We chose The Elizabeth for the location, on the seafront, and the beautiful interior design. However, it surpassed even those expectations. The staff were amazing, nothing too much trouble and they helped us with with a variety of enquiries. The room was lovely, with some nice artwork and everything we needed for our stay. We slept really well and the breakfast was really well presented and excellent quality. There is a very attractive bar lounge and dining room, and a seating area looking out to the seafront, where you can watch the World go by. We definitely will return one day.

I would recommend reserving parking. It was a busy time and there was very limited free parking on the seafront.

The Elizabeth was perfect for our needs. The room was bright, clean and modern - and we loved our sea view, complete with a little balcony. We kept the window open at night to listen to the waves! Our breakfast was, hands down, one of the best I have ever had at a hotel; and I've travelled a LOT. Staff were friendly and approachable, and the whole building exuded calm. We LOVED it.

Organising a parking space could, in my opinion, be a little easier - to have to enter reception first, rather than be directed straight to the car park, is stressful on busy days in Sidmouth when even double parking might not be doable.

Location is perfect for town especially with the allocated free parking. Staff all very polite and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and able to accommodate if you had a particular preference. Room was lovely and clean and cosy with double glazed balcony doors and chairs meaning an uninterrupted cup of tea overlooking the sea was a real treat.

Access to the room was poor on arrival as we hadn't been told the lift was broken until we arrived - we coped with our luggage however older guests may have really struggled with this access to rooms up the many stairs.

we got room 19, which was a „compact double“ - tiny, but nicely decorated. Nothing for a holiday, but fine for our overnight stay. Parking was part of the package - appreciated. Breakfast was good (but admittedly there have been better during our road trip), staff very professional and friendly. Summary: it’s a sound hotel, not a more private B&B. We prefer the latter :-). Life hack: yes, they have electric towel heaters in the bathrooms which are running full throttle even in summer 🥵. But you may switch them off - there’s a „strip switch“ hanging from the ceiling .

A price of 153 GBP/night is a statement for this room. It’s ok if this is the market in Sidmouth (which could do some general refurbishment of its appearance, houses etc, if I may say so). But I was not happy that I partly had the feeling of being a 2nd class „compact room guest“ - we were given (!) a breakfast slot at 8 fix, and got one of the less practical parking lots for a big car in front of a staff door (this lot is allocated to #19).

Our second visit, for a special occasion, and we really enjoyed our stay. We had a room with a balcony this time, and spent alot of time relaxing in the sunshine watching the World go by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked a car parking space this time, although at this time of year spaces were occasionally avaliable at the front of the hotel, would recommend doing this. The location on the sea front is probably the main selling point, and the room rates are competitive compared to other seafront hotels of this quality. The hotel is also very close to the excellent shopping area and walks in all directions.

There should be a category on Booking.com feedback for recommendations, as these were not particularly negative aspects but more reflections!! We booked breakfast at 9am, which meant we were the last in and had to wait for awhile, but we were happy to relax. Maybe if you are keen to get out and about book earlier. Not everything requested on the online check-in made it through to reception, newspaper/bottle of fizz in the room on arrival, so would recommend phoning if you have any special requirements. The parking request was picked up with the booking.

Very helpful kind staff. Comfortable bed and room. Additional items such as non slip mat for shower and plug adaptor for electric toothbrush charger provided on request from reception . Help with luggage provided. Good food with non menu items provided on request.

Although there is a lift. Information that side rooms access is also via a flight of stairs. Only sea view rooms have access direct from the lift. Soap and shower gel dispensers are plunger operated and can be difficult to get the contents dispensed.

2 problems,no bath mat which was dangerous as the shower was over the bath but there were hand grips in all fairness. Our other disapointment was the evening meal on our first night,we had a roast beef dinner which was very tasty but looked as if it had been kept warm since Sunday lunch,couldn't cut the roast potatoes and the veg was overdone,we were offered a replacement but the moment was gone. Breakfast was always good. This wouldn't stop us staying again as we really like the Elizabeth

Fabulous position. A balcony overlooking the sea more than made up for a rather small room. Good food. Friendly and efficient staff. Very clean. Hotel parking.

Lucky to get hotel parking on both nights. Bookings.com say it has parking. True, but very little and we nearly missed out. Also we didn't think to book a table for dinner at the restaurant as we were hotel guests. Again an efficent manager sorted it out. A second chair on the balcony would have been nice.

We stayed to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in a balcony Seaview room.the view was lovely,one of the Ernest was particularly helpful nothing was too much trouble amother younger member of staff was very polite and helpful,the staff on our last morning were not quite as polite a little hurried in servicing breakfast,asking us to order while we were still eating our cereal which was awkward

We enjoyed a lovely stay at The Elizabeth Hotel, the staff were excellent, very polite and we enjoyed great conversation with those we met. We stayed in room 37 which was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection on the menu. The bar/lounge area was very comfortable too!

Nothing major however: The toilet flush in room 37 needs looking at as it doesn't flush very easy. We didn't have our bedroom made up after our first night.
