenience that could easily be rectified (in Room 14 anyway) was that there was no mirror anywhere near an electric point, making hair drying a bit tricky!

The location is great. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. Lovely shower. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast lovely.

No separate front door for hotel guests, so had to queue to get in at times. No hotel reception, lounge or bar area. Not really suitable for young children. A cot was supplied when asked for but windows werent safe for young children. Parking very difficult in middle of August. Woken up before 6am both mornings by glass collection lorry and used oil collection. Not impressed! Double beds not comfortable. Coffee machine provided in rooms in place of kettle made tea taste awful. Go back to kettles.

Location excellent with sea view.food was really good & breakfast was very generous- lasted us all day! Staff were amazing- couldn’t do enough for u.

We were disappointed with the size of the room as we booked a double sea view but when confirmation came through from booking.com it said compact- we thought it might be a slightly smaller room. However when we got to the room which was up 4 flights of stairs( no lift) again not mentioned & not ideal as just had double bypass few weeks before! our room was small for 2 people but the main problem was the bathroom which was tiny. The basin was a small hand basin & the toilet had about 2 inches each side free. Not an easy room to manoeuvre round in.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good "welcome" tray and water available in room. Plenty of choice for breakfast, and all the dinners that I had were first class. Great Location. The building had some character.

Wardrobe rather cramped with ironing board taking up space. (Probably not a problem for anyone staying only 1-2 nights.) BBC1 not available on TV, only 4 channels available. Wish I had known that EV charging could be arranged in other property. The seagulls! I do realise this could be a problem anywhere on the coast, so this is not a criticism of Dukes!
