Lovely and clean rooms with amazing views. Friendly staff and just loved the sheep roaming all around the moors.

The restaurant - we were sat in the dark side of restaurant and were not impressed with the food. My husband had fish which came out burnt so was returned. The second one was better and the waitress even commented that it looked better. So why did she bring the burnt one out in the first place? I ordered a pie - all puff pastry and no meat, was more like lumpy gravy. Very disappointed considering the reviews we’d read. The breakfast was nice in the lighter brighter breakfast room.

The position of the pub. Spectacular views over the Moors and Ilkley from the extensive terrace outside. Easy hill walking straight from the doorstep. Nearby Ilkley a nice town with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Only 5 mins away in a taxi, and not expensive. Return was easy from the town centre taxi rank. Cabs waiting even on a Saturday evening. We didn't eat at the pub, but lots of families were eating there at lunchtime. Good beer choice. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant. We will return here in the near future as it's a great base to work from.

As it's obviously a popular place for walkers and families, when we stayed it was very busy and a bit noisy for us. But to be fair, the weather on the day was very poor so it could have been that everyone was eating indoors.

Really good rooms, night entrance for guests is really helpful. Friendly staff. Great location

We have stayed here before it became a vintage inn and had excellent food. Breakfast is very poor value for money, which is not cheap. We wouldn't have paid in advance if we had been made aware that choices are only upto the value of a cooked breakfast. Very limited options, we chose egg florentine and poached egg with salmon and spinach. Both our breakfast were smothered in hollandaise sauce, which tasted very vinegary. Coffee, tea and fruit juice included in the price but no cereals on offer. Vintage Inn is a big company and the accommodation isn't cheap. A real disappointment.

We had a very enjoyable stay and the barman serving us was very helpful in recommending beers on offer. The rooms were bright and comfortable and with added corridor security

We were disappointed with breakfast, slightly overcooked full breakfast and no cereals or continental available. Although all staff were friendly there were a couple of incidents where waiting staff at dinner were indifferent with their attitude and also drinks were added to our bill that we had not purchased and although this was rectified there was no apology offered, in general it gave the impression it didn’t matter if we were there or not !

This place is a little gem if you want to experience a night on the moors. You do feel you are away from it all here, excellent hikes on the moors with a cosy ambience in the evenings. The rooms are comfortable, warm and clean and the restaurant serves decent pub food. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The price of food is expensive for what you get, it very standard pub grub and if you go into Ilkley a mile down the road for the same price you can get higher quality food for the same price. But this place is a tourist attraction and you are staying for the experience.

Staff were excellent, especially the manager and the new guy, no one was bad. Food was great. Location is one of our annual highlights, we never tire of spending our wedding anniversary here. There is even a song on my album ‘vinyl matt’ by Matt Delaney (available on all platforms) called Ilkley song, dedicated to out trips here.

Breakfast bacon was a little underdone for my taste. Didn’t spoil my stay though.

I like everything about the Cow and Calf that's why I've been 7 times. The food is great, the service is always with a smile and they are so helpful with extra milk or places to visit. The rooms are clean towels and bedding are crisp and white. Plenty of tea and coffee with mugs!! Not tiny tea cups, breakfast is served until 10 am so you can have a lay-in and checkout is 12 which means a relaxed end to your trip.

Have to say the bed was a little too firm for my liking. Most beds in hotels seem to be in fairness as I'm used to memory foam. The shower in room 7 could do with being 4 inches wider it's long but I felt there could just be a bit more arm room for hair washing and the room was big enough to give it that extra too so I'm not sure why they made it as tight as they did.

rooms were clean, modern and well kept pub food was tasty some staff were helpful and friendly

some of the staff were clearly a bit stressed (bank hol weekend) and would sometimes ignore you when you wanted to be seated in the restaurant we had an unfortunate incident where the water was turned off for over 12 hours on the top floor and we had my brothers wedding to get ready for. in the end it was handled as best as it could, with drinking water fetched for us from the shop and being able to use the toilet on the first floor. Though the communication here was lacking and it was confusing as to what was going on. They refunded us for this night which was a nice gesture overall.

Situated just outside Ilkley the property is well placed for road links to the surrounding towns and also Leeds and Bradford. We used a car but there are rail and bus links locally. The views from the property are stunning. It is ideally placed for walking. The ambience of the property inside and outside is very welcoming. Dogs are also welcome and water bowls are provided for them outside and in part of the bar/restaurant. The staff are very friendly and happy to follow through on any requests. The food was well cooked and presented. The breakfast menu was varied and it was service only with complimentary coffee, tea, juices and water. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean.

There was no lift but the stairs were wide and there were hand rails. I knew that there were no lifts but was prepared to climb the stairs for all that was on offer at the property.

very friendly, helpful member of staff who checked us in, good customer service; room was very nice, clean, bed and pillows comfortable, bathroom was a good size with shower and lovely toiletries, usual facilities in the room, good wi-fi etc. Hotel is in a lovely location, great views, car parking on site.

breakfast was poor, not a lot of choice, could do with help yourself cereal, fruit etc (you could have granola or porridge off the menu) I had some baked beans with my breakfast which came in a ramekin dish which was about a third full, couple of forkfuls! Having said that my husband enjoyed his full English.
